I agree, I have the bigger brother Zenpad 8 inch with 2 GB ram and it's great, but 1gb ram just isn't enough for mainstream use.
There are better tablets out there in this price range.

Good price for a very basic tablet and as said above DO NOT expect decent performance from this

Yeah I tried that method. It didn't work for me.

CAN BE limiting is the key.
Don't buy a 50 quid tablet expecting 'performance'....
As I said, the 1gb tabs we got the kids are absolutely fine for the use they were intended for. iPlayer, kids games, Spotify, all fine. Can't speak for these obviously, it would appear they are more hindered, but buy according to requirements. If you need power, space and performance, don't spend 50 quid to get it.
You could then use titanium backup to freeze or force uninstall bloatware

Pretty sure this is the model I have which is now just a basic comic reader due to the incredibly poor performance of the thing.
And it's not just the 1gb RAM - the Asus software is endless and unnecessary. No support from the community either so impossible to debloat. Battery is OK and it's well built, but in all honesty I wouldn't pay £30 for it. Avoid

1GB can be a very big problem these days. you'll find that just operating without any apps that most tablets / phones will be using around 0.5gb with their OS and background tasks.
If you dont mind a tablet / phone being slow then 1GB is fine but if your looking to use it in 'real time' then i wouldn't consider anything less than 2GB.

I bought 2 of these, one for me, one for the daughter... Firstly, they are horrendously slow, could be because of all of the ASUS crap on there...... Got rid of what I could - still painfully slow.... The daughter found hers exactly the same...... My one after a couple of weeks wouldn't stop loop rebooting - so returned for a refund... The daughters is just sat gathering dust - her old mobile being much better than this... It may be "only" £59.99 but the fact it only has 1GB of ram means pretty much most apps will struggle and as tech time quickly passes by this will be obsolete very soon.... So my advice is to shop around and find something with more RAM as you'll get better quality of use and more life out of it.

I'm not sure it's just the ram that causes issues...
I got a couple of the Lenovo tab 7's from Argos for the kids when they were 49.99, and we've found them just fine. There ARE better out there, of course, but for 50 notes, they manage great, and with only 1024x600 resolution, 1gb isn't as limiting as some think.
