5TB Canvio is still £109.99 at ebuyer, but BT shop seems sold out and Amazon is out of stock.
The reason is External drives of this size are been replaced by 4TB-5TB 2.5'' Portable USB 3.0 Hard disks, but crucially these 2.5'' drives use SMR (Shingle Magnetic Recording) slower 'shingle' recording, not suitable for NAS devices. As do most of the Seagate 4TB-5TB drives at this £110 price range. i.e unsuitable for NAS devices.
If you need 3.5'' Internal drive replacements for NAS devices, by removing these 5TB 7200rpm 128MB Cache hard disks from their enclosure, this could be the last chance to get hold of them at this price point.
Most 'internal' 5TB drives that are sold and useable in NAS devices (like Synology drives) are now £180 plus. 6TB drives (such as the WD Reds) are £220. £109.99 for 5TB 7200rpm 128MB Cache Internal drive (ripping it out of the enclosure) is about as cheap as they get now.
If you need replacement internal 5TB 3.5'' drives (that need to be in a raid) this seems the last chance to get them at anything close to £110.
