The trouble is the very small connectors are not really suitable for carrying up to two amps, particularly when you disconnect or connect them whilst charging

Really ! ? I have used this version and have had no problems with this, on multi different phones ?!?
Also used the cheaper(31p) OTG, the cable version and the one that looks like a AnDROID(81p)
All from Gearbest and all work fine :smiley:

You have been warned.
I had a handful of these and each one of them had the exact same fault. When plugged into the phone, for some reason it causes the phone to write folders and wrecks the SD card.
I have no idea from a technical perspective what goes wrong but I was able to reproduce the same problem on 4 different SD cards sinply plugging it into the phone.
I believe it may well be the way it interacts with the phone to see it as an OTG connection but cant say for sure.
I wish I had checked first rather than plugging in with my actual SD card.
Be careful and test it first

That's probably your phone trying to format the drive, this has nothing to do with it. It's basically just wires inside, there's no active components.
