- Claim a free Samsung speaker worth £99.99 when you buy the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge. You’ll get a leaflet with your phone, with instructions on how to claim.
Ends 11 Jan.
Step by step guide for this deal
1) Follow the get deal button, purchase the £59.99 + £45*24 tariff.
2) Receive your phone and sim card.
3) Put the sim card into your phone and go onto myO2 (app or website) and from there request the unlock code.
4) Call 202 from the same sim card as it will make things much easier, go straight to the I want to leave o2 department or something like that (I think it's thinking of leaving us? Press something) as that will connect you with the right people much quicker.
5) Tell the person you want to pay your device in full and cancel the airtime. They will ask you why, tell them you don't think the airtime is a good value for money, but you want to keep the phone because you think it's an outstanding value for money. They will ask you for card details, you tell those details and that's it, they cancel it for you in about an hour.
6) You own the phone from that point, assumed that you have done this straightaway, there won't be any charges, otherwise you will have to pay as much airtime as you have used.
There is £70.00 cashback available if you are willing to try to go through quidco.
Good luck!

If you're applying for a mortgage soon or need credit, consider this:
Do you need to use the unlock code before phoning 202? Is there a risk they won't send it after you cancel?
What's the risk that they will charge the airtime before you can cancel, I'm assuming it doesn't start until you receive the phone (Christmas/new year delivery could be tricky) so cancelling straight away you're within your 14 day grace period and won't be charged?
Sounds an amazing deal, just hard to believe there's no catch! Pity the code doesn't work on the Oneplus3T really!

That's why I still have an LG G4 in my pocket. This generation of devices really doesn't interest me, nor offer me anything substantial.
My phone is QHD, 3000mAh, 3GB RAM, 32GB, micro-SD, removable battery, decent camera (front/back) and was bought for £240 new from Vodafone. I don't see me moving to anything new for the next 12/24 months given Nougat is also confirmed for my device.

Lower the brightness. download a 'screen filter' app to lower the brightness below the default minimum
misterleoni
2 Jan 17#91
I get eye strain from AMOLED too. Not sure if it's something to do with the flicker frequency or the sub-Pixel layout of AMOLED - they don't use an RBG stripe like IPS screens because of the deterioration of blue sub pixels.
It's for this reason that I tend to prefer phones with IPS screens if the choice between the two is mainly down to the screen.
misterleoni
2 Jan 17#92
Aside from root apps, these apps don't lower the brightness to below the default minimum - if you look at the app permissions, they're actually drawing a transparent layer over the top of the screen, which tints it and effectively makes it look dimmer by decreasing the contrast. This is why on other AMOLED devices with onscreen buttons the navigation buttons are never filter - the permission 'draw over other apps' in Android doesn't allow apps to draw over the navigation keys.

Yep, its the way their billing system works. I was very worried too, spent the last month checking my O2 virtually everyday. I spoke to 6 different cust reps at O2 on phone and via chat. They all confirmed that I should not be charged. Some of the info was inconsistent between them. But i was advised to cancel the DD and wait for the next bill to generate. That bill was finally generated on 4th Feb and there was a credit of £462 applied on my bill.
phew!
It seems to me that their billing system automatically put the early T Fee to your account. The second O2 rep I spoke to then said she applied a credit to my account which would cancel out the T fee. So I assume they have to cancel the extra charge via a credit added manually on their system.
Just keep chasing O2 and keep track of who you spoke to, when and what they said (chats can be emailed to you).
And then wait for your next bill.
Also, it shows up as a closed settled account on my credit file.
