Cadburys roses 729g tub reduced to £1.25 at Waitrose instore. Stacks of them available in my local, should be national as it was a shelf price not reduced sticker

Returned to same store today but they have all sold out. I asked a shop assistant and they said if there were any left in other Waitrose that they should be £1.25 a tub as they are clearing all Christmas items

Mondelez is destroying Cadbury, just like they said they wouldn't. Shutting factory, moving headquarters, removing dairy Milk from Creme egg, b******ising Dairy Milk by putting non-Cadbury concoctions together like Chocolate Phili, Daim and Ritz together with Dairy Milk, removing Bourneville from tins, stopped sending chocolate to retired employees, making Diary Milk in Poland among I'm sure many other things.

I like roses. But they are not the same with no coffee creams. In fact which assortment still has coffee creams? They are the best sweet!

I'm fairly sure they'd appreciate rice/pasta foodstuff a bit more than of a load of sweets. Can just picture the scene "mummy I'm hunnngrrryy what's for tea? Have you been down to the food bank?" "Yes and...well....it's Roses. On toast".

Had a tub given as a gift recently. Disappointed to see that the cost cutting exercises has now made the wrappers near identical apart from different colours also the piece of paper that tells you what each chocolate is, is now so small that it makes it difficult to read for some people. Have a look and you will see what I mean.

The coffee in my experience has been luke so if you dont drink it in 10 mins it wil be cold. I know you cant complain but if somebody ends up paying they might not be too pleased.
Nothing in cheap price chocolate for me, probably for the best.
No one wants these at Christmas never mind after do they?

Yes, the only thing more disappointing is the chocolate! We had a box of this over Christmas and they are nothing like the old stuff, very plasticy in taste and texture.
spector123
29 Dec 161#38
It didn't ruin Christmas, but I clearly think it is a step too far with what they have done. I certainly won't be buying any in future. At least nestle seem to be keeping Quality Street in the same familiar wrappers albeit there are less chocolates in a tin each year. l suppose it is the sign of the times.

I don't think people will boycott Cadbury's, they will just push themselves out of the market by making their chocolate taste like plastic, no-one will even be talking about their immoral practices.

Exactly. At least I/we can remember the good times when the 'tins' were larger and 'full' of proper chocolates. :sunglasses:
The current gen don't know that, so manufacturers can put **** in a pretty wrapper and they'd eat them. Not to say I won't get some 'tubs', I have one from when Waitrose first offered them earlier this year at £3.60 (with a Wait. card). I had a couple 'purple' ones, but god they are so yuk to what they used to be. The tub is still out on the side in the dining room for friends and visitors 'Would you like a Rose's (or the excuse for a Rose's)?' 'Oh, yes please, that's kind.'
Suckers! :stuck_out_tongue:
I'd let them have Coke to wash it down, but that is one thing we don't allow anywhere remotely near our house. The only brown sugar besides some muscovado in this house is by the Stones. :smirk:

They had a 'real' choccy test on tv recently with British, American, Belgian and Swiss chocolate. Nobody here liked the American chocolate... except when the person who tried it was found to be an ...American! Too bitter for our tastes.

But is Waitrose on the HUKD approved merchants list?
Just had a 10% off code for a major national retailer blocked by HUKD thought police because:
"This was removed as being unsuitable. We'd just expect to see them increase their following and become more established before we added to them to the HUKD Merchant List"
Apparently HUKD is not a deal/voucher swap forum any more ??

I got a 90g share bag of these from Home Bargains and had a heck of a job working out what was what just by looking at the wrappers. Eventually discovered that there was a list inside the creases on the left and right hand side of the bag, though apparently 90g isn't enough to include the Country Fudge!
Turns out the Signature Truffle and Hazel In Caramel were the only ones that looked half-decent - the rest can go to my co-workers. And, yes, there was a coffee flavour, but it was called Coffee Escape. I now declare Roses the worst chocolate assortment on the UK market - a title I'd bestowed for decades to (lack of) Quality Street, which now looks superb in comparison.

I used to look forward to indulging in these, but they're horrible tasting now. All sugar and no actual taste with a lacklustre mouthfeel of putty to boot. As mentioned earlier, Mondelez destroying Cadbury.
It's a good deal at £1.25 in comparison to previous pricing, so voting hot regardless.
