Doubt it. "Not obliged" is the wording in the staff memo so clearly they're aware of it and aren't going to change their position. Guess this is a good way to tell whether a store deserves our future business..
knack
18 Dec 16 #781
That's because it's up to the individual store. They've been given the go ahead to honour one bundle per person but it's management discretion and they have no obligation to do so.

email from customer service

As part of the Customer Support Team, your correspondence has been passed to me to investigate and respond.

The Amazon dot bundle pack was advertised for £42.50 on our website, this was an error and was rectified as soon as possible. Due to the error any orders that were placed and not already dispatched have been cancelled as per our terms and conditions of sale.

I can see that your order has been dispatched and is currently with Royal mail, as this is already out for delivery the deal will be honoured.

If there is anything else I can help with please let me know.

From currys -

Hi Victoria,

This was a pricing error that was noticed yesterday evening and removed from sale at the earliest opportunity. Our colleagues in store have been advised that sadly we wouldn't be able to honour any reservations and tried to contact all affected customers prior to visiting the branch.

We have however agreed to honour the sale of any customer who has already made payment via our website, which I believe you were alluding to. I offer my apology once more for any disappointment.

Ok, just picked up three bundles from PC World.

If anyone is wondering whether they will get theirs, this may be good news.
I ordered three sets pretty quickly yesterday, click and collect without a set time. Today, I read all the info about honouring one set customers only (sometimes) etc., and thought that I was out of luck and was just waiting for my cancellation email.
Then at about 3pm, an email arrived saying it was ready to be picked up. The good news in doing it this way is that it is simply a package that I collected. The chap behind the counter asked to confirm that they were Dots, but there was no money amounts on any paperwork and so nothing was flagged up.
So – if you haven't heard anything yet, it may be god news.

well the email says different, it clearly says when putting them through don't put them through as a bundle, put through individual with the second as a promotion discount. that email arrived instore this morning. it does say not obliged so maybe they are just being awkward or using your reserve number for staff

my wife just went into the Dunfermline branch as unbeknown to me she had reserved this as a surprise Xmas present for me and I had done the same for her and she managed to pick up both orders just by asking (we admitted what we had done when we both got a cancellation phone call seconds apart last night) no arguments. she said the guy at the till couldn't believe the price and was happy to put it through for her. So, like a business, they'll register the Sale and pay taxes right?

There is only one rule here and it's he/she gets off their backside and goes to collect the goods before any procedures have reached the stores wins.... You know that at this price, sitting back and expecting it to turn up a few days later via the post has little or no chance.

I didn't storm just expected not to get it. I just explained that the email does say not obliged but if putting through it can't go through as a bundle but as a discount. Ask them to read the email as it does clearly say only customers who ordered one bundle. I got mine an hour ago. Maybe they are hoping customers will not bother trying. I also mentioned I know it is an error but HO are honouring only one and tell them other stores are honouring it

Well I just got a voicemail this morning to say sorry but there was an error and they wouldn't be able to honor the order. They were apologetic and said hope I don;t waste a trip down which I thought was fair enough. Its a shame I should have gone last night but couldn't get there on time.

Never mind you can't win them all. Well done to those who managed to get them and thanks to OP for spotting, don't think I've ever seen a deal get that hot so quick

Well done for everyone who managed to make it to a branch last night or got them sent out in time.

Went to collect my reservation for the special priced bundle but the rude 'customer services agent' who was working on the till (reminding me it was his job to keep customers happy) refused to honour it. After half an hour of holding my ground, showing both him and the even more rude 'duty manager' the evidence from the website screen grab, my reservation email, the actual transaction sheet they had printed out for £42.50, they still wouldn't budge (even walking off to joke about it). I asked to speak to the head office or customer services while I was still at the till, and they eventually conceded to let me use their landline to phone the premium number and spent another half hour on hold. By which time, the store was about to close and I was asked to leave. Absolutely disgusting customer service and I'll be chasing again today, if for what it's worth to complain. We've spent quite a bit of money at this store but I won't be buying from any of this retail group again.

Ha. I didn't think that far ahead...I was too busy smirking at the rude staff member who thought getting a manager to tell me they wouldn't honour it would work in her favour. Unfortunately the manager had a bit more sense.

Give it another try. The article has 3 bullet points and the first states anyone ordering more than 1 shouldn't be honoured, second one says anyone with an order of 1 and isn't happy with being told it won't be honoured should get it honoured to keep "a good customer" and the third was that any staff orders should be cancelled with immediate effect so don't try use a staff discount

So if this site is about helping people save a bit of money (which it is),then why don't you post a deal to help others ?

You actually quoted your quote , you didn't say roughly. As a guideline on your comment though, MyHermes are probably inline with the cheapest. Up to 1kg - £2.75 Insurance up to £40 - £1.30 - £4:05.

I'm not really picking an argument here, just saying there isn't really much profit to made unless people are foolish to pay £39. Personally I'd pay the extra fiver for a proper warranty.

Good luck with it though. (no sarcasm)

His calculations are wrong, profit would be £9.18. I would guess less than that as well as most people wouldn't want 2nd class which is all £4 postage will cover. Then there's the actual fee of £39. I guess you are reliant on the mugs out there to buy it as anybody in there right mind shouldn't buy one of these without a warranty to save a fiver.

If people were still ordering single units would still be flagged, with real time stock systems these days it would instantly show as a peak in sales and kick a number of systems in to action and probably trigger a reorder of more stock for example. Makes it way easier to see mistakes and stop them quickly, especially as many systems now automatically send shipping orders to warehouses

If Amazon have any sense, after seeing this thread, they should match the offer. Taking a hit on a few at this time of year to get them to market would surely help future sales as more people will be exposed to them at Christmas.

I guess PC World were trying to implement the same offer as

By all means take legal advice, only stands when an item has clearly been sold in error and you can prove that the purchaser knew of the error before purchase and since its all printed here and the price is less than half the price of the single unit it wouldn't be difficult to prove. However if you refused they would have to take you to court for £40 which probably would not be worth it!

Just an update.

I called Currys CEO and asked him if this was a genuine deal. He said "everything on our site is a genuine deal." I replied, "great, but just to obtain 100% clarification, you are selling one for more than the twin pack duo, which would make Currys a huge loss in revenue." He then realised the mistake, thanked me, and replied he was about to delete the offer from the site. He was about to hang up on me, but I said I have a followup question. He was frustrated, but allowed me to continue. I asked what would happen to orders that had gone through. He again thanked me for reminding him of all those orders that would have gone through, and said he was would immediately phone all stores and tell them not to honour the reservations at any cost and would also cancel all online orders. He hung up after promising me an individualised 50% off any product discount code.

Don't worry. I phoned the CEO, Sebastian James, he was thankful for me alerting him to this glitch.

As a thank you he is letting me keep 10 of the 16 orders, but they will be cancelling everyone else's orders, and have placed all stores with active reserve and collection reservations on a 24-style lockdown.

We spoke at length and basically this is a deal they were hoping to run in the days leading up to Christmas but the price had not been re-adjusted for the Brexit currency devaluation. They'll be re-activating the offer soon for £142.50.

Ha ha - its says in all contracts that a contract is not formed until its accepted by the business and the goods have been shipped, also it is perfectly legal to ask you to return a mispriced item or ask you to pay the difference if you wish to keep it in cases where the deal it to good to be true and you have taken advantage of a given situation

If anyone tried to collect from stockport, ask for 'Lee.TheManager'. He loves to explain to customers in a reasonable and not at all arrogant way that they have wasted their trip due to a mistake by the company he represents. Better still, do it about 10 minutes before closing, as delaying him leaving seems to make his general cheerful and happy to help disposition even better. Give that this is a misprice rather than a price promised by their customer services, I imagine he will be even more determined to give you a happy customer experience. I got the impression his staff thought the same of him as i do too.

Pretty much as these don't do anything much more. But they're good for imagining that they're some new fangled whizzy science thing that's not already been thought of. Depends how easily you're parted with money I suppose. I mean it's the equivalent of a Bluetooth device for your car that tells you how much petrol you have left.
Or you could just look at the petrol gauge.
