I've got the Z2 and it's by far the best tablet I've ever used (or at least it was until my dad got the Z4). I believe this is broadly similar but for the form factor, so heat for this price.

I have the 32GB version, fantastic device, fast, superb screen, almost standard skin on the Marshmallow rom with little bloatware. Just a shame it won't officially be updated to Nougat.

There is a stable nougat rom available on the xda forums ( in z3 original android development section) but does require a degree of knowledge / faffing to install.

With the way Android OEM's never give the best hardware to tablets, you will never own a tablet then. I would love One Plus to release a tablet with the SD821 and there excellent, light, bloat free Oxygen OS. Can't see it happening though.

I guess you may notice some speed difference if you ran them besides each other but in every day use this is certainly not a slow tablet and plenty fast enough for most things/people. I've had for over a year and still works very fast.

I bought one for my mum for last Xmas and despite initial reservations about it/android she now uses it as much as her iPad. Nice and snappy.
Just wish Sony had given the Z4 tablet more love and hadn't saddled it with such an uncompetitive price. Currently it only seems to be available at PCW Business! If it had been £100 less I've have bought one by now, but I can't justify it when there's the Huawei M2 10.1 and Tab A 10.1 for half the price.
Probably be the last tablet Sony put out too.

Completely agree. I've been wanting to buy the Z4 for ages but the price is ridiculous (more than double this Z3!). I really want a feature-rich 10-inch tablet but only one or two out there with all these specs...

I actually found that when I moved from a nexus 7 to a nexus 9 I used it a lot less, the 7 was really portable and always handy, the 9 is very noticeable in the weight of my bag and won't fit in coat pockets. Saying that my phone is a Z5 Compact, if I had a 6" phone the 7" tablet would be pointless.

Yes, it is a great tablet, but it is also over 2 years old and now out of support. It was never expensive to start with, and therefore I would consider the price to be only ok, not great.
That being said, there are few alternatives on the market. Sony has discontinued the whole Z line for some reason, and the cheap Samsung tablets are no match for this one. The strongest alternative may be a used Z3 Compact LTE.

Just saw this and was about to post, but I see someone got there before me.
It really is an excellent tablet, and great value at this price, especially with Quidco, vouchers, etc (currently £220 on Amazon). Kind of a classic of this android generation, like the Z3 compact phone, in my opinion.
Great things I like about it are...
Front facing stereo speakers (excellent)
NC built in (with Sony headset, approx £20 on Amazon) which I find does a great job
Ps4 'playable'
Excellent Battery, especially if you use Stamina modes (after 18 months I have seen little deterioration)
FM radio, really good RDS. Maybe not used much on a tablet, but it's the usual top quality Sony radio with a strong signal (unlike most FM radios on devices)
Waterproof/ Dustproof
Very light and thin
Very good
