Seems to be about the cheapest you can get a brand new Wii U. It is the basic version with only 8GB of storage, but you can always plug in an extra USB stick for more space. Super Smash Brothers is still £43.99 on Amazon.

I thought the basic Wii U was stop manufactured in April(must be the left overs and now the premium, should see them coming down in price from the stores....
Nintendo nearly went broke, due to Wii U. They are not making any more flagship consoles, getting a partner Nvidia, they will be getting more software developers interested,

You do know Nintendo have more money in the console sector than Microsoft and Sony combined? That's why they can afford to make mistakes like the Wii U and still have money to make another 4 console generation failures.

Always been suspicious of keeping consoles on their sides after my first and second PS2's died fairly quickly after being stored and played on their sides, so it'd be going flat anyway. Like you, I've got at least 3 sensor bars knocking around the house that I've collected over the years.
Only thing to do, is decide whether to wait and see if a good Premium deal is likely to drop during Black Friday.

Been after a box fresh Wii U for a month or so now after realising that the 3DS version of Mario Maker is going to be a massive let down. Is the only fundamental difference between this and the Black one, the HDD space?
Looks like it comes down to the sensor bar ( I still have one from my Wii ) and a few stands (and space obviously). I can live with that personally. You can get one from here.

Not sure, this will be arriving for xmas, never seen one in the wild :-). Shame really, as you say they do seem to have a really strong catalogue of games. It might not have had much in the way of third party support but the games which were released are highly rated.

Yep, possibly. Although Wii U stock appears to be quite low, they already stopped production in Japan. See here.
They don't seem to be heavily discounting so it might be they don't actually have much stock left and are happy to let it go for full price.

Picked up a Wii U premium with mario kart from Asda for £199 a couple of days ago - red stickered so store specific so didn't post but may be worth a try if you were after a 32gb version - long shot though
