Firstly, welcome to HUKD.
However, it isn't a pre-order - the item has already been released. It is just Out of Stock, meaning no delivery until after Christmas

This is still a pre-order. Pre-ordering is simply ordering something before it is avaliable to purchase. This isn't avaliable to purchase on Amazon, at the moment.

do you mean VR in general (if so i disagree, I love my rift)
if you mean PSVR specifically, that is a shame, tho i have heard reports to the contrary. I was not expecting much for VR on a vanilla PS4, but everything i have heard have said its way better than (I) expected.

Crazy to order for after Christmas delivery.
Do you not think that in January other retailers won't be discounting their current prices also, most likely bettering this price?

Amazon don't take cash until they despatch so there's no harm in ordering and cancelling if you see a better offer. It is very easy to cancel an amazon order too

Pre-ordering in Consumer Electronics and Games refers to unreleased products. This has been released, and is therefore not considered a pre-order. Hence why Amazon don't offer their Pre-Order Price Guarantee with this. Because it isn't one :P

Maybe there is a demand for these as cex has put the price up to £380 when last week they were £350

Good price.
Given it's not recommended for anyone under the age of 12 I'd say waiting a week or two after xmas to not be price gouged on ebay isn't going to be a deal breaker. At worse a bribe of an extra game and you're still quids in.

Query - not recommended for under 12 - my dd wants one for xmas and shes 10, tried one already and it wasnt a problem. Any idea why the 12 age unless its because not enough games for them to play?

I bought one from cex last week for £350 and it was brand new! Simply amazing and one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. It's one of those things you can't explain and just have to try it for yourself.

I tried one at one of the official Sony launch tour event things a few weeks ago and was suitably impressed for the price. I think Game were offering trials but charging a nominal amount to avoid being swamped (£5 / £10?) which you got knocked off the price if you bought one.

16 Nov 16#40
No I think VR is the future of gaming and with my psvr the initial buzz was brilliant but this went pretty quickly when I started to be a bit more critical of it and amazement wore off to the point it was more of a hassle to get it set-up than it was worth so returned it. I would very much recommend people try it but it is very much (for me) one of those products that it is nice if a friend has it but maybe not one I need at home. Think in a couple of generations it will be incredible.

Very impressed with the Sony PVR. Bit of a pain to set up,but once up all is good.Try the Jap PS store for the Godzilla demo. The earphones supplied are not the best so looking for a headset to get the best possible sound experience too.
Comfortable to wear for extended periods unlike the competition.

I don't think it's bad in any way to be fair it's just the early adopters premium attached to it at a prime time of year. I really want one but am willing to wait till January February in the belief the price will drop maybe to £275 after xmas has gone

Price drop after Christmas? Not likely unless there is a surplus of stock, which, considering the hype and comparative price, seems unlikely. Maybe a bundle around easter but I wouldn't hold my breath.
As for the comparisons with the oculus rift, well, I guess it's a case of cost. Oculus with PC capable of running it = around £2000; PSVR with PS4,cam & controllers = around £650. For most people (particularly those who already own a PS4) it's a case of PSVR or no VR. For those who've shelled out for oculus or vive, it's a case of it *needing* to be better or they've wasted their money.
Personally, I would love to wait for a 2nd/3rd gen oculus or vive but I have a kid who feels like they've been waiting most of their life for these to come out. And I figure if I'm going to have to go with a 1st gen then I'm going the cheapest alternative - no point in wasting a *lot* of money on something that will be obsolete and laughably expensive in a couple of years.

All the VR headsets have the restriction. Apparently your vision hasn't fully developed before this time and VR headsets can mess it up.
Might be being over cautious but seems a lot to risk for a gimmicky toy imo.
