Bought one just like this two weeks ago and it's a must for those that still use their Wiis to play GameCube or Wii games. It definitely improves the picture quality a lot.

I use Component cables for my Wii and original XBOX. Which I still play on a lot, though mainly for emulation.
Whilst researching a new TV, I noticed some are no longer offering a component input.
So this seems perfect instead of buying a more expensive component to HDMI converter.
It's a shame though, never had any problems with my component cables, picture quality was a big improvement back in the day form scart, composite etc.

These are handy adaptors if you need hdmi or the audio connector. However they are no improvement over component if that's what anyone's expecting.

The only thing I'd recommend is a Google search and have a read. I remember looking at these Wii to Hdmi adapters a while back and seeing a YouTube video ("Geek Redneck Review") where they mentioned it got really hot, enough that he disconnected it. Just something to bear in mind.
"But this one looks different", they mentioned in the video that the one pictured wasn't the one received.

I've used one of these for years, always been fine. However one thing to note is the audio is over driven - It'll sound really loud and somewhat distorted, to fix that simply plug in a set of headphones into the jack at the back of the adapter. Sound will still come through the HDMI still, but now the sound will be fine.

from the sample... seems to be a bit brighter but also seems to produce more 'jaggies'
tbh the component signal seems smoother but moot point if no component input!

Heat. I notice there is a separate 3.5mm audio output. Presumably the audio is still carried on the main HDMI output and the 3.5mm output is just an additional audio source?

That seems to be the idea, I don't use the 3.5mm audio output it has.
Edit: When connected to the Wii it also shows up a blue cool light for some reason.

Bought one of these 6 years ago to use the Wii with a computer monitor and it has never left the Wii since. Works perfectly fine.

From a comparison video the component looks darker and greyish. Even though I own the official Wii component I can't compare because my current TV has no component in the back.

My TV doesn't have component so I just bought a Wii2HDMI. The official Wii component will still get use on my other HDTV.

Only a handful (less than 10) PAL GameCube games will actually play in 480p. NTSC is the only way to go when playing GameCube games.

The GameCube component is rare and expensive, plus the way to make PAL GC games is not an easy one.
Anyway, played Star Fox Assault with it today and it looked pretty good. Can't say I enjoy the game's ground battle stages but Arwing's stages are mindblowingly fantastic.

bought one a while ago to connect a wii to a projector via HDMI not bad considering its after market and it's cheap
