Ok, worth a punt, technically out of stock but price has just changed. So cheap its worth the risk - I'm having a go. 4Tb for £55.60 someones fudged that up. Wanted to risk posting to share this with fellow HUKD'ers !!! Stock ETA 23rd Jan.

Heated great price. Well worth putting an order in. Small chance they might honour with some limitations e.g. one per customer. Very good price but still not like they giving it away for nothing either, at £55.60 they might break even or make just a small loss that might be worth it for the potential repeat custom you never know....

Isn't Maxtor Seagate's budget range... and yes Matrox did produce good graphics cards back in the day, they were miles better than the S3 Virge that was the other major card at the time back then. Then Nvidia and ATI (now AMD) upped their game, and the rest pretty much died out.

Matrox's niche ended up being very, very good analog output as the had by far the cleanest VGA signal for those driving expensive CRTs with BNC connectors. ATI were a distant second and all the others were way behind. Before digital displays and ports like DVI, having a clean analog signal was really important for the resolution junkies (2048x1536 @ 85Hz, or lower resolutions at far higher refresh rates). It's only recently that digital LCD panels have been able to approach that and since 4:3 has almost disappeared 1536 vertical is almost still leading edge - although a CRT monitor to that justice would weigh a ton, cost a fortune and produce a lot heat.

Legally any online retailer worth their salt would have the T&Cs adjusted for this so that the contract is only completed and legally binding upon delivery. They have got wise to having to make large losses honouring co*k ups. So at any point even if money is taken and you have an order confirmation they can cancel or amend ect and you have not got a leg to stand on.

Good Afternoon,
You recently placed an order with us for Matrox M3 Black 4TB External Hard Drive Info on Hardrive. I’m afraid this particular product has proved very popular and we’ve sold out.
As a result we’ve had to cancel your order. You have not been charged.

Yep, except this is a win or draw situation, there is no lose as you won't be out of pocket with it in the end.

It will be a loss for some who feel they should get it
nige182
15 Dec 16#174
Yeah, but that is not a real loss. If you bet £50 on a game but had a money back if you lost deal, that is a win/draw too but even of they 'lost' the bet and got their money back, people would feel they should have won as they bet on the outcome they expected.

Have to say I tend to fall into that category quite a lot with these miss prices. Sometimes end up wishing I'd never seen them when they get cancelled as I find you sometimes feel as if you 'lost' something, even though you technically haven't where as if you remained blissfully unaware it wouldn't affect your mood cos you would never know it even happened.
I find I tend to feel more entitled to it as time passes too, which I think is at least somewhat understandable, as reasonably they should inform us within a reasonable time frame if they aren't going to fulfil the orders. So I'll be royally ticked off if they email me on 29th January to tell me they won't be delivering my hard drive on the 30th!

They seem to have pulled it altogether now "111-3498 Currently not available for sale" They probably have more orders than they can handle already, though I'm very uncertain we will get anything. My order does show up on the site at least but has a incorrect order value of £0 and if I click the order number for more details it says "No valid data found for this order" so doesn't look great, unless they don't add in the details till it comes back in but looks fishy....
I still have their email confirmations that do show all the correct info but doubt they would help much if they decide to blanket cancel. Also no money taken so i suspect they don't charge on order, someone said they had been charged earlier but suspect they were either fibbing or used a payment method that always charges in advance like Paypal (if they even take it).

16 Dec 162#188
Got it too, from Emma Botfield, the Botfield is right as it's such a generic message it could well have been from a chat bot. Aparently "this particular product has proved very popular and we’ve sold out"
Of course that is a total lie as the product was on back order so they never actually had it in stock it was to order for when it came in stock. Hate it when companies treat their customers like morons and so blatantly lie to them. If they had been honest and said sorry we screwed up and miss priced it so we had to cancel I would have more respect for them.
I'm going to complain to them about it and tell them I am more than happy to wait as long as needed for it and ask if they can therefore reinstate my back order for it. They almost certainly won't but i want to complain in any event as I hate big companies screwing up and blatantly lying about it....

As far as I'm aware they never took any money from anyone, they say they only take money on despatch and as no one got one you can only assume no money was taken, I certainly never had money taken

Oh alright, then I take what I said back.
Note that I never made an order myself, but I thought that money was taken and the price might be honoured based on some of the comments here.
Non-honoured misprice is a waste of everyone's time though.

Anyway my WD external died a death yesterday after sitting in the draw doing sweet FA! I bought a Seagate to copy from the other disk AND WHO would believe it Seagate failed on the same day I start using it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can somebody give me a better way of backing up that does not cost the earth PLEASE!
If it was in stock then I would say it is definitely worth a punt, with an eta of 23rd January. No chance.
Not sure they're gonna honour this...:disappointed:
But heat added anyway!

even the Mfr. Part No. HX-M401TCB/GM comes up as a Maxtor so ordering will be a waste of time.
if they had under-priced (or misprice) a

then they may have to honour the sale.
now if you walk into RS store and buy it at that price then that's a different story
Has anyone had payment taken yet?

I won't be holding out much hope of these actually being delivered.
edit: just had an order confirmation come through on email.

As we cannot obtain the basic security check we must ask for a bank transfer instead, which your bank should be able to arrange if you do not have online banking.
I have attached our bank details – if you could email me a copy of the bank confirmation of the transaction I will then use this to trace receipt through our central finance department.
Many thanks for your assistance & apologies for any inconvenience."
Wow, I don't think I'll be doing that
Thank you for placing your order. We'll email you again to confirm prices and delivery dates.
did people get this first?
Also has anyone had payment taken for their order? It isn't showing anything from my card but my online banking typically takes at least 24 hours to show transactions so it probably hasn't updated....
Not a limit on how many you can order either as I tried signed in and as guest and same message.
Looks like this is officially over, only question looming is can and will they honour any of the existing orders?

I hate it when companies do that, but they generally couldn't care less as long as they are getting paid.
