Fishmonger, thanks big fella for keeping us up to date with your thoughts on the matter
Had 2 of these fitted this afternoon at Leicester, Abbey Road branch. Booked in at 1.30pm, back on the road by 2.00pm. Staff were chipper and polite. Didn't try to sell me anything else or tell me there were problems with my car that needed fixing.

Wouldn't you require winter tyres all year round in Scotland? making these unsuitable?

You can always try blackcircle, they're based in Penicuik but have deals with garages nationwide.

I've replaced them for Dunlop Sport BluResponse at Halords good few months ago for around 50 each and to be honest i prefer Dunlop ones in dry condition. As for the wet condition they're pretty much the same.

Wear rate will be higher if they are good in the wet, good wet tyres are made of softer rubber.

These have good grip but as people have stated, the wear rate is an issue due to the softer compound. I personally have not found a better tyre than Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2/3 and have have tried many others including Pilot Sports etc.

Whether these tyres are suitable for you really depends on your requirements.
I was looking for something grippy, having been spooked by the lack of grip offered by the crappy tyres that were on my car when I bought it, I also only do 5,000 miles of very steady driving per year, so the wear rate isn't a massive issue and I was buying on a budget.
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2/3 are no doubt better tyres, but they're twice the money and unnecessary on my 90BHP runaround

Agree with the comments about wear rate. I got four of these last year and they haven't worn well. Grip is superb though.
I had to get two of them refitted as F1 hadn't scrapped the fitting compound from the old tyres away so tyres kept going down.

Comparing prices with blackcircles (who I find are usually cheapest), they are £6 - £8 cheaper on many brands.Hot deal.

Would never take my car back to f1 leicester auto (abbey lane) again, after i reserved 2 tyres online they said they didn't have the tyres in stock and the similar tyres they had in stock they refused to price match their own online price. After I agreed to these 2 tyres as I just wanted it all over and done with they then got the car up the ramp and said all 4 needed changing with wheel alignment/tracking and gave me an absurd price of 300 pounds plus tracking on my tyres! I was told the alignment was 60 pounds and that I would need this as there is no point getting brand new tyres without alignment. I really felt quite bullied by the price and the staff were very abrupt and quite rude. Not only did they note come down on the price but their service I found to be appalling. I took the car back and ended up at a competitor - Speedys tyres, they gave me the exact same tyres for almost a 100 pounds cheaper and their tracking/alignment was only 15 pounds. After changing my tyres Speedys said I didn't infact need the tracking after all and saved me a lot of grief.
I'd take my car anyone else other than F1 auto centre, only after the money there.

Have had a full set of these on my Audi A3 for the past year. Best tyres I've ever had - they just grip in all conditions.
The wear rate is higher as people say, but its not awful. The tyres are a soft compound for grip, but of course wears quicker. I rate safety higher than wear rate - I don't care if I have to replace the front tyres 24 months down the line. After 12 months I've worn down 3mm with 10,000 miles and that's a lot of cornering on the same road to work.
Just don't do doughnuts or fly round hard corners and they'll be fine.

used F1 for first time this week, they were cheapest for the tyres I wanted, ordered on line, got a call from customer services a couple of days befoew my appointment to say that the tyres were being shipped and they might not arrive on the day. but If I wanted they would book be in for the next day. tyres fitted in about half an hour no hard sell of extras. would happily consider again.
