For what it's worth I went in to HMV in the Harvey in Harlow today and asked the matey there if he had any idea of the Black Friday deals and he spun it straight back on me asking why I was asking. So when I told him I had seen on here they was doing Titanfall for an apple, he then went off on some tangent about how HUKD has nothing to do with HMV.....erm shock horror, I never knew that :smirk:

He was your typical soapy Corbyn follower with some scratchy ginger beard and more piercings in his boat than that strange thing out of Hellraiser.

He was still mumbling on about "outrageous lies" to his skinny student sket assistant as I strolled off unable to hide my amusement at him. I actually want to go back in there on Friday and gob off "outrageous lies" at him if this tip turns out to be legit

How shocking that a Black Friday deal isn't available on the Monday before Black Friday.

I do believe the author of that article has indeed, gone full re-tard.

Its an outrage that the poster that says black Friday deal wasn't available when I went out in the rain to get my copy cheap... on a Monday... a Monday before black Friday...

the outrage...

im gonna write an article about this... and people will believe I am in the know and then share it with others so they don't fall for this fake poster...

oh hang on....

I don't know if this was an honest mistake or a sarcastic reply (hopefully the former!), but I went into HMV Stratford - the store you mentioned earlier in the thread - this morning (7th Dec) and they said it hasn't been in stock for XBox One and PS4 since Black Friday. Hopefully that saves someone else the trip...

They may have had empty boxes on the shelves, but they haven't had any copies of the actual game since then.

Don't I know it - already have the Special Edition on PC, free as I already had the original and all DLC. In fact, looking forward to delving back in tonight after taking a break to play through Dishonored and Titanfall

09:02am Bluewater HMV I bought a copy on XB1 and they only had one other copy left!

Dashed to JL as a mate wanted a copy (HMV were limiting to one per customer) and they had no XB1 stock (I did see a PS4 copy).

Finished the campaign, traded into Game (price match CEX) for £29 credit

It was similar in the Bromley branch; I was told by the cashier that they only got 6 copies on XB1 & 6 copies for PS4 which as you can imagine were sold out straight after the shop opened. If they are going to promote a price drop like this then its only common sense to stock up a good handful on each console!

I went down to the Stockport branch on Friday and queued up. I was about 5th in the queue only to be told there were no copies left. surely this is a breach of trading standards?

No worries, someone suggested it in a locked FS/FT Wanted thread, thought I'd help others out, since it worked for me.

EDIT: Exclusive quidco cashback ends in 6 hours...for anybody who's still interested.

Chasloyal
27 Nov 16 #275
I doubt they'd still have any after nearly three days of the promotion, but who knows unless someone on here is willing to confirm either way.

Like that's exactly why I stated there was still relatively substantial numbers in the Westfirld branch when I posted I'd got mine in Stratford Friday morning.

HMV Kettering, P*ed me right off... i rang early in the morning and asked if they had any and was told they had a few, so i asked the guy if he could put 1 aside for me he said sure, i go down and got to the till and the guy said oh we sold your copy after you put the phone down.... WTF HMV...

Titanfall 2 is fast paced, hectic and bloody good fun. Excellent variety of guns, attachmens and camos. Also, Titans add more depth to combat as they're not particularly easy to take down. Single player is also impressive with a surprisingly good story.

Battlefield 1 is war, pure war. It's utter carnage, slower paced than TF2, excellent single player and a good progression system in multiplayer. Good variety of weapons and a loads of vehicles to find on the Battlefield to add more depth. The graphics are superb, sound is top notch and the single player while short, it's brilliant.

Hope this helps :sunglasses:
Hulk83
26 Nov 16 #265

Considering the sales of this are lower than the single format release of it's predecessor, I think the online players may be a bit thin on the ground in the not too distant future. Give me a campaign in length like the rather excellent Doom over diminishing online players any day of the week.

For those that didn't manage to grab it at £19.99 even at £28 it's an absolutely fantastic game. Managed to grab PS4 version at Basingstoke HMV (last one though) and wasn't really expecting that much but it plays really well. Movement is fluid, maps are interesting and some good fun game modes. Great support for clan / friends playing together too.

I said to her that i thought i would be early enough and she told me they opened up early. dammit!! there were only xbox ones left. I aint ****, im just unucky. I was not convinced on titanfall 2 so thats why i thought £20 would be a great price for it. the first game price plummeted too

For £20 it really is a no-brainer. Worth it alone for what is a very very good single player campaign. Stop thinking about it, and just buy it. It's £20, and it's better than Doom.

Hope that helps.

23 Nov 16 #130
This is what Black Fridays all about the lure of a hard to get bargain, getting footfall in store. Way to go on the loss leader, if real probably one of the best Black Friday deals seen so far as it's actually a real saving over the best market price rather than the normal fake reduction. Let's hope HMV actually have some stock to back it up, way to go HMV if you really are getting in the spirit of Black Friday, having a real bargain on offer.

scotty_burto
22 Nov 16 #109
This is too good to be true!

Finest example of covert marketing! If it happens to be real they'll be 5 copies in each store! £25 (discount vs RRP not actual COS) x 5 x no more than 150 stores = £18750 much cheaper than any form of actual advertising. Even if u include the POS it's not gonna be much more than £20,000 and it's still not vs COS which would potentially half it depending on their distribution deal!
And that's if they actually honor the deal and it's not just a mock up idea the marketing department was working on and ultimately binned!

I played it but didn't think much of it, just plays like COD... the idea isn't new and there isn't much there to excite me.

Rainbow Six Siege feels fresh, Overwatch feels fresh, Battlefield One feels like a return to form after years of crap. Then there is the whole PC side of weird small indie online shooters to play around with and Counter Strike will never die and ARMA is always fun... plus UT is back on the Epic store.

Titanfall just is an unremarkable bland shooter.

then again, I just can't believe that a game released a few weeks ago that's clearly had that much time and money spent on developing it will sell for 20 or 25 pounds. why would the developer agree to that???
if not, then why would hmv agree to take a loss with each sale?? considering how they are doing financially I'm struggling to see how this can ve real

I'm no retail guru, but I suspect it's to give other retailers less time to react/price match. If this was confirmed, all anyone has to do is chop a further 50p off, which would inevitably be shared on here, and all of a sudden it's Game Over (pun intended).
