Appearing on my cards this morning via my Offers section in my online account....

Spend £150 or more, get £50 back
Save to Card to get a £50 statement credit on a transaction of £150 in-store and online at Jessops by 31 December 2016. Offer valid every time for the first 50,000 Cardmembers to save. Terms and payment restrictions apply.
Please read the Offer Terms

Good to stack with any other deals from them - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/jessops.com

For cashback deals from camera manufacturers to stack with see - http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/Current%20Offers/Cashback%20Offers/Show.html?homepagerb1

If you're buying online don't forget cashback.

If you're buying in store and have the offer on more than one card and are spending on an item of say £300, ask to split payment over two cards, so £100 cashback on £300 etc. Even if you only have one card you could ask to see if you split transactions, as the offer does say valid 'every time', not just once.

Currently no link for non Amex issued cards (Lloyds, TSB, Barclays and MBNA) and based on offers of late I'd think the chances of one turning up are slim - sorry.

It's been confirmed, no giftcards.

Just back from Jessops. Got an canon 80d which they price matched argos at £799. Also got a 24-70 f4L for £675 which brought the total to £1475. I added a couple of filters to bring the total over £1500 and the guy put it through in 10 different transactions.

Got 10 emails from Amex as he was putting them through. With the £80 cashback on the camera, the £160 on the lens and the £500 from Amex, it brings it down to around £760. So in all a good deal.

Amex have been great with this deal....wasn't on my card but I messaged them to ask why and a very nice chap manually added it to my offers so I just got in on the 31st.

Yes they are great. I have made over £500 cashback this year without any of these offers so I suspect the real value is much higher. I lost my card this year and they sent me a new one the next day. What I liked the most was that they updated my wallet on my iPhone with the details of the new card immediately without me asking, what a great thing to do.

Yes sir, just over £150

Went in to the Oxford Street branch today, I was able to make a purchase of £349 and split it over 2 cards, both with the offer saved. Within a few minutes I received the offer confirmation from Amex that it had been tracked. So hopefully I will receive the credit on both but will have to wait and see. Will update in the next few days.

Ps. Unfortunately Jessops do no gift cards, confirmed in-store.

interesting that it says "offer valid every time". Would that suggest unlimited use until the expiry date? So I could buy £150 gift vouchers multiple times for an effective 1/3 off anything I wanted to buy? I assume Jessops sell vouchers?

C. Transactions that are not eligible

The following transactions are not eligible and will not count towards your spend for the purposes of the offer:

· transactions where you do not spend directly with the merchant (for example, if you buy the merchant’s goods through a third party department store);

· transactions processed through a third party payment processor (for example, PayPal);

· transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded;

· transactions where the merchant does not pass on the information we need to process it properly within the offer period (for example, when their payment systems are down and they cannot process the transaction electronically)

· transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher.

Giftcards are always stated as excluded in Amex deals, but in my experience (and many others) have never failed to work. It's how I spend on most of the deals. Amex don't know what you're buying, as long as it's a transaction meeting the minimum spend you'll be fine.

Great, so how can I go about buying the gift cards? Assume in store only?

I'm after the 80d with the 18-135mm USM lens. That's going to be £1,219.00, thusly I'll need 8 £150.00 gift cards.

With the Jessops/Canon cash back of £80.00 and the 8 sets of £50.00 offer, the body and lens would end up being £739.00, which is a bargain IMO.

It could however all come crashing down on me if it doesn't work! :disappointed:

Right, just had a chat with CS and it seems Jessops don't do any gift cards/vouchers/coupons - this is what they said

So that option is ruled out - has to be a product or services purchase then I am afraid.
wingman0401
7 Dec 16 #16
Damn! Thanks for looking into it guys. That is a massive shame!

The only other way would be to ask the checkout assistant to split the transaction multiple times. Not sure if they'd be able to accommodate that all. Would probably look somewhat suspect, I guess.

Thanks for highlighting this.

Just ordered a Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-150mm to go with my new Olympus O-MD 10.

£169 (reduced from £199) with the £50 Amex off that should be £119 all being well (plus a quid or so Topcashback!!).

There is a Panasonic cashback deal but I don't think buying a lens on its own qualifies.

Do you think they would be willing in-store to split my purchase in to separate multiples of £150 even if using the same card?

Yes, they have - reply #41. It's not that unusual, I normally do it with Amex offers like this and tend to find most places are fine, but it depends if who you get on the till understands how to do it.

I don't think anyone has tried with the same card yet, but the offer suggests you should get cashback twice.

I am interested in a 7d mk2. I called Jessops phone sales to see if they'd put it through as £150 transactions but said they only have ability to do it in 1 chunk, so it's store only. Anyone successfully split it into multiple on 1 card?

Already bought a new lens online for my olympus omd-10 and was just sucked into Jessops store as I walked past.

Any thoughts/experience on when Jessop's start their January sale (the clue isn't always in the name!)? Wondering if it's worth waiting until after Xmas day, but of course before New Year's Eve for a purchase(?)

Considering the Nikon D5300 Digital SLR in Black + 18-55mm AF-P VR Lens at £459 (but £309 if I can split transactions after cashback). I think this may already be price matched against Currys, not sure if there's a way to tell.

The 3 way head looks nice to me and tripod looks ok. I have a ball head tripod gathering dust and my old heavy studio tripod with a 3 way head gets all the use. I think you can get a 3/8 coupler then a hook from a DIY shop for your camera bag to give tripod more stability.

I popped into a store over the weekend and picked up a D7200 and 50mm 1.4 - all split into £151 transactions on the same card - Got £50 off too with a code currently running on the Jessops site for collect in store, with the Nikon cashback and (hopefully) the Amex one too this works out as £1100 worth of gear for about £580. Just waiting for the Amex cashback to track on my online account before submitting everything to Nikon - but got 7x emails from Amex saying I had redeemed the offer
morgie
13 Dec 16 #72
Great. Did you get separate tracking emails for each £151 transactions?

What was the instore code? Was that the default lens it comes with? I'm considering a D5500 that bundled with a case and battery would work out at ~£400 actually spent (after Amex cashback).
Dogbizkits
13 Dec 16 #73
I got separate emails for each £151 transaction so I know Amex tracked them all.

The code was one running over the weekend on certain camera models - so don't think it is live anymore - Was on the Jessops homepage.

I bought it body only and the lens separately, as I wasn't interested in the kit lens - using this option Nikon should refund me £165 cashback too (as there is bonus cashback for lens and body purchased at the same time)
Tomb

16 Dec 16 #78
Hey Dude, congrats!

How will you submit the cashback request to nikon? Will they accept multiple £150 receipts?
morgie
16 Dec 16 #79
You'll get one receipt showing the items and line items for £150 from Jessops, but multiple card receipts. Imagine that'd be fine.
Dogbizkits
16 Dec 16 1 #80
Exactly this. I need to show my purchase receipt and completed warranty cards for each. The purchase receipt only has one line showing the camera and then how I paid for it on it, all on one receipt - so should be pretty easy to submit. If they really want to see the individual card payments too I have them separately, but I'm not sure this will make any difference - as I still bought the camera however I paid for it!

You just have to upload pictures of them to the Nikon website to claim the cashback, so even if they do want to see them all its only a 5 min job for £165 back!
zorbathegeek

My GoPro Hero 5 Black will work out at about £215 after a price match, splitting the transactions and getting some quidco by ordering to pick up in store. Also have pre-ordered in store a GoPro Karma grip which they were able to take payment for now and split across two transactions (plus a battery to take it over £300).
morgie
17 Dec 16 #86
Nice. Where did you get them to price match? I'm tempted to get the Session plus some batteries or something small to tip it just over £150 before cashback.
kebl2555
18 Dec 16 1 #87
It was £325 at Amazon and Halfords a couple of days ago so I called my local Jessops to ask if they would price match. They agree despite the fact it is not on their list of companies they price match against. I then ordered one for store collection so hopefully I'll get the quidco on that, then purchased in store with the agreed match then calculated. I had already bought a Session bundle but decided to return this upgrade so just paid the difference which meant I received £50 off from the original Session purchase plus another £50 when buying the Hero 5 Black.

Why would they? It explicitly says in the terms "Offer valid every time". Almost every other Amex cashback offer says "Valid once per Card" so it's clearly not an oversight. I and many other have had multiple £50 cashbacks from this.

I genuinely can't think of anything to buy that maximises the value of this offer.

Currently got an EOS-M but the M10 looks a sideways step at best.

Doesn't look like they sell accessories for the TomTom Bandit, and they only have a very small selection of dash cams.

Probably ideal if you were after a camera lens anyway.

joebot
20 Dec 16 #96
Did this on the 19th in Bromley: bought an EOS 80D, split over 7 transactions, all on the same card. I received all 7 redemption e-mails from Amex immediately, but the £350 cashback has yet to show up.

Unfortunately it looks like some higher management within Jessops have realised how much cashback they're offering here, and their staff have been instructed not to allow this any more. They might make an exception if you ask nicely / threaten to walk away. They very kindly did for me, but I'm not holding my breath until I see the cashback on my statement!
morgie
20 Dec 16 #97
The 19/12, that was only yesterday(!) - I wouldn't expect to see your credit in your account a day later. You had the tracking emails, give it a few days for the credit. I purchased last Thursday and the credit appeared on my account yesterday.

I don't see the link from your first statement to the above. Have you heard something about them not splitting transactions?
morgie
20 Dec 16 #98
A new lens for your camera? (They're interchangeable right). The Go Pro Session (4) is £149 with a free selfie stick this week. You can probably talk them into a slight discount on it and include a memory card to tip it over £150 spent, £100 after the cashback.
joebot
20 Dec 16 1 #99
Yep, wasn't expecting it to have appeared yet, just saying what's happened so far.
Yes, the store's manager (or sales team leader?) explained this to me. Don't remember his exact words, but they've been specifically told not to allow multiple transactions on one card for the purposes of this offer. Splitting over multiple cards shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think it will take Einstein to work out why this deal won't be repeated next year after it's been abused so much. Shame on the greedy people breaking this up in to multiple transactions.
morgie
20 Dec 16 1 #107
It probably won't be repeated as it's timing now is due to Jessops just starting to take Amex. The deal was for multiple use, I don't think asking to split transactions to make the most of it, when the retailer offers this ability anyway, is anything to feel shame about and I don't see it as abuse.

Personally I wouldn't touch Jessops with a barge pole. It was only a few years ago when they went into liquidation and screwed people over with vouchers that they'd bought in good faith. They upset alot of people!
Sebzygoh
22 Dec 16 #118
Oh wells, the staff at Jessops told me that the £50 cash back will work at Amex end. I was in store purchasing my lens. Perhaps I should try calling Amex.

Well don't buy anything then... What a completely pointless post.

That article is from 2013! It was acquired by Peter Jones shortly after.

Went for it, thanks to Jessops Staff for your patience. 2nd person to take advantage of splitting the payment in the shop I collected from. I have the e-mails, now to await the credits.

22 Dec 16 #123
.. or Jessops going into liquidation (Where do they get these folks from FFS)
nnj10
23 Dec 16 #124
For anyone looking for Sony E mount lenses, SEL50F18 is currently for £108 at John Lewis. Presumably Jessops will price match and with Amex credit and £20 cashback from Sony this will only cost £110. Result.

Note this is APSC lens not full frame.

Edit: it's £180 not £108.
morgie
23 Dec 16 #125
Is there a typo somewhere above? If they price match to £108 you will need to buy something else for at least £42 to meet the £150 spend for the Amex cashback of £50.
nnj10
23 Dec 16 1 #126
Sorry yes there is a typo. It's £180 not £108.

So 180-50-20=110.

Purchase made on the 19th, £350 cashback credited today (23rd). Very pleased!
paul.jacobs
23 Dec 16 2 #128
Had a single £100 credit today on my account from purchase in the 19th. Plus £8 quidco tracked and £1.74 Amex cashback. Brings the gopro down to £239 plus a free bluetooth selfie stick.

Need to see what else I don't need before the offer finishes

24 Dec 16 3 #129
Just back from Jessops. Got an canon 80d which they price matched argos at £799. Also got a 24-70 f4L for £675 which brought the total to £1475. I added a couple of filters to bring the total over £1500 and the guy put it through in 10 different transactions.

Got 10 emails from Amex as he was putting them through. With the £80 cashback on the camera, the £160 on the lens and the £500 from Amex, it brings it down to around £760. So in all a good deal.

Anyone confirm this is still working? Last comment was 2 days ago so before I drop in tomorrow want to make sure it's still under 50,000 people.
matwalaboy
27 Dec 16 2 #131
As long as you managed to load it to your card from your online account, you'd be fine - coz if they have already exhausted the limit it doesn't let you add an offer to your card anymore. Good luck..
karl.pestell
27 Dec 16 1 #132
Good point and yes it still loaded about 20 mins ago.

I'll call the shop tomorrow about their willingness to split the bill three times

27 Dec 16 #133
my purchase on 23rd generated instance Amex tracking emails. but my purchase on the 24th has not triggered a tracking email yet, anyone else encountered this?

27 Dec 16 1 #134
Checked my AMEX account online after my 22nd Dec split purchase and I see "Jessops Offer" cashback of £350! Delighted!!
morgie
27 Dec 16 #135
Not had this on my purchases, but then I didn't purchase on the 24/12. Hopefully all ok, maybe just a bit slower or you'll get no email but it will pay out. If not customer service will sort you out I'm sure.
nelson1j
27 Dec 16 #136

Would be interested to know when you get a tracking email as I won't bother if the offer has been pulled. Cheers
wingman0401
27 Dec 16 #137
So I've just been to Jessops in Merry Hill and have been advised that they do not accept Amex cards at their store. What a wasted trip that was... so much for an 80d.
karl.pestell
27 Dec 16 #138
I've purchased a 700d from Canterbury today and already got the email. My worry is I have only got one and split the purchase over 3 payments.

Looks to still be working but hoping the splitting trick still works
karl.pestell
27 Dec 16 1 #139
Ignore that!!! Just got the other 2 emails so all three tracked so now to wait for the money.

Very happy providing they pay!!!
morgie
27 Dec 16 #140
Very odd. Amex is new to Jessops, hence this promotion.
wingman0401
27 Dec 16 #141
Yeah, I was pretty perplexed. I guess I was unfortunate in that I got served by a member of staff who didn't have the initiative to try it out.

I've tweeted Jessops for clarification, just to make sure they don't have some bias against some stores accepting some cards...

But, I can't really see that being the case.
nnj10
28 Dec 16 #142
Hope Amex extend this offer by another week or so.
Mada06
28 Dec 16 #143
Why didn't you ask to speak to the manager and get them to either try or escalate further?
wingman0401
28 Dec 16 #144
The store was quite busy and he was the only member of staff I could see working, in hindsight I should have pushed further, of course, but at the time I just took his word for it.

A bit annoying, really. I should've pushed more. The next time I can go is on Saturday and that's the last day of the promotion. I'm a bit worried that if I do it on that day, that if there are any delays with applying it to my account, I'll lose out.
morgie
28 Dec 16 #145
As long as your spend is made on the 31/12 you'll be fine. If you're buying in store this is seen instantly by Amex and you should receive the tracking email. Cashback will then appear after the promotion has ended, that's 'normal' They have a clause about it potentially taking 4 to 8 weeks or something silly but I've never had to wait longer than 5 business days for any cashback for an Amex offer to show in my account after spending.
nnj10
28 Dec 16 #146

28 Dec 16 #149
How easy was it to split transactions?

How do you convince Jessops to let you split transactions, what's reason do you give?

I want to try it today on the way home from work, any advice on the approach greatly appreciated.

thanks
morgie
28 Dec 16 #150
Very easy, staff seemed more than happy to help (max 10 separate transactions - which is a system limit they have). Only remember one mention of this thread or one that spun off with a separate deal where staff seemed slightly reluctant. I explained it was to benefit from an Amex offer, normally the easiest way, but even before than point they didn't seem to think it was that odd to want to split transactions.
WalterSmith
28 Dec 16 1 #151
The staff where I got my camera from, Edinburgh, were totally fine about splitting the bill ... LOL

I was the 2nd person who had asked.

I got 7 e-mails on my phone whilst in the store. 5 days later I see £350 credited to my AMEX.

To only have 600 degrees heat for this thread is a joke. One of the best deals I've had from Hotukdeals in all my years!
morgie

Whats the max number of transactions someone has done on a single card, only asking as my mastercard stops if I do too much shopping some days, very annoying
WalterSmith
28 Dec 16 #154
7 for me
WalterSmith
28 Dec 16 #155
That's why I asked earlier in the thread about why cards don't get blocked after a few transations in a few mins ... Capital One would have done that!

However AMEX seemed happy to allow my card to be charged 157x7 in 7 mins ... Happy Days!
karl.pestell
29 Dec 16 #156
Above seems to suggest 10 is the max imposed by Jessops... Amex don't care what you spend. I used to put £000's through on my card for work and it was never declined, even when travelling to random places around the world, never an issue.

My MasterCard is a different story and been blocked about 5 times.

Once the Jessops transactions appear on your Amex statement, how soon does the cashback get credited back to the account?
morgie
31 Dec 16 #163
Roughly 3 business days from my experience and I believe others on here. Might take a bit longer at the moment due to the public holidays. They do say it can take up to 8 weeks or something, but I've never had to wait beyond a week for any Amex offer to credit.

Glad that this proved a useful deal and a big saver for those who could take advantage. Still available online up to midnight I guess if there's anything at that sweet spot of £150! Jessops staff seem to have been excellent from my personal experience and it seems a lot of the posters here. Lots of product knowledge coupled with good customer service. I'm sure they'll now be happy to not have quite as many requests to split transactions  Enjoy your photography in 2017!

Thanks, best deal i've noticed on here for a long time, possibly ever! Strange that it remained fairly low profile.

Got £650 worth of new GoPro gear (including Karma Grip) for £450, split over 4 transactions. The Karma Grip probably won't be significantly discounted anywhere for a long time so a particularly excellent deal on that.

I would think it's normal to still be waiting from them due to the public holidays. Hopefully it'll show up tomorrow or Friday for you.
