European maps no good after brexit.

I used to think standalone sat navs were obsolete but then my wife tried to use Google maps in rural Norfolk and the lake district and with the phone not being able to connect to GPRS it was useless. Got ourselves a tom tom with live traffic updates and for us its been a great investment not having to worry about whether we will have enough signal or having to remember to download the offline maps before a trip. Horses for courses and all that...

Lifetime maps is only for the lifetime of the Device cant exactly work out how long that is.

Anybody know if tom toms have an alternative route button/option

Google navigation works better as upto date automatically and free. No use buying tom tom now and soon it will be out of date with no traffic updates.

TomTom now only comes up with developments on commecial vehicle (lorries) sat navs only so no use buying for personal cars. I use waze or google maps on my old iphone and connect it via hotspot using my primary phone.

​But earlier Google maps were not very good and phones not powerful. Now with offline Google maps and fast 4g, it is a game changer.

Waze, can't understand why people buy a dedicated Sat nav these days.
Free, real time updates and dynamic routing.

plenty of free alternatives aviliable for phones and tablets e.g. google maps, here maps, waze. Not happy with tomtom myself my mother recently got a jeep renegade which has tomtom navigation built in but only came with 3 months map update support and then £60 a year for map updates, would actually be cheaper for me to buy this deal than pay for the updates.

​have to disagree when you install sat nav app like Here maps you can download the map straight away and then it's on your phone for good. The app also lets you know when map updates are aviliable and downloads them. With the tomtom you would need to plug it into your computer and download the tomtom software to check for updates.

I do run tomtom on my phone, works pretty good, I do have a tomtom 6" screen and it is far superior to a phone, both in volume and display. Horses for courses I guess.

I have one of these it's brill for me. Not complicated very intuitive and does the job. Heat from me this is a great price and you can also buy the case for it for £10 on a deal.

Have to agree with most on here, which is Tom tom is getting very out of date. I'm sure they'll go bust over the next decade. The only benefits I can see for this, is for people who don't have data on mobile phone contracts (my retired folks), and to prevent euro data charges on your mobile. For me, if I find myself driving abroad, I'll get a local sim with data and use Google or here maps.
