Three SIM Only ADVANCED plan includes 'Feel At Home' (free roaming in 42 destinations abroad), ability to create a Personal Hotspot (a.k.a. Tethering) and Free calls to Customer Services.

*UPDATE: alternatively @kris1234 was able to get 8GB on an ADVANCED plan with 600 minutes (and assumably unlimited texts) also for £10 per month*

This deal is based on previous HUD posts advertising Three's SIM Only 12 month ESSENTIAL Plan for £9 per month (total cost = £108) which may be found here:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/3-sim-4gb-data-unltd-mins-unltd-texts-9p-m-108-term-possible-quidco-2505078
and:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/unlimted-minutes-texts-4gb-4g-data-12-months-contract-from-3g-via-uswitch-9-month-2540875

A few HUD users (particularly on the 2nd link above) were commenting that they were able to get upgraded from the ESSENTIAL plan to the ADVANCED plan for an extra £1 per month (ie £10 per month total) if they were existing Three customers, usually achieved via live chat haggling.

I am not an existing customer so tried several times on live chat to see if they would offer new customers the £10 ADVANCED deal but to no avail, until finally one chat advisor suggested I started a 1 month contract and then tried to upgrade.

So I stopped by a Three store today to sign up for the cheapest 1 month contract I could find (which happened to be the ESSENTIAL plan with 500MB Data / 200 Minutes / All-You-Can-Eat Texts for £9 per month) and picked up a free sim card (and a free nano/micro/standard sim adapter...which was nice!).

When I got home I immediately went to live chat and politely asked to be upgraded from the £9/month ESSENTIAL plan to the £10/month ADVANCED to which the reply was 'No worries at all ' and told it will be ready to use from 5 days time.

I've checked in 'My 3' online and my price plan has been updated to:

4GB data.
All-you-can-eat minutes.
All-you-can-eat texts.

12 month contract.
Included:
4GB Personal Hotspot, Feel At Home

The same plan is normally £21 per month (total saving per year = £252 - £120 = £132)

Win!

Important notes:
1. The deal includes a £5 monthly discount for paying by direct debit so, obviously, if you aren't paying by direct debit then add £5 per month.
2. The ESSENTIAL plan deal (4GB for the price of 1GB) that this upgraded ADVANCED plan is based on expires tomorrow (10 Nov) night at midnight (see the countdown timer on the http://www.three.co.uk homepage). I don't know if that will affect the validity of this deal but I have expired the HUD deal at that time just in case.
3. I didn't bother trying for any further offers (eg Amazon refer-a-friend gift cards, Quidco, Topcashback etc) because all my dealings were direct (either face to face in store or via live chat) but if you want to give it a go then by all means see the links (and the deal comments) at the top of this post.

I presume this isn't going to last until new year as the packages are labeled as Christmas? Was gonna stick with the rolling month 4gb for 11 until Jan or Feb then try and get a 12 month deal for both of us, but might be a better idea to just try and grab this now, unless they'll have something in new year.

Thanks for the motivation @Newbold, however, I think I CBA anymore! Quite happy with the value I'm getting for£10/mth, but if you guys get it for £7.50/mth hat's off to you :sunglasses:

Keep trying. They can and will do it at £10 pm with £30 back if you insist there's no other deal you're interested in.

23 Nov 16 #244
Just to second @brynhh I also had a bash at getting 3 months free and they were adamant they couldn't as already discounted.

Also, from 'Exclusive customer offers' in the Three App, anyone who didn't get an unlimited (all you can eat) minutes package might be interested in this:

'If you also want 2000 free Three to Three minutes a month added to your original phone or SIM plan simply call us on 333'

(Apparently these are automatically added to new phone or SIM plans)

Woman earlier offered totally different to yesterday so asked for my PAC, got put through to 2nd stage cancellations. He offered 1GB, 600m, rolling month (my current plan), £8 or 4GB, ultd mins, 12 month, £10, both advanced, no 3 months free. Was adamant they can't do the 3 month thing on a discounted package and the guy yesterday was wrong. So not too bad really, matches the plusnet prices.

He said he could do it for both me and my wifes contracts, but when he called back (to speak to her) he said he can't for her, so I've just gone on the rolling one for 11 quid for now, will see what 12 month stuff they can do in Jan.

22 Nov 16 #242
Took a couple of calls and a little perseverance on the second call until the guy I was talking to offered it. I was paying £11 for 4GB data + unlimited calls/texts, and out of contract, so the downside is another 12 month contract, which doesn't bother me because I'm happy with the price.

This is the plan: http://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/SIM-size-select?intid=3store_hp_christmas1_SIM_P3&step=confirmplan&planid=1220491046812&

It's £20pm from the website, but they offered it at £10pm - seemed a decent enough deal for my purposes.
brynhh
21 Nov 16 #241
Can I ask how you got that? I'm on 1GB, 600 mins, advanced, but since plusnets prices came out I called 333 cancel option and they offered 4GB, unlimited with 30 credit for £10, but essential plan. So same as plusnet but credit instead of tethering. Wouldn't offer anything for cheaper, like my current one for 7.50 ish.

In reality it's likely to affect ALL Three customers - expect an endless succession of scam TalkTalk-style calls from overseas, quoting all your details, including name, address, account number and DOB, trying to to get money out of you or access to your PC.

Call blockers work very well here, though..........these calls never get through now.

It's possibly only for existing customers - it enabled me to get the price of mine down to an effective £7.50 pm. Having said that, though, I see no reason why it shouldn't be possible to do exactly the same thing as a new customer - it's just a matter of asking, and if they've got the authority to do it, they will.
mmurdoch
15 Nov 16 #230
Ah right
And how do new customers get this or is it for existing customers
Newbold
15 Nov 16 1 #229
I take your point entirely, but the £10 pm deal (it's £20 pm online) is only available from a Three rep either via chat or over the phone. They're able to discount the £20 pm down to £10 pm - but no Quidco, of course.
mmurdoch
15 Nov 16 #228
Pardon my stupidness but that don't make sense, its £20 per month for that deal. £20 x 9 =£180 per year, which is £15 per month.
Even if you consider lets say £50 quidco in to it, it would be £20 x 9 = £180 - £50 = £130 / 12 = £10.84
Or am I missing something, Its been a long day
andy_sym
15 Nov 16 #227
See my post above?
£22 x 9 months (not 12) = £198 - £50 Quidco = £148 for the year / 12 month contract = £12.33 per month.

After 12 months I can see me moving if I don't get anything like this for the same cash.
Newbold
15 Nov 16 #226
Good point, but the £50 cashback doesn't go anywhere near reaching the extra £10 pm you'd have to pay for this as a new customer going via Quidco. And the continuation rate would of course be £20 too - rather than £10.
andy_sym
15 Nov 16 1 #225
If you are a new customer they are giving 3 months back at month 4 via their standard sim only deals page then if you can get Quidco at £50 too then you can almost match these deals customer services are giving people.

12 month contract, but £30 back after month 3, so a net payment of £7.50 pm.

Thanks for the advice i must have tried 15 times now and they just arent offering me anything remotely like this deal. Maybe its because im already paying £15 per month they are not interested in offering me a deal to pay less per month. Can i ask what deal you was on before?
pablomalin
15 Nov 16 #218
Somehow, they seem to be making notes of my calls and what I was offered before. They know straight away that they were giving me 8GB for £13 and every time I ask again they insist thats the only option for me. What else I can do, apart from signing contract as new customer which I don't really want?

On three live chat, say you want to move to the 30gb plan and don't need many minutes.
They should offer you this £11 plan.
However, I was on the £9 essential plan and then moved to the advanced £11 plan.
So you may need to be on the essential plan to request this deal.
Good luck.

Well I have gone for the following deal as they are now doing 3 months free on their web site direct and there is £50 Quidco meaning it will cost me £22 x 9 = £198 - £50 Quidco = £148 for the year / 12 month contract = £12.33 per month.

Advanced sim only. 30GB Data.200 Minutes. All-You-Can-Eat Texts.12 month Contract. £22.00
a month.

I can't see there being a better deal on Black Friday than that and suspect the £50 from Quidco won't be around then.

New customer should get effectively 4GB/600mins for £7.08 or 8GB/600 mins for £9.3, or 12GB/200mins for £10.1 or £30GB/200mins for £12.3 if used refer a friend (Amazon gift cards).

So 4gb for 10 a month doesn't look too attractive..

I just managed to get the advance plan 4GB+unlimited min+unlimited text for £10 on 12 month contract about 2h ago after 3 phone calls from yesterday morning and 4 chats...I insisted for 8GB data but there was not much to do so I accepted the deal. Since April this year I was on £15 30 days contract for the same package (advance) so I'm happy with it. I have been with 3 since end 2011 between phone contract and only sim 30 days. The £9 essentials sim came through today, went straight to the chat link as above and asked about changing to the advanced plan. Came back with 4GB, Unltd Texts, Unltd Calls for £12, I asked for other deals and he came back with the 8GB, 600 mins and Unltd Texts for £10 as others have got. Just to confirm, I did some more research today, this offer is only available if:

1. You are currently on the essential plan
2. You are an advance plan customer who is eligible for a free upgrade (be with three for 12 months)

I have been with three for 11 months, and i'm ineligible for an upgrade with no upgrade fee

I told them I would like to be downgraded to the essential plan then so that I can get a better advance plan offer. They told me that's not possible.

I told them I want to be seen as a leaving customer then, so they can offer me a retention deal, they told me if they offer me a retention deal, I would still have to pay the upgrade fee.

So basically, my plan is to wait until next month and take advantage of their advance offer then.

This Deal is still active!
Live chat last night offered the 4GB AYCE mins, £12 I refused.
Today offered 8GB and 600 mins for £10. Accepted.
Was on 4GB essential plan for £9.
Accepted 15 minutes ago.

Particularly unconvincing when they told me something completely different ten minutes ago.
Newbold
11 Nov 16 #157
The line they're taking now is that this deal was an error and will be withdrawn from accounts:

"The deal with 8GB data actually costs £19 and the customers who were given it will be corrected."

"This deal never existed and it was added to some accounts in error. We are already contacting those customers."

Sounds an unconvincing story to me!

I phoned just now and got the 8GB with 600mins deal for myself and the girlfriend. The 4GB with unlimited calls was offered at £12. He did say it was account specific but that both of mine were eligible.
If people are still after the 8GB deal it could well still be available.

My live chat operator asked that I write on here that the 8GB deal isn't with them. The only way I got my deal was to tell them that I introduced work to 3 so I could take them away and got my deal. Hard work for £3 saving a month, but I am at work so not that much hardship!!!

As expected called Three this morning and a far better offer, currently on £9 per month for 4Gb & unlimited txt's & minutes and wanted to upgrade to the 8Gb plan, chats best offer was £19 and an early termination fee of £39. Calling customer services and they offered 12Gb & unlimited txt's & 600minutes for £10 and no early termination fee, managed to get both my £9 plans upgraded.

Yeah I was told a third party got the wrong info in the 8gb one. Also they are doing something for Black Friday as when calling u can press one and they will remind you on the day , either morning or afternoon , u can decide when. Might be worth waiting for!

I was told the 8GB deal was only via a 3rd party with different T&Cs. But with a bit of gently prodding got the original 4GB, unlimited mins and texts for £10. He then also gave me the same deal for my wife and son. Not quite as good as the 8GB deal for me, but still cheaper and better than we were each on before, so happy with that.

I signed up to 2x £9pm essential plan 4GB, AYCE minutes and AYCE texts on the first days of September.

I just tried Live Chat - http://www.three.co.uk/Contact-us/i
Wasn't available the first time.
Tried again in a minute, I was 6th in the queue....got through without much of a wait.
Chatted to "Jaan" ( if that helps anyone - maybe mention that name to your chat advisor )

Mentioned that I'd like to upgrade to an Advanced plan.
Got offered the £10pm Advanced 8GB data, 600 minutes, AYCE text plan or the Advanced 30GB data plan.
Took the £10pm Advanced 8GB data plan.
Mentioned that I had another contract on the essential plan and they upgrade that one too, to the 8GB, 600 minute, AYCE text Advanced plan.
Both of my 2 month old, £9pm 4GB Essential plans have been upgraded to the £10pm 8GB Advanced plan. :sunglasses:
The allowances won't start until my next bill date/allowance refreshes
Plus this doesn't extend my original 12 month contract either. which will still end in September 2017.

Definitely try it via Live chat!! Good Luck!!

I was on a monthly contract and was offered ADVANCED PLAN (All advanced plans give HOTSPOT and FEEL AT HOME)
£10pm - 4GB data, AYCE mins, AYCE texts. You can add on 4GB data at anytime for £5.

Better deal than I was on but they seem to be very inconsistent with their offers.

Do three allow mid contract upgrades? I'm part way though my contract on 2gb data. Would love to be able to upgrade.

All I've been offered on the chat was 8gb monthly rolling for 13 and said no, I'm on 4gb for 11 and been for the last 11 months
SilverBandit
10 Nov 16 1 #36
:disappointed: Best I could get was 8GB, 600min, unlimited texts for £13 per month. Still a better deal than my current plan so I took it.

10 Nov 16 #34
just finished a chat with Three and they would let me change to the 8gb plan but needed to pay an early upgrade fee of £75. I only renewed with them last month on the 4gb advanced plan at £9pm. It would be cheaper to buy a data add on as and when i need it.

10 Nov 16 #30
Hi all. Can anyone confirm whether they took out a new essential 12 month sim only @ £9 and then upgraded to advanced 8gb @ £10?

Or, can you only opt for a 30 day deal and then upgrade to advanced from there? I mean its not like they're under any obligation to upgrade you if you've just taken out a new 12 month contract?

I'd like to get the cashback for a 12 monther and then upgrade to 8gb, if that's possible. I guess if it doesn't work I can cancel within 14 days but that seems like alot of hassle.

10 Nov 16 2 #33
I'm 2 months into my 12 month contract with Three on the essential plan. They advised it was a change of plan rather than an upgrade, so your existing contract duration still applies/is unchanged.

Just tried this on live chat, been on the £9 unltd mins, txts, 4GB data essentials plan for 2 months now. Was initially offered feel at home and hotspot as an addition to my existing plan for an extra £3 per month (so £12), but asked to check again regarding the £10 Advanced plan. Came back with an offer of 600 mins, unltd texts, 8GB data and the Advanced benefits. My plan will be updated and changed over by 19th Nov. Thanks to OP/other posters who have let us know this is possible!

i tried this at 8am today

bought the £9 essentials from 3 online , 2 days ago which was unl calls, unl texts, 4gb

asked to upgrade and he said i needed to wait for the first bill to be generated before they can upgrade the price plan....

hmm......took him 36 mins to tell me this, wasted time lol

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but it's effectively an upgrade deal.
it's worth a shot if you already have the £9 a month contract, but it's still down to haggling a deal.

I've voted hot anyway, for those who can get it.

I couldn't refuse a deal like that

Got this deal when I rang them about 5 weeks ago to get some more data added to a legacy plan. Was offered it after rejecting one worse deal and then a wait while he checked with his "manager" and told me what a great customer I was ! Yeh right

so I buy the original deal for £9 now from original page and then ask for upgrade...does this have to be done before midnight tomorrow?

i have asked for upgrade to advanced plan for £10. He said I will check for you. Few seconds later he said he can change for advanced plan with 8GB internet and 600 min for £10. Could not believe really . So I have asked again about £10 a month. He said I will pay £10 for remaining time of my contract until September 2017. Happy days. App showing new plan already.

I was on the old £15 unlimited everything plan until they cancelled it. The first time I asked for it I was refused, rang back the next day and they told me 'no problem'.
All depends on who you get on the day.

I just joined three last week on the £9 plan with no tethering, but i suppose an extra quid for that amount of tethering is worth it so i'll give it a go .. although clicking through, I find live chat unavailable .. DOH!

Currently using this, Quidco tracked at £35 and you also get 3 months Deezer

Edit: I'm on the £9 plan but same applies from above.
