As an Electrician, I recommend that unless you have confidence (not to be mistaken for ignorance) when working with electricity, then you should really consider the following when these deals are posted (which they often are):
1) Do you really need one, or will a long extension reel suffice for the times you plan on using power in the garden?
2) Before you go tinkering with your existing installation, do you know the difference between spurring off the ring main and having a spur on the ring main? A spur is often preferred instead of taking the ring main outside.
3) If you turn the power back on (because hopefully you turned it off beforehand :wink: , and had the right equipment present to ensure it is in fact on the correct circuit) and then it trips straight away, you would be comfortable fault finding.
4) Do you have a RCD protection? I wouldn't be caught spraying a jet wash near a socket without it.
Sorry if this seems like an arsey message - it's meant as a awareness thing before you start disconnecting sockets and potentially hurting yourself or causing a fire (because there's nothing a loose neutral loves more), but I've done this long enough to know when a DIYer starts tinkering and years later I'm in there house trying to fault find. If you're confident, go for it. If not, and you're mates with a sparky he'll probably do it for a drink and you know it's been done safely. These are great and the price is about right.

The main problem with these is they only take a standard plug. Which is a pity as so many outdoor electrical items, Xmas lights etc, have a large plug which reduces the voltage and wont fit. You can of course use a great big weatherproof box, but they are quite ugly and a bit of a faff. Not voting as this item is a regular price.

​yeh designa curve is still being sold, i agree wont touch it, it's horrible to work with. iv found that cef denmans and yesss are all getting outpriced by screwfix recently the LAP range there is half decent aswell. Especially the box of 50 LAP 5w led bulbs you can get for £50 amazing value i was paying £4 a bulb until recently.

Can I take this in the bath?

Personally I wont have one of these outside without an RCD.

​very good advice, as a fellow spark i fitted one of these last week and was impressed by it for £10. Outdoor sockets are £16 at my Electrical wholesalers (denmans).

Socket is fine for the money, but the clips are a bit of a pita!

This regular price so not sure about it being a deal. Coincidentally I just bought an outdoor socket from Screwfix and asked to see this one posted plus another they have at £12.99 which is also the regular price. Comparing the two together I paid the extra £3 as it just seemed a better build. Time will tell. Nothing against OP but HUKD would be unusable if everyone posted a regular price item as a deal.

​No and no. I'm a joiner by trade but I'm fairly competent with basic electrics and plumbing. If you're unsure then obviously get an electritian to do it.

Do you not need to be part p certified to do outdoor electrics? Or if you run off a spur is it non-notifiable even if it's outside?

Fitted one last week, used the pressure washer near it, so gave it a good showering, all good.

is the waterproof good enough to have this on a wall open to full on rain?

Got 3 in the garden, seem to be doing well. As said the clips are a bit cumbersome in the cold but certainly seem to stop the moisture.
