Not bad considering the standard edition is £45 on Amazon! I'm worried it will be total excrement though.
What is the extra thing that comes with it? An art book?

Makes me think they are struggling for the pre orders. Cracking deal though! As much as I enjoyed Ico I think I'll wait for some reviews.

Same here.
I really hope it is good and it is the team that done Ico and SotC but I'm not very optimistic after seeing any gameplay shown so far.
Part of the problem looks like it's made for a previous generation, which it actually was originally. I'm not even just meaning the graphics but it looked like it could be quite a cumbersome, clunky game that belongs on previous gen but maybe not current.
Still, I'm hoping it'll be good and trying to be optimistic.
(Although this close to release some more info from them on the specifics of the collector's edition would be nice! Still haven't even said how big it'll be, it could show up and be 3" or it could be a 12" statue. Don't think they've even confirmed if it'll be a nice(ish) material or just cheap plastic.)

Do you still get the "Exclusive Mini Soundtrack" if you order the launch edition bundle with the faceplate?
The product description for the launch edition without a faceplate is the only place that mentions an included soundtrack.

Quality deal, cheers op.
I'm optimistic for this game, as for games with multiple delays(not nine years, I know)it didn't hurt tlou or uc4.
As for exclusives in general, both Sony and Microsoft have been pretty poor this gen.

But does anyone else refuse to preorder games now? I feel like if I preorder I am usually punished financially and the guy who didn't preorder ejds up getting the bonuses I got and paying a lower price.

unless it's at a really good price or the pre-order bonus is pretty sweet, i don't bother anymore.

11 Nov 161#24
The culture is getting out of hand with bonuses becoming greater like early access for more money (looking at you Battlefield 1). Games seem to fall in price faster than ever now and it certainly has little benefit to preorder anymore. I'm close to waiting for everything. I preordered Battlefield 1 and now feel bad I didn't support Titanfall 2 instead (I have no time to play both ATM so decided to leave one for a while and I think I left the wrong one :disappointed:). There's also the issue of developers holding review copies too so that the preorer mugs will buy it before they know how bad it is (Mafia 3).
Then there's the Modern Warfare remaster that they bundled with the latest Call of Duty. Activision knew what they were at and I know a few people who paid £70 just for a remake of a 9 year old game! As long as people continue to buy into it will only get worse.

This game and Shenmue will be disappointments just like No Mans Sky and the Order 1886 and Driveclub and most PSVR games. Skny exclusives are plenty but also rarely worth it. Bloodborne being the exception buy not a first party developer.
schnide to SDLiam
11 Nov 161#33
Bloodborne was jointly developed by Japan Studio. Although how strange of you to single all out these Sony games!

Consumers should shoulder half of the blame, due to the hype train they run from a single image, video or comment from the producers. And when it gets released, and that image, video or promised feature isn't in the game, they launch an attack on the company's Twitter.
I miss the old days.
SDLiam to crackdealer635
11 Nov 16#31
No they shouldn't. How about Team ICO deliver to schedule for once or only reveal when they have a launch date and game near completion to launch instead of 5 pictures.
slannmage
11 Nov 162#30
Or get it for £20 a month after launch when it flops because all the preview coverage of it so far has said it's bad.

I like how even Ueda acknowledges that Ico and Sotc could be considered as pretty barebones games, when looked at firat glance or when compared to other games. (Loved those games, just to be clear)
But he likes to find a strong element an design his game on that. Really hope this over hype doesn't hurt the game. From the gameplay we've already seen the mechanics are somewhat similar to the previous games, no reason for some people to create false expectations.

11 Nov 161#34
I salute your well-reasoned and eloquent argument.
Personally, I'm looking forward to it (having loved ICO to bits).

11 Nov 16#35
Just saying, that article did nothing to reassure me. Took a few hundred words just to say essentially that 'it looks pretty good but the controls are terribly clunky, maybe it's intentional? I don't really know, only played it for an hour...'. We've been burned too many times recently. A healthy level of skepticism with hype dialled right down is the only way to avoid massive disappointment. The only way is up from there. If a game then turns out to be good, you'll be anything from pleasantly surprised to delighted. If it turns out the way you'd expected (rubbish) then you won't feel like the developer has put a turd through your letterbox and drop-kicked your nan!

11 Nov 16#36
I singled them out because they have all been hyped and dissapointed customers. Microsoft and Nintendo have been delivering but Sony has not.

be burned too many times with PlayStation exclusives going to wait on the reviews for this, only one that lived upto the hype are bloodborne and uncharted 4
to be honest i never rated the other games by the developer

Bit objective, reckon Microsoft and Sony are equal in what they've provided strictly 1st party wise this gen.
I say strictly 1st party since I wouldn't consider No Man's Sky a product of Sony, if any thing they should be praised for how well they marketed a game like that, was all down to Sean Murray himself for dodging questions and selling dreams.
Can agree with Nintendo providing more than the two.

This game looks meh tbh. I actually played both Ico and SOTC and have to say Ico is a pile of poo and an overrated 3 hour escort mission. SOTC was pretty mindblowing though fighting massive and mysterious creatures. Sadly The last guardian looks like the sequel to Ico rather than SOTC so I won't bother buying and instead watch the whole game on YouTube.

Ico has to be one of my all time favourite games. I played it on PS2 and then again on PS3. Escorting Yorda was a novel idea to me and the game had such a beautiful ending. I for one can't wait for this game to finally be released.

Am I the only person who finds it ironic a game seemingly made for an older generation of console comes with a face plate for a now older version of the PS4?
At least its outdatedness is fairly uniform.
schnide
12 Nov 161#41
Yet you conveniently forget Uncharted 4 just to name one, and I could quite easily pull out any number of disappointing first party games from Microsoft. And far as Nintendo go, their first party almost always delivers every time.. but it's just a shame they're the only ones who do on their latest console which was otherwise an utter failure.
So looking at it objectively, your statement is, actually, nonsense.

Uncharted 4, sorry did actually forget that. My statement stands though, Sony is the worst at delivering than all others.

Just your opinion, ps exclusives interest me far more than Microsoft and always have, just personal preference (naughty dog and quantic dream as main examples). The quality of each game is fully subjective though.
Nintendo is not comparible in my opinion as exclusives is literally the only good thing they have.
Shenmue needs to be good, but gaming has moved on so much since the last one, will be tough to make that same impact but I really hope they do it!

This looks like a game that will drop to about 20 quid fairly quickly, in no rush to buy it, can't blame people for being weary about games being released with issues either, it's very common these days, which is why I have completely stopped buying any games until they're at least a few months old so I can watch reviews on them and they've had time to be patched.
SDLiam
12 Nov 16#52
Fair shout, naughty dog are genuinely brilliant and I think Sony would be in a bad position without them. I backed shenmue but agree that it will most likely dissapoint.what was ground-breaking then is normal now.

Half way through and actually quiet enjoying it, it still needs some polish, controls and camera still really ropey especially in tight corridors when just end up with a black screen, frustrating when you know what you have to do and your pet beast looks and listens and then cant be bothered. Sometimes i feel the most important thing is where you stand not what commands you give!
