What do people think of the JBL Pulse 2? It's pricey because of the light show but is it any good as a speaker? It's the same price as the Bose Soundlink but is it on par with it acoustically?
Was £23 in Black Friday last year so I don't think I'll bite this time.

I'm looking for a speaker that I can connect to a chromecast audio but the speaker does not remain on always. It only comes on when I start playing something via the CCA. not sure if anything like that exists really.

I've had this for about a year. Battery life is poor and speaker had to be replaced. However there's nothing that'll beat this at this price and Anker customer service is top notch. Saying that, I'd pay the extra £110 for the JBL Xtreme...

This speaker is the real deal. Took one with me on my honeymoon. Bass on it is crisp and volume is loud. Can honestly say sound os on par with the Bose soundlink mini priced at 150. Went for this Anker at the time and saved over a 100 quid too. Don't hesitate to buy amazing price.

The anker reviews put me off as a lot come from free supplied units. JBL obviosly a decent know brand.

Bought one last year, didn't get it free.
For that price, it's a good potable speaker. It's got a very solid, booming sound. Can get bassy at its lowest levels, but I never play it at that tbh. Battery is good, can't say I've ever had it die on me in one sitting. I use it in my office room at low/ medium volume and its great. I can't stand tinny speakers too.
In short, are there better portable Bluetooth speakers out there? Sure! But at 3 or 4 times the price.

I sold my bose mini 2 and got one of these. Sounds just as good

I've got one of these and think it's a great speaker the extra bass is useful in open areas i.e. when in garden. ok battery isn't the best if using to pump music out but then. We use on the boat on a evening to save power on main boat battery using car radio.

I have had this for a year and love it! good sound, battery power and Bluetooth. Def worth it at this price and you won't be disappointed. good build quality

Had this, returned it, bought 2 others since returned.
Found this to be very bassy, whereas the others, Bluedio and Teceva were tinny and unlistenable really.
Slightly regret returning this tbh as could have used eq on phone more effectively.
Didnt rate the battery life on this though. I got about 4 hours out of mine.
I have JBL Flip 3 on the way now which i got for £55 on Amazon, which seems a bargain.
Hoping my search is at end.

It's a good speaker but I agree it's bit bass heavy and the battery doesn't last as long as I would expect.

been looking at these and others for a while. Conparing 3 of the Anker speaks, JBL flip3 and the Psyc. Just after crisp sound, decent bass and reasonable battery life. Anyone tried a couple?

Sorry Pew. For what it's worth I already have a boom and I ordered one of these for the kitchen. It's a good speaker at a good price.
For JBL v UE, UE is markedly more waterproof (JBL is splashproof, UE can go underwater to three feet for thirty minutes), has better Bluetooth range and better battery life. Sound wise is always hard to judge as it's so subjective. I prefer UE but others will prefer JBL.
I also prefer the styling on the Boom. But again that is down to preference.

My son has this and it is a great speaker for this price. That said like some others have said I'd probably go for the Flip 3 which looks like great value and has 5 star ratings. As for the UE the only advantage it seems to have over the Flip 3 is a slightly better waterproof rating.

I respectfully disagree.
Either way I think this a good deal for the money.

Damn you two just kicked off some indecision in me......I was just about to pull the trigger on this anker too.

In my opinion, £33 gets you an okay speaker.
£54 (JBL) gets you a significantly better speaker than the Anker.
£90 (UE) gets you a significantly better speaker than the Anker but on par with the JBL.
Looking at the figures, the JBL seems the best value. Again, in my opinion.

No, I'm saying the exact same thing as you. That there is a more expensive option that is arguably improved over the cheaper option.
You said it about the JBL over the Anker. I said it about the UE over the JBL.
Sunni
3 Dec 16#13
That's illogical. I'm implying an extra £20 which is fairly easy for most and spare change in the pocket. You're implying an extra £50 which requires more consideration.
And the JBL Flip 3 is on par with the UE Boom 2 for the vast majority of ears.

If we are playing that game, I'd pay £30 more than that and get the UE Boom 2 etc. etc.

I'm not really big into audio/home cinema stuff. Would a portable speaker such as this one be good enough as an alternative to sound bars? Would it improve the audio for a TV?

Had this since it was on deal of the day for 31, it's awesome, better than most on the market (not including the likes of Bose of course) highly recommended if you want something ultra portable and decent sound, as has been said battery life isn't the best but anker also make the best battery packs so a wee add on might be a good plan, got the 20100mah personally and it's great, not had to charge it for weeks

Unless you can afford the Bose Soundlink Mini, go for these - you wont regret it.
