Caveat; I'm not playing any games on this TV.
TV arrived today, and honestly, for the money, I cannot fault it. Fantastic for all my needs. Can stream my media (MKVs etc..) from my server using DLNA without issues via inbuilt wifi with no buffering (Router is Netgear R7000 with DDWRT). 720p and 1080p picture quality is outstanding imho, 4k flawless. SD TV looks fuzzy in comparison but perfectly watchable and I guess that's to be expected for such a large screen.
TV speakers are surprisingly good, plenty of volume for watching normal every day TV, but I will be on the lookout for a suitable soundbar with wireless sub to enjoy movies.
Everything works great nice and smooth except smart TV menu can take a while to load, but youtube netflix and DLNA works great.
Added bonus, it appears to have 2 USB ports on the back, the listing stated it only had a single USB port. Tried Amazon Firestick in both ports to power it whilst connected to HDMI and provides power without any issues.
Very pleased with this purchase, great price great picture quality, I just haven't tested it with a games console and unlikely I will, so this might not be for gamers...
It will get wall mounted eventually as it has good viewing angles (possibly IPS).

A tv this big would need a decent sound to go with it. An AV receiver with 5 HDMI would be ideal.
TV at the right price point and size for my needs.

Past HUKD comments would suggest that a hisense 65" will offer a better picture as they generally tend to manufacture their own screens. The Techwood is likely to be a Vestel from Turkey:
Bearing in mind the following link reviews a different model Techwood without 4K or DLNA support from last year, the comments about Vestel are still probably valid: http://www.trustedreviews.com/techwood-50ao1sb-review

dont hold me to it but ive seen on here and been told that this uses a Samsung panel, probably made in Turkey by Vestel, who tend to make a lot of the "own" brands and some of the more well known ones too ( Hitachi/Panasonic etc ), the few reviews i have seen mention the lack of HDR ( which seems to be preferred but not seen at this price point as yet ) - like i say, thats what i have gleaned form here and the few reviews ive seen, hopefully someone can clarify if im right or amend what ive said if wrong - im torn on this one, its such a huge panel for the cash but with Black Friday upon us... wellll, i just dont know whether to bite!
Chances are this will be using a low end Panel from either Innolux or AUO - It's possible it could be a Samsung but highly doubtful given its cost. Vestel do however use a Samsung Panel in a lot of their 55" 4K offerings. If you're after big on a budget keep a close eye on the Hisense HE65K5510 - that's regularly on offer, has been as low as £659 recently and it's a quality Television for the money.

22 Nov 16#37
Ive had a damn good look around, and at some reviews and a youtube review and ive bitten the bullet - only 2 HDMI can be remedied with a splitter for a tenner from fleabay - i looked at this compared to a 55" in Richersounds, its HUGE....ill report once it gets here and its set up

I am tempted but so far i have no idea of how it would be for gaming as i can't find any info about input lag and also the only 2 hdmi ports and no hdr is off putting although i am not sure how much difference HDR actually makes ?
MaddiesDaddy
22 Nov 16#40
There's no HDR on it I rang AO and checked, that means no 4K gaming through Xbox one
philjstephenson
22 Nov 16#41
the xbox never did proper native 4k, it was upscaling only, Scorpio will be able to do 4k & hdr natively
MaddiesDaddy
22 Nov 16#42
Well in order for the Xbox one to " upscale " the game to 4K it needs a tv with HDR so either way this is not what you want for Xbox one S

philjstephenson
23 Nov 16#44
for fear of offending, it really doesn't, it'll play 4k games without hdr - high dynamic range wont come into play... i've spent ages trying to get a straight answer and that seems to be it ,direct from Microsoft's mouth ( which is always to be trusted o course )
MaddiesDaddy
23 Nov 16#45
Yeah of course it will still play , but you aren't going to get the full effect so what would be the point in that ? If I'm gona buy a tv for my new Xbox one s I certainly want to make use of HDR if you've read up about you should know why .. in any case I'm out ..you wanna buy a non HDR tv for your HDR capable Xbox go ahead, for anyone else thinking about it for Xbox one s I'd suggest reading up too
Imho this is probably a great tv at the price but there's no way it will play HDR on your S so buy a HDR hisense or stick with what you got .

Hi dankerrysmum... the box with hopefully a to arrived at 9am this morning which I think is not bad considering I ordered the item at 3pm the previous day... unfortunately the only thing I can report on is that the box is bloody huge... haven't had time to unbox but after reading ur review I am reasonably confident... honestly... 539 pounds for a 65 inch tv... it would b rude not too... techwood btw are made by vestel in turkey who make TVs for pretty much the whole world be it budget brands or even rebadged mainstream brands...

I'v not messed with any settings like modes or colours but trust me it's good.. very clear picture, the bezel is like no more than 10mm around the screen and best of all u can hardly notice the techwood logo... 539 for a 65 inch tv is fantastically good.. it guaranteed for a year.. so yes.. pretty pleased..

Got it yesterday, all set up with Sky, PC etc - Pic is good ( streaming 4k from Youtube pic is very, very good ).
Easy to set up once everything is plugged in, this is a huge TV and quite heavy, dont make my mistake and think your standard unit will take this ( unless wall mounting ) cos i had to "modify" mine to get it to fit.
Remote is fast and easy to use, looks like a generic one. Has dedicated Netflix button so if you have that its perfect.
Messed with the pic and sound as it was a bit tinny out of the box, now fine as is pic.
2 HDMI was almost a deal breaker for me but a £6 HDMI splitter ( 1080 only , not 4K - they're about another fiver on top ) from eBay solved this, came with little remote so very easy to use.
Only niggle i have found is that some menu items constantly pop up ( like when viewing Sky it always comes up with some Dedicated HDMI gumph that i cant understand cos im Northern, probably ) and when you mute the sound the icon stays on the screen until you enable the volume again... strange.
Web browsing is a synch and fast too.
Pic quality on HD channels is great, however when playing HD content form my PC is a little glitchy and can stutter ( hoping thats my PC however i have a decent one so ill have to play with it a little more to optimise it )
All in all this is a great value TV, for its size and with 4K and the Smart functions ( which INCLUDE Freeview PLAY - that wasn't highlighted but it a very welcome plus point ) you just can't beat it. Add in the AO after-sales ( which i understand is pretty good ) and for £540 this is a steal....
Cheers OP, i appreciate your efforts very much, cheers AO for stellar service and cheers Techwood, this is a brill telly & many brownie points have been earn't!

Just something to be aware of:
- refresh rate 50hz (most tvs are 60hz)
- processor is dual core (smaller tvs in the same price range are quad core)
Fine if you use it to watch basic free view in conjunction with something like a now tv box. I wouldn't expect much from the app functionality.
Great tv for the price though.

I am running the sound through Samsung HW-K550 Wireless Soundbar via the optical cable as this TV has no ARC afaik, anyone else getting an annoying amount of sound delay with a soundbar? If I play both TV and sound bar together it has a really bad echo, and with the soundbar on it's own the actor's lips move first then the audio follows which is a bit frustrating.

Thought I'd missed out on these at the low price, they're back up to £599 on eBay again. However, found a discount code 50MEGA and used it on the AO website at the checkout (look carefully, it's a small link near the bottom left) and don't be fooled by the "that's all you need to do the any discounts have been subtracted" (or whatever it actually says ;-) ). You'll get £50 off it, not quite £539 but at £549 I was happy.
