the redmi 4 prime is on this site as well for £127 Inc DHL delivery with 4000mah 1080p snap625 fingerprint scanner 3gb 32gb if anyone's interested. I myself just ordered one
Don't bother if you have O2 4G, this will not support it as O2 uses 800Mhz. Also, you will not get Three's 4G in its entirety, as they use both 1800 and 800Mhz.

That'll also apply to Vodafone as well then, as the 2600MHz is mainly used for indoor schemes and some city centre coverage.

Three only use 800Mhz for VoLTE and only supported on a tiny fraction of mainstream phones. iPhone, Samsung, LG, Sony. See the Three site for full list.

So yeah as you said Vodafone is limited as they use 800mhz too.
You can get the Redmi 3S with Band 20 support (and 3GB/32GB) from Banggood and various Aliexpress sellers. Unfortunately, you're looking at around £110 for this (the 3S without band 20 can be found for 25 quid less).
Oddly enough, you can also get a Global version (with Band 20) of the Redmi 3 Note Pro from Eternal Team on Aliexpress for around this price. That's only a 2GB/16GB phone, but with a 5.5" screen and a much, much faster Snapdragon 650 processor. Ridiculously cheap price for the specification.

If you look at 4g site, you will see that Three uses both spectrum. This is a fact as I had ID mobile in an imported device.
ID mobile used 1800mhz and that is off Three. See below taken from the 4g site.
Three 4G Network Overview
Types of 4G from Three:
Standard 4G – Around 5 times faster than a standard 3G network.
4G from Three uses the following network frequency:
800 MHz (0.8 GHz) and 1800 MHz (1.8 GHz)

Doing some digging before purchasing and on PCAdvisor:
I'm not sure on your point? If this phone has or has not got 800Mhz it's irrelevant as far as Three's network is concerned as its not a VoLTE (super voice) supported device.

I think the point they are making could be a result of them not reading your reply fully :smirk: To me, it seems as though they stopped reading after seeing "Three only use 800mhz" and probably assumed that meant you were saying 1800mhz isn't used at all.
Great price but unless this has a Global ROM (or if there's an official ROM that can be flashed), it's going to be full of Chinese regional bloatware which will drive you nuts.
Redmi 3 / 4 are great budget level phones but I'd avoid any without the Global ROM.

Depends where you live. I'm in London and get 3's 4G/LTE everywhere I go. 800mhz is only relevant in rural areas where there are big distances between masts as the 800mhz signal travels further. In towns/cities you should be fine.
The point is on the three network only three approved phones can use super voice their VoLTE service and this is limited to a small selection of mainstream phones. No Xiaomi phone can use it irrespective of if the manufacturer added VoLTE to the phone.
Three's site lists compatible phones (although not up to date, as Blade v7 not listed but works)
So if you have a phone that is compatible with super voice you will use it where band 20 is available. If your phone is not compatible (like the above) then you won't need band 20 for three as you won't be able to use it.

You need to bear in mind that that list is likely to be incomplete, not least because the Xiaomi phones aren't sold in the UK. If you look the Mi forums, numerous people have got various Xiaomi phones working with VoLTE, though admittedly, there are some flakey issues with it with regard to certain carriers. The Redmi 4 is still a bit new. It really needs someone to test real world compatibility with 3's VoLTE in the UK. With 3's implementation of VoLTE it seems to be the case that some phone need some sort of patch from 3 in order to get them to work. Can't see them ever providing a patch for a non-UK phone though. If a VoLTE is an absolute must for everyone, then the only way they can be sure is to go for something from 3's list or wait until someone confirms compatibility in the UK.

As I said the list is out dated but you can put your phone make in the box to check. Three don't list and xiaomi phones and unless they start selling them (which is very unlikely) they will never get the firmware patch needed to use super voice and band 20.
So for this phone and many like it 4g is only going to be an issue on the O² network and to a slight degree on Vodafone. Three's network is irrelevant.

I suspect you're right as none of the One Plus phones are supported by any of the carriers in the UK in terms of VoLTE. I guess they're reluctant to support a phone when there's no profit margin in it for them and its not one of their commercial partners.
That said, I don't think having VoLTE is that much of an issue for the vast majority of people at the present time given that it's still in its infancy and the need for the other caller to also be VoLTE enabled for better call clarity. If I didn't have an S7, I wouldn't be busting a gut at the present time to go out and buy a UK VoLTE compatible phone, unless I was already in the market for a premium price phone.

Xiaomi released 3 versions of the Redmi 4. The standard Redmi 4 would be a newer Redmi 3S and Redmi 4 Prime with 1080p would be a newer Redmi 3S Pro/Prime. Redmi 4A is a cheaper, basic entry level phone.

No, this won't be anywhere near as good, but excellent for the money as a temporary solution perhaps before you decide on one that competes with or betters the Galaxy Note 4 (GN4).
One main downside of this compared to your GN4 will be the average camera.
Can I ask what is wrong with your GN4 - has it developed a fault or become slow or something else?

This particular phone won't rival it. This is a Xiaomi entry level budget phone whilst Galaxy Note line is Samsung flagship level. It may be fine for emails and social media apps but I would suggest looking into the Redmi Note line instead. They'd be more comparable. The Redmi Note 3 Pro is a popular choice since it has a B20 international version which means it supports all UK networks. 5.5" is a common size for lots of Chinese phones. If you type '5.5' in Hukd search, there'll be lots of choice with varying prices and specs. If you wanted to buy in UK, there are options like Huawei and their Honor line. If you wanted something more high end, Oneplus 3. In terms of cost, you won't find something at this price point which rivals a Galaxy Note 4. Some phones in the £150 range may rival it in terms of screen size and processor power but other things like camera and build would be of lower quality. If emails and social media is your main usage then I reckon a lot of sub £200 phones nowadays would be sufficient.

There are so many phones with all UK bands. Why buy phone made only to work in China.
it's really not working as it should the camera has been knackered since I got it and now it crashes once it gets down to 5% battery power. I had gn3 before this and can't really see any difference in them.

Even O2's band 20 4G signal doesn't cover the whole country or many rural areas:
