Brabantia bins are well worth the premium prices they can command, that`s why they come with a ten year guarantee. So this deal is brilliant value if you can live with the `Passion Red` colour because you're going to be looking at it for a long, long time. Heat added.

Wicked price, want a silver though. Actually ordered a 60L at the weekend. Around £100
Reason I went for a bigger one btw was to use normal bin bags with it. Can be hard to remove a stuffed bag from a thinner one I hear. Haven't had one, just was doing a lot of reading on bins at the weekend.
I know right..

Brabantia type G. Tescos probably do a clone that's cheaper.

'Trust' binliners. I get them from Waitrose but I imagine other retailers sell them. Cheaper than Brabantia's own liners and of vastly superior quality. I've tried Tesco and Sainsburys own brands and they are awful.

We buy the Tesco 50L ones, type H, and I agree just as good as the Brabantia ones.

The clicker went on our black one and we didn't realise it had a ten year guarantee. The one time the wife actually throws something away and there was no need......grrrrr. Anyways, ordered one of these, cheers OP, heat added.

Ours did too - I contacted Brabantia and they sent out a complete new chrome/plastic top for the bin free of charge (which was perhaps a little excessive). Cannot fault their after sales service.

The most expensive bin I've ever bought lol... thanks op.
How does the 10 year guarantee work, do I register with Brabantia online? Also, do I keep the receipt aside and if any faults occur who do I deal with, Argos or Brabantia?
Thanks in advance

Omg, never knew I could be mulling over an hour of whether to get a flip lid or a pedal lid for a bin!!!
Anyone think of any good pros or cons betwen the two? (apart from the flips lid wont smack the wall - though that would mean a smaller hole to aim at :sunglasses:)

They are too trusting; we had a pop up bin for over 10 years and the lid came apart. We found someone selling them on ebay for a very good price and was taking offers as well. He sold 10 of them. Turns out he was scamming them and just ordering replacement lids and getting them shipped out.
I wasn't impressed and contacted Brabantia; they said that it happens a lot. Probably explains the high prices......

first4spares do Brabantia-compatible bin liners (mine takes H), can't comment on how good they are yet, halfway through my first! Size G here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390942359603 £5.95 for 40, might still be too pricey for some, Brabantia bags cost even more!
I got a 60 litre Brabantia bin recently, came with three genuine bags - the genuine ones are bulletproof and easy to tie.

2.0 out of 5 starsAwful value for money
By G. Davies TOP 500 REVIEWER on 16 Aug. 2015
Colour: White Verified Purchase
This is a very basic bin at a very expensive price - having parted with money for this bin I have to say that it is one of the few products I have bought from Amazon that has crossed the border from poor value for money to offensively unacceptable value for money.
I bought the white version of the bin. The yellow rim - visible in the product picture - is made of cheap plastic and looks far worse in the flesh than it does in the picture. It's bonded to the body of the bin and, on mine at least, is not flush with the rim. It's unevenly seated in places and looks like something from a GCSE Arts and Crafts project.
The lid is anchored to the top of the bin via a metal spring hinge at the back. It's a shame that Brabantia didn't give more thought to creating a mechanism without metal parts. It's a shame because the top of the bin which contains the lid is easily removable - I initially thought this would be great for ease of cleaning because the top of the bin and the lid are made of plastic. It would be great for cleaning but for the metal hinge. The bin has a sticker just above the metal hinge informing the user, through a diagram, that the lid is not dishwasher safe. Clearly the Brabantia designers recognised that people would be tempted to put the lid in the dishwasher and, instead of designing a product that made this possible, instead invested time in creating a sticker telling you not to do it.
The metal hinge has also been lubricated with grease. There are no maintenance instructions with the bin but it is likely that for the spring mechanism to continue to operate smoothly (and it does operate very smoothly out of the box) it will need to be at least occasionally lubricated.
On a positive note, the inner black plastic sleeve (into which the bin bag is inserted) is easy to clean and easily removable. Additionally, the bin is relatively light (it weighs just over 4kg or about 9 pounds) which is a positive point. Although the removable top dome of the bin which contains the lid is made from plastic, the outer main body of the bin is made from some sort of metal alloy. I'm pretty sure that the white version is not stainless steel but rather a cheaper alloy.
The product is, in my view, very poor value for money and I'm surprised and disappointed that Brabantia, a name I have trusted, would produce such a poor value for money product.
