I do not think for one moment uglybeautyqueen is condonning drinking and driving as in going out for drinks and then driving home - this is more about going to a party in the evening - having way more than teh legal limit and NOT driving home ..... but then are you still over the limit 12, 18 or even 24 hours later ! That is when many get caught ! drinking 10-15 units - going home at say midnight and then driving to work teh next morning thinking all is OK because you have slept and feel OKish !!!!

So, my tuppenceworth. I work for emergency services so know the horrors of drunk driving. But I believe there is a place for these tests. Last year my family were all over for New Year. They drank throughout the day, but no one was visibly drunk. At 3pm the NEXT day I gave each of them one of those kits and they ALL failed. This was the message I wanted to convey and it worked. One of them STILL failed the following day. Now I know with confidence that none of my family, through ignorance or stupidity as opposed to malice, will ever be a drunk driver. So go on, buy them for your mates/family and show them just how long alcohol stays in your system. I think they will be as shocked as my family were and it might cause them to think twice. If it does then it's money well spent.

who's gonna check if they're over the limit?.. if that was the case then there wouldn't be so many alcohol related crimes

Just because some people don't check doesn't mean others won't!

I've got a few just in case I need them, remember you might feel okay to drive but that doesn't mean you are.

Even the day after, the driver who killed my friends father was "day after the night before driver", if you know you have to drive the day after why drink the night before, I am not saying don't drink just don't get behind a wheel and drive, there are other ways to get to your destination the next day

I'm sorry to hear that, I'm not saying it's okay to drink the night before you drive. I'm just saying that it's a good idea to have these around if you do! I have got some just in case, I'm not a big drinker and don't plan on having much but these are good to have a round for your own piece of mind

Sorry, not having a dig at you in person, I just know the devastation this has on a family and I don't think these breathalysers would give true readings, so please be careful when using them

Great idea, but to be fair you shouldn't need it because you shouldn't drink any alcohol then think about driving

Struggling to see how this is a "perfect" if you are that much of a drunk you need one of these you deserve the full consequences of what happens when you get on the road because it will be your fault. you are putting others at risk as soon as you have just one drink and consider getting in a car.

I wouldn't trust any of these devices, Watchdog ran a feature a few months ago and most gave an incorrect reading suggesting they were safe to drive.

Good deal. I know people who have failed over 24 hours after they stopped drinking.
Considering this gives you peace of mind or an awareness that you shouldn't drive, 59p is great value compared to the £000's it will potentially cost you if you are caught or heavens forbid involved in an accident.

Some people need to get off their high horse. As a morning after tool, if you had a few pints the night before and were planning on driving, taking the responsibility to check first is surely a good thing. It's like saying you shouldn't check your lights work on your car

these things are rubbish will say you are safe to drive an hour after having a few drinks a toy at best

I bought a digital one last year and it amazes me how many times I am over the limit the next day. Even just having 4 pints with dinner and then using it at 9am when i feel sober, it sometimes still shows me as over the limit. Heat added.

Why does anybody need to drink alcohol anyway. The whole drinking culture is stupid. People say they haven't got a drink problem but can't go from one week to the next without a 'fix'

That's what I said if shows over the limited don't drive I'm not saying use to say you safe to drive

Here's an expert view on drink driving, I've been there done that, the only cure for me was to not drink alcohol ever again. The crazy thing is how nochalent people are, many a time I've been to friends houses, they know I've been a drink driver and they still offer me alcohol, one is ok they say etc etc. I've had to get rid of these people out of my life. Despite the mechanics of addiction (Google DeltaFosB) which are massively weighed against you, everyone has a choice whether to change or not. The UK has a ridiculous drinking culture. I decided to change and if you know me and you offer me alcohol I know you're not a real friend. I will never use one of these devices because I know I'll never need one, and if you're honest with yourselves you don't need one either.

I never drink when I'm driving, but this reminds me I should really put in for my licence one day
