Normally. Once I get the 75% offer and if I have nothing to sell at the time, I will make lots of listings and amend it when I have something to sell.
For example, I may title it simply "Nike Trainers" Price £1000 and "Details to follow. I will set it at 30 days which will give me the maximum length of time to find something to sell.

Really? Wow, I've got to say I've never considered trying that.
Luckily we have quite a lively house and I'm able to defend myself but there's very little you can do if someone's out to do something criminal.
My favourite one was someone turned and was after "one of them fitbit thingies." So they turned up and then asked what it does and then decided it's not quite what they were looking for.
Like. WTF.

I agree with everything you said, especially recently, but i suggest never meeting at your address or the buyers/sellers address, i usually go to a Mc donalds, plenty of people around, somewhere to sit to.

I refuse to give out my number, and have the address on my profile that shows on the map as only vaguely correct!

True. I try the same. Last night I spoke to the person and gave my details - no show but hey, you're right.

There's loads of time wasters, but it's completely free and I know that I don't get fleeced for ludicrous fees. I only give my details out to people after plenty of other stuff has been discussed and I only accept cash on collection. I tend to get more money for my stuff than fleabay, without the fee's, but it isn't as quick. Some things take weeks or months to sell. If I'm in a rush I'll bite the bullet and stick it up on an auction.

Maybe but if your original listing has only one picture, you can normally change the picture without issue. All my fake listings only have one picture.
I've not tried changing a pic on an original listing with multiple pics for a long time but I think it incurrs extra charges.

I've not sold anything for ages so I guess that's why I NEVER get emails from then with discounts. Guess I'll stick to Gumtree...

Generally it is people like you who get the offers to encourage you back to selling. I have several eBay accounts and received the free FVF listings on an account I had not sold on for a few months. The 25% off offer was to an account I used more recently.

Gumtree attracts the biggest idiots.
List item for £400 and you get a message "or8, I'll give you £200."
Or you a close a deal, buyer never turns up and you're just waiting for someone to randomly mug you as they now have your address.

Poor showing by eBay. Await 50/75% off or max fees £1.

I used the 50% off one and sold a high value item but buyer accidently bought it and won't pay. Sadly that doesn't help me in any way as these offers are very hit and miss. Now I'm something more reasonable pops up again. Sucks.

Just looked through some history on eBay and where I've changed the category I've been charged the full 10% whoops!
The ones where it's been similar/small change/no change I've kept the discounted rate.

I never change categories and I find my buy it now item still sells. I figured that most buyers just use the search facilty instead of clicking through the menus. When I buy something, I know that I always use the search to find the item I want quicker.
For example, I sold a "My friend Bing" toy in the Mobile phone category and a Grohe Shower Mixer in the Men trainers category.
Of course, I don't recommend doing this if you are listing in auction format.

I did bloody well jumping on the last two £1 FVF deals they had, great for more expensive items but will hold out for a higher percentage discount before I go and sell the many smaller items I've got to work through...

I got the 25% off email but if I try and activate it I get the message that the promotions finished.
Huh?

Wow can't believe this is hot, maybe it benefits bigger sellers? I sell a few items a year and always wait for the 75% off / sell for £1 / sell for free / get a £xx voucher if you sell offers. These seem to be emailed regularly enough to sustain my infrequent selling anyway!

Why would it be cold? A heads up for people looking to sell at normal fees over the next few days. And as with every deal on here, you can always wait and hope that the price goes lower. Did you buy anyone presents before Christmas? or did you wait for the boxing day sales? and then give it to them.

You've locked the 75% off fees and have 30 days to change it to something that you actually want to sell. You need to do the fake listings before the deadline.
escortboy
28 Dec 161#15
If you change to a different category it charges you £2.50 and I'm not sure whether they put you on the default fees also?
Maybe listing things that you know you generally sell would overcome this.
Great tip though I've used it for the 75% and still have 10 days or so left on some.

But that 75% would have a dead line rite even if you are not selling?

28 Dec 16#11
I only really list anything if there's a double up voucher offer on the go - sell your item for £xx and eBay will give you the same amount in a voucher. It's worth the risk then, for me it is anyway. I don't know why they wont permanently reduce fvf's to a reasonable level, even 5% would go a long way with some former sellers but saying that you're still treading a fine line with stars, defects, fraudsters and percentages.
Speculator
28 Dec 161#10
Good if you need to sell something now.
These offers are normally weekly, 25%, 50% the following week then 75% then back down to 25% etc.

Do you think that if there's 75% discount on fees you've got a load more competition so will either not sell it, or achieve a lower selling price therefore you've saved 75% of nothing/lower selling price.
