Want it. Not sure why though, as my PC is probably going to be next to my TV :/

yeah same here. i just want it to play around with it, and be awed by the fact that it streams things.

If it's for sale in the UK and it's CE marked then it's compliant with the current revision of the British Standard. Doesn't matter what it is as long as it's not an illegal import it's compliant with the standard so you don't need to be adding on protection. The only time you would use protection is the other way round i.e. using a surge protector to protect your electronics from a surge from your local grid(that would trip the fuse, but only after damage is done).

Hot! My PC is in what is now the baby's bedroom, so I thought my days of playing were over. With this, I just need to leave it on and it's pretty quiet anyway - bonus, it keeps the baby warm!

Worth noting that the Steam Link machine is currently 60% off Through Steam themselves and is only £15.99 pre-delivery.
Thanks for that assurance. I was extrapolating, it seems from your assurance over-cautiously, from warnings like this one.

I have one of these and it works a charm 1080p 60 FPS using a wired connection. Love playing MGS V and FO 4 on a big screen. Heard it's not so good with AMD GPUs though... But if you have a decent CPU can do software encoding instead.

I think it really will depend on your wiring. Mine is good enough I connect my main PC to the router through them and I have no problems playing online games like CS:GO over them. As such for me the Steam Link works well, I can't imagine it being much better over a direct ethernet link.
However it's worth noting that the Link/Controller stuff is still all in the beta Steam client and as such there can (rarely) be problems so you need a little patience. For example I noticed the performance had gone to hell and I eventually realised it had reset my streaming settings to nVidia hardware acceleration when I have an AMD card. Once I switched it back it was fine again but it was a little annoying having that happen with no warning or explanation.
It can stream from whatever resolution I think but the output from the link will be 1080p.

I have a steam link and a shield tv, both work very well over my wired network but I'd say the shield tv does it noticeably better, but then it does cost more!

I wish I had bought the Shield TV when Amazon had them for £99, now they seem so short in supply - I hold out hope for Black Friday!
Love my Steam Link though (£27.99 from Game a few weeks ago TARDIS fans), keeps the missus off my back when I want some Rocket League action.
Also have the old Shield Portable kicking around, a much underappreciated device!

Can it do 4k resolution?

Great find. Bought one. Thanks OP.

Yes but if you've wired it you could probably do HDMI over ethernet and that's even better as there would be no transcoding or processing of the signal on your PC before streaming.

I'm a bit suspicious of that UK adaptor for the power supply. From that angle it looks as though it isn't fused. If so, I'd only plug it in through a fused extension lead (or fused multi-way adaptor).

I don't own one, so I'm not entirely sure, but I'd assume it's the same contents regardless of where you buy it.
It would be nice to get confirmation from somebody who has purchased one.

I have one and it comes with plugs for all the main regions.

It attaches straight to the power supply, it's just an adaptor for the brick, like your phone charger it's perfectly safe and doesn't require you sticking an extra fuse into the circuit with an adaptor.

How would this be with a homeplug setup?
Also the 27.50 would be the final total as amazon handle the import themselves correct?

I'm not sure about the homeplugs, but I've updated the OP with the final payment breakdown

I have a steam link and it works ok with home plug but you do notice more input lag. A lot better with wired. It's worth the effort to use a hard wire.

Check when you get it if customs have actually stopped it on the way in - if not (bought a load of things from Amazon.com and most never get huckled) then you can claim the import duty "deposit" back from Amazon - they are supposed to give you it automatically after 90 days IIRC, but you can just get in touch with them after delivery and they will do it quicker.
I imagine they will know if it has attracted the customs fee or not...
