Ruined by the Americans (Kraft) who shut down the factory in York, with the loss of hundreds of jobs. Moved production to Poland and changed (read cheapened) the recipe.
I don't remember anybody kicking up a great fuss then- so why wouldn't they repeat with Cadbury?
Two, 2 hundred year old British institutions ruined.

The costs of raw ingredients are increasing. It's simple, they either reduce the size and maintain the price, or maintain the size but raise the price.
As long as the consumer price index is positive the prices of products will always rise.
