True story. I bought that same CPU last Christmas for £135. I just sold it last week on Ebay for £190.

It does a bit more than just streaming, and CPU's were cheap last year (£150 on Amazon for this chip). So paired with a 750 Ti its able to play sofa games like Fifa and platformers.

Everything I've read suggests that you got lucky there. And why would you use a 6600 in a media centre?

Best to wait until next year before making a new build, right?

That isn't true at all, I'm typing on a i5 6600 media center with 8gb DDR3 right now and its been rock solid for a year now.

Would this be a good board for a new build, building to replace my i2500k.

Can I reuse my ddr3 ram with this (Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866Mhz Memory Kit CL9)?

Not on this board but some Skylake boards do support DDR3 but its the lower end ones. If you are going to move up and want the best boards, sell up your DDR3 first as the prices are around the same.

You don't want to use DDR3 with Skylake. They don't play nicely.

looks nice, something different.
But I'm waiting on a gigabyte board.
They sure are taking their time to drop the prices on motherboards an cpu's.
