Went in there once, it was like a post apocalyptic wasteland, only with less charm.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt like that. Once was enough. You really need patience to cope with all those boxes.
It's open at 10am but my friend said Polish people queue up hours earlier and fill their trolleys. A Turkish woman on facebook sells this stuff every day. Buys several of the same products and flogs them on facebook sites.
I personally think it should be limited to only so many per person so people can get a chance of an electrical item. An exercise on greed. Not a pleasant sight.

My local Lidl used to do this 2 or 3 times a year, they used to put large cardboard boxes out full of things from 50p and run it over two days. Usually around 90% off retail price, and items were new. They used to run it without publicity so only the regulars really knew about it, then they started advertising it and it was manic with pushing, fighting, arguing as more and more people started turning up. Sadly because of that they had to stop holding them.

maybe that's why they don't advertise it then

so lidl bought a store and open it 2 to 3 times a year to sell off junk (unsold junk), and leave it closed rest of the year? how do they make any money

Its actually there old store before they moved, maybe they have a long lease ? its all going to be flattened soon anyway for redevelopment

Because storage is expensive and leases are costly to break out of, they likely had a long lease on the site, which they had to pay out anyway, or as someone said the site is up for development, the landlord likely gave them the remaining lease rent free in lieu of costs to break out of the lease
May as well store unsold stock in a closed store and have a sale once in a while to clear it out

Thanks for the heads up ... a bit like a jumble sale but I got a few bargains. Apparently it's there until at least April next year.

If you ever get one of these opening near you go along and take a look. When it first opens most of the items will be selling for a lot less than normal Lidl prices. After a few weeks the prices start to come down, a lot depends on how much of a particular item they have. The prices can get ridiculously cheap, I have paid a pound for things that are normally £8-10 pounds. I have purchased items for 50p that are selling in a Lidl a few doors away for a FIver. I have seen people spending hundreds of pounds, buying items that they know they can sell at a massive profit. Wooden dolls house £25 in Lidl, someone bought 70 of them for a pound each, others bought a few things for family friends etc. Far from just selling junk there can be some really good items. I have purchased Stanley tools, electrical items, Parkside power tools and accessories, household goods etc and most of it has been at least 60% of Lidl prices and some of it has been 95% off.

Been to a few of these in our local stores, in ours its usually Asians that clear them, pulling clothes out of their wrappers and just throwing them to one side.

All the good stuff is sold in the first ten minutes of opening. You are right about the Polish. One guy turns up very early in the morning and sticks as many as twelve trolleys in the doorway and then five minutes before the store opens eleven of his mates turn up. It's a bit like the Germans saving sunbeds with a towel. They intimidate people and once in the store push people about and stop them from getting near any of the stuff they want. People complain but no one will take responsibility, Bargain Base say it is down to St. Marks to sort out and St. Marks say the trolleys belong to Bargain Base and it is up to them to sort out.

It is disgusting how they treat you in there, was there on Tuesday this week, found a book half the wrapper was off ,so wanted to have a look ,next thing a security guard told me to leave the store and he escorted me out !!!!!

Maidstone lidl have this fairly regular and yes you have to fight off the non English, I see a coloured lady with a whole trolley full of shoes, also like people have said lots of items out of wrappers/boxes.BTW no racism is intended in what I have put.

If I see a bargain in B&M or anywhere I'm clearing the shelf, distribute between friends and family, even may sell a few, I would be stupid not to. I think your problem is Black people (please don't use coloured) or anyone that has a different accent from you is very obvious so it may seem they are more prevalent. Non English (thank God) Scottish patron. We have only one enemy, THE RICH
