This is an amazing deal .... I am looking to buy an iPad today which should save me around £32.
Quidco has just updated website cashback rate from 7.7% to 10% after I contacted them telling them it was incorrect

Hello all,
I’m glad many of you are making use of the increased cashback rates with Argos… I know I will be a little later today!
Just some clarification on which purchases are eligible for the current 10% rate.
The rate is only applicable to all online sales and Fast Track sales.
Cashback is not available on Click & Collect (Check & Reserve) sales.
This is because Click & Collect (Check & Reserve) payments are made in-store, and that makes it impossible for the referral commission that forms cashback to be attributed to us.
In contrast, Online and Fast Track sales allow for sales to be tracked back to us and processed accordingly because the payments are made online.
Please note too that Argos purchases will track lower and update to the correct rate when the cashback reaches ‘confirmed’ status. So don’t panic when your cashback initially tracks lower… That’s ok.
I hope this helps & enjoy your shopping.

Thanks Jack for basically avoiding my direct questions, as expected.
I'm also here to ask questions regarding the aforementioned deal (That's 10% cashback at Argos, although technically "cash" back is never awarded) on how the process works for both consumer and affiliate; whether Quidco get rewarded irrespective of a sales lead claim and when that amount is triggered. You appear awfully shy answering what happens to unclaimed credit, hidden tracking and declined claims. I think I'll give Quidco a miss in future.

Joseph,
I have a few questions for you, so thank you in advance for trying to help members out here, especially with dealing with direct questions than any generic corporate reply.
How quickly do Quidco receive their affiliate payment from a retailer?
When are you aware that a customer has made payment for goods to a separate site?
Do you also have to make a claim against the retailer? At what point is this done?
What percentage of referrals do you get paid for?
What percentage of paying customers actually get paid or how many sales go unaccounted for?
Where does unclaimed discounts or cancelled claims end up?
Does charity benefit from hidden tracking and failed claims that goes amiss?
I apologise for the questions, I'm just trying to understand how Quidco works when the key information is hidden in tracking and smoke and mirrors.

Thanks for clarifying. The point I was trying to make with Argos fast-track is how efficient (all credit to them) they can be when receiving money and dispatching goods - I've never had a problem with that and they're one of the best at it. On the flip side, we all know with most companies from Retailers to Insurance claims, the process inexplicably becomes more complicated and delayed when they have to pay out. That's wrong, when it can and should be just as efficient. They're all different, some are extremely efficient at processing returns/refunds/cashback and can equally be case dependent. It's in their interests, although few will admit it, to hold our money for as long as possible - ker-ching. The same is true of services like Paypal when it comes to "refunds" where you'll find payment delayed longer than the archaic bank clearing system, as that's one method of how they can put our money to extra use...for them.
As a developer, I have an acute background understanding of how systems should and do work. Whilst software can and often is flawed, it's the deliberate mechanism that's the problem of delayed returns whether that's hidden tracking, lengthy claim periods and/or passing the buck on to another company/department as you jump through one hoop to another. Those hoops absent during purchase.
The positives are always great to hear, as is not overlooking the negatives from independent HUKD members, of which there are a disturbing amount. This is one reason why I recently down-voted (which I really dislike doing) the Just Eat 25% off promotion, as you're still paying full price in the hope of "credit back" which as you say, doesn't come with a guarantee. Better to wait for Hungry House and their unambiguous APPYDAY deduction, where you actually pay the reduced amount - no making/chasing claims for an issue that doesn't need to be there.
The best guarantee is that which has already been suggested by myself and others when that cashback/creditback/refund/discount/promotion/concession (in essence the same thing unless being pedantic, as I can be, of simply getting a return on your payment) is applied during the checkout process, so that consumers don't pay full price but pay the price, less the promotional offer. Sites like Quidco (or more specifically their partners) can/should incorporate and manage an affiliated referral token based system that does away with all this nonsense of initiating and chasing claims, where discounts are applied during checkout.
Most things that aren't transparent are open to causing problems and where "credit back" can get redirected to someone other than who it should have been intended for...

It was the comparison with how quickly Argos take payment for fast track items, which seemed out of context.
Appreciate it's frustrating though if you've made a purchase based on the cashback offer.
Technology is unfortunately not infallible and in the case of this process has to work across multiple different devices along with different software and browser versions. So yeah, sometimes it won't work and that's when you need a human element.
It's flawed sure, but I've used it for a good few years now and got a decent amount cashback, hence feeling the need to chip in with positives in what seems to be a mainly negative viewpoint within the posts here.
Lastly I've not voted on the deal as cashback cannot be guaranteed.

I appreciate and understand the model - I'm just slightly frustrated by the whole process and apparently not the only one. Which refund context are you referring to? I used it several times.
Whether you describe that as cashback or refund, it's still fundamentally a "repayment of a sum of money". A sum of money has been paid in full, now awaiting repayment...in part. Gees. Now go to Step 5 above about involving multiple people, wasting their time.
Furthermore, can cashback be described as cash back?
cashback
ˈkaʃbak/
noun
a form of incentive offered to buyers of certain products whereby they receive a cash refund after making their purchase.
cash1
kaʃ/Submit
noun
1. money in coins or notes, as distinct from cheques, money orders, or credit.
Correct me if I'm wrong but no coins or notes are returned from Quidco cashback.
To quote you : "The two things are not the same."
dps5pt
18 Dec 161#96
Why do you use the term refund? It's cashback through an affiliated linked promotional offer.
If I take an item back to Argos (within given period of terms and conditions etc.) they will refund me the full amount, which will appear very likely in my account within 24hrs
The two things are not the same.

18 Dec 16#95
Thanks Joseph for the heads-up and giving me a realistic time-scale to consider, which I initially misread as being somewhere around less than half a day for tracking and perhaps up to a month before cashback refunded. Happy to extend that to 30+ days to cover any return period and avoid customers taking advantage of any promotion. Now I realise not to hold my breath for a speedy return, if at all, based upon other consumer's experiences.
However, 4 months is a crazy amount of time to wait for processing which should be a quick automated digital process, especially when you consider Argos pride themselves on fast-track delivery but it is what it is. Fast-track only appears to work when they're receiving money, not returning it. People only really need to get involved with the handling, collection of goods and signing off.
Simplified buying/refund model:
1. Was the customer referred from Quidco?
- Yes. We automatically tracked their referral session and/or cookie, which was available in their web browser at the time of purchase during checkout. We could make that important information known to the client during checkout and/or billing and apply the discount but choose not to, else we would have to lay off some members of customer support as the result of operating an efficient system.
2. Did the customer pay for goods in full and collect?
- Yes. The transaction was digital, immediately stored in our secure database and there's a record of collection too, which completes the buyer's obligations.
3. Is the customer due 10% cashback?
- Yes. Given the tracking information known, we are aware at the time of sale that a refund is due. We could apply that discount during checkout but will leave you guessing why we choose not to...
4. Could the customer return the goods and attempt to profit from the promotion?
- No. We (Argos) know what was paid and promotion applied, so would only refund the amount due less the refund/cashback already paid.
5. Shall we refund the customer as quickly as they made payment given that our digital system has recorded every piece of critical financial information about the transaction?
- No, let's wait 4 months and have multiple people involved in the loop, wasting their time.
It's not a great customer-friendly 100% efficient and reliable model is it?
The fact that customer support is needed, shows that the underlying technology/model is flawed and certainly not up to 2016 standards or expectations, where processing transactions and/or returns/discounts should be occurring automatically. I feel like Marty McFly in Back to the Future, except we are travelling back in time.

Hey @ikonanddiva
Claims with Argos will take 4 months to be processed from the date the claim is raised, according to their Quidco page.
Argos are usually great with claims, so that should get processed ok.
You will also be the first to know about any movement/ updates with that claim via the notifications on your account.
In the meantime, definitely do get in touch with our support team should you have any further questions regarding that cashback.
Any bonus related to that purchase will then be added in separately 3 days after that claim reaches confirmed status (That is when a cashback is processed and made available for payment).
I hope this helps.

Personally, I find Quidco works generally fine and the golden rule as others have mentioned is don't make a purchase based on the cashback, which is why including cashback rate in the final price of any deal is considered a no no.
Having said that, makes you wonder why this has gone hot, as the deal is purely based on cashback. Lack of consistency with the HUKD community

My guess is Argos is having to do this to tempt back lost customers that have been waiting hour+ for goods. I'm not bothering with Argos again, the computer automatically calls out the numbers for ready items with no relationship to if the items are ready or not. Wasted over an hour there last weekend. Staff were looking on the shelves for orders that were not ready, just because the computer screens called out customers numbers. Receipt said 14 min wait - what a load of rubbish that was. Never again, not even with 10% off.

It's no good just saying to your customers "your money is not coming". Where the hell do the payments go? Scrap the tracking if it's not reliable and issue unique codes to us.

I had two lots of £50 from BT not pay out about a month ago!
I asked them after, signing up with BT as it didn't track properly, even though each time it said your visit has been recorded! A week later and within BT's cooling off period they assured me all was okay. I would have cancelled and re-ordered otherwise. A couple of months later and they say that it didn't track to me and BT had refused my claim.
QUIDCO cannot tell me (or won't) where the referral money was paid to. Either they keep it or maybe it has come to HUKD. One things for sure there is SOD all I can do about it apart from never use QUIDCO again! Which I won't and I'll say that on every mention of them that I see. I really think that this tracking system can be a con. It's not guaranteed so how do we know it's not just them giving themselves a Christmas bonus? DON'T USE QUIDCO.

I've made two purchases via fast track in the last few weeks (one under the previous 10% cashback offer and one for the £10 cashback on £25 spend). Neither tracked and I've had to raise claims. I don't have any issues with any other purchases tracking so I reckon there's issues with Argos' system. I went on webchat about this but I will still need to sit tight for now. I will raise hell if they try to wriggle out of this.
To be fair, Quidco have paid out (from their own pocket) when I have raised complaints about retailers dragging their heels on making payments so I will give them the benefit of the doubt at this point.

16 Dec 16#51
But surely you know Quidco relies on a link made (online) between them and the retailer after the purchase is made, therefore click and collect, would obviously not count .. this is not a sale, this is a reservation. So yes, in my opinion, is in to all sales ... where SALES is the operative word. I believe we have all at some time made reservations via Click and Collect at Argos and actually not collected them for some reason or other.
In other words, just because you reserve something, it doesn't mean you are actually going to call into Argos to actually purchase it ... therefore, not a sale.
Forgive me if the above comment sounds patronising, this is not the intention I assure you, it is only to make my point clear.

Hello all,
I’m glad many of you are making use of the increased cashback rates with Argos… I know I will be a little later today!

Has anyone else had any issues with Quidco and not getting the agreed cashback amount at the time of purchase, if so I am going to take a look into this?
Why do I get the feeling with my own issue with Quidco/Argos and having read similar problems that someone is pocketing the 10% from these promotions and it isn't who it should be...
The system is open to abuse. If they're tracking purchases, then they know at the time of purchase who the referrer is. This discount should be applied directly during checkout to reflect the total price (including discounted promotion) than spending weeks chasing customer support, making claims and getting b/s excuses for not refunding the discount.

10% cashback off the price of an item(s) excluding the standard VAT rate of 20%:man:
Let's say Argos is selling an item for £100 then you will get £8 back you don't get £10 back.
£100 including VAT = £100 - 20% = £80
£80 - 10% Quidco offer = £8 cashback

Something odd going on with Quidco at the moment. They're not moving my status from 'tracked' (i.e. paying out) on any of my tracked items since September. They also crashed on Black Friday. Very disappointing.
Promising the earth makes me think they might be going bust and that none of these offers will ever be honoured.

I've only just started using Quidco and already have one claim against Argos for £30.50 for my first item.
It's coming up to 4 weeks now without hearing a dickybird from them with the claim still "processing". I'm hoping that claims are processed after a month (for any returns policy to expire) else I can't say I'm going to be that impressed having been diddled 10%, which was the influencing factor in buying from them in the first place, where I could have got a Manager's 10% discretion discount with Currys.
Whilst this may be a hot deal, I'm going to have to vote cold until I see them actually paying out for the 10% cashback they promise.

I don't really trust any of these 10% - 20% CB Quidco offers with the likes of Argos, H&C, who have serious form for rejecting claims for no reason what so ever. If was going to buy something from these retailers would do so, and go via Quidco, but would see any pay out as a bonus and really would not expect it or factor it into the purchase price.

Thank you for a reply.
In this case I would recommend having a read over our help pages here https://www.quidco.com/help/all/ These contain a great deal of information I believe you will find beneficial.
Joseph and I are here to respond to queries regarding the deal and to help people where we can. If you are a premium member to Quidco you can also request a live chat from the 'You've earned' tab.

We would of course consider this slightly ridiculous too, we are however reliant on the retailer to pass us the payment in order to credit this to your account. If you contact the support team they'll be able to look into this for you straight away.

I apologise for the questions, I'm just trying to understand how Quidco works when the key information is hidden in tracking and smoke and mirrors.
both have same probability
quidco rep is doing same old giving generic responses than investing time to sort out at least one unhappy customer on this thread.
I saw the 10% on quidco and started dilly-dallying about getting the Canon 80D which argos have at £800. Spent too long deciding before i chose to go for it and by that time it had expired. :disappointed:
because there are more people with complaints just on this thread Alone than happy with Quidco.
I don't get more than£100 a year through Quidco so one or two misses as in your case is enough to put me out anyone like me off
2015!!!!! that is still 'processing'. That one is on track to beat the 18 months record I previoisly had. Sad, sad reflection on quidco. There reallly is NO justification for this glacial pontification.
Lastly I've not voted on the deal as cashback cannot be guaranteed.
re: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/refund
Maybe, I'm being literal using a dictionary definition of : Pronunciation: /ˈriːfʌnd/
A repayment of a sum of money:
If I take an item back to Argos (within given period of terms and conditions etc.) they will refund me the full amount, which will appear very likely in my account within 24hrs
The two things are not the same.

Srrry to hear that did not track.
Don’t worry as you can get that manually tracking by raising a claim for cashback itself here: https://www.quidco.com/new-enquiry/
This will get the cashback showing in your claims tab here: https://www.quidco.com/activity/claims
Any bonus related to that purchase will then be added in separately 3 days after that claim reaches confirmed status (That is when a cashback is processed and made available for payment).
I hope this helps.

I guess this means I cannot use a £5 voucher I got recently for spending £50?
Update: tracked virtually straight away. Happy days
As a member of quidco who lost money in previous transactions without a reason......i would just spread the word wherever i can......just so that nobody will be in the losing position and quidco's past reputation is just past and not current anymore.
Starting to get fed up with the high number of failed cash back claims......lost another £18 recently so I fully understand why people are so sceptical of Quidco actually paying out?
rather quidco should focus on gaining trust from the customers by doing their bit to sort out the mess to win back the trust. I for one don't fall for prey.
Also the customer service of quidco gone down the hill over the years. Never ever going to buy anything from quidco again.
They really are becoming very unreliable.
It's no good just saying to your customers "your money is not coming". Where the hell do the payments go? Scrap the tracking if it's not reliable and issue unique codes to us.
To be fair, Quidco have paid out (from their own pocket) when I have raised complaints about retailers dragging their heels on making payments so I will give them the benefit of the doubt at this point.
Thanks for your comments.
In other words, just because you reserve something, it doesn't mean you are actually going to call into Argos to actually purchase it ... therefore, not a sale.
Forgive me if the above comment sounds patronising, this is not the intention I assure you, it is only to make my point clear.

Let me know ... many thanks :man:
The system is open to abuse. If they're tracking purchases, then they know at the time of purchase who the referrer is. This discount should be applied directly during checkout to reflect the total price (including discounted promotion) than spending weeks chasing customer support, making claims and getting b/s excuses for not refunding the discount.
Reserved, but holding off picking up until next week just in case there's a further price drop. You have 7 days to collect and if you don't, you get full refund.
Cashback may track at a lower amount but will update to the correct amount once your cashback is confirmed.
