What's the benefit of buying one of these over a traditional kettle? I can only think of downsides (1 serving, limited cup size)

I just fill the cup with water then pour it into my £12 asda kettle 3000watts,which it boils in 35 seconds. No matter what size cup/mug you are using it will always fill the right amount.

I have one of these and I love it. If you want a quick brew that you can drink straight away during the day then this is ideal. And as for tea by the time you put the milk in its fine. I love mine!! Bargain price and cheap to heat water xx

These are great kettles, much safer for elderly or those with disabilities :smile:

WARNING. Had 2 of these this month and both leaked from the Base of the handle.

Lots of other Amazon customers have had the same problem.

Either quality control is a joke at Breville or there's a manufacturing fault. It's a potential fire hazard as the water leaks into the contacts on the power stand.

Amazon apparently don't care they're selling a dangerous product.

seriously, check yours thoroughly if you like to live dangerously and take the gamble of buying one.

Had one for a few years and they are great just enough to fill a cup

I think this is the right dispensing size for those who like milk with their tea or coffee, but if you have them black, then Elusia is sort of right in that the cup will only be partly full. I'm not sure how running it twice per mug works though as that would overflow.

Either way, I really like mine. In a two person house it works well over the kettle. Plus it's useful to be able to dispense the water in your tea and let it brew (which wouldn't be possible if you had to come back to pour the kettle). Useful if you're running errands while preparing your breakfast!

These are fantastic and work with hard water. I've had mine over 4 years and the only criticism is that I've ended up having to replace all my cups with slighty larger cups. To descale use vinegar a few times and rinse.

Had one for a few years, this model, and it fills my (decent size) mug just right with a bit of space left for the milk. Each to their own but I wouldn't be without mine. Had at least 3 friends and my mum and dad buy one after seeing/using mine. Good price too.

Pretty easy to descale. White vinegar boiled through it several times followed by a flush or water.

It is always scaled up , hard to descale it if used frequently as it builds up pretty quick.

Had two and both ended up shorting the fuse box due to leaks

I have the one with the variable dispenser it provides very hot water but the "variable " isn't very.

Had one of these a few years back, the boiled water had a plastic taste and smell to it, returned it after a week as it wouldn't go away.. put me off buying another. good price if your looking for one though

Ideal for single person, but when the family comes over and they all want hot drinks it's not really ideal. Only takes about 30-40 secs to boil but also needs topping up frequently if having more than one cup etc. Ours scaled up pretty badly, even though we descaled it.

Got one of those last year arround £35 , in my opinion it is not worth the money
In order to make a tea in a regular mug not a small cup , you need to boil water twice.
Once is not enough for a mug , tea comes short and twice is to much.
If you making it for two people then need to boil three times, whether a standard kettle would have done it quicker.
Still cheaper than when I have bought one
heat added.
