I have right now this second just got off the phone with the Plymonth Sony Centre branch and they say it's 10bit, but will not take advantage of full HDR due to less brightness, who do you believe? Also on avforums with a lot of informed people nobody knows 100%, people are begging to know on there.

Argos state that this is a 10 bit panel
Richersounds And sony customer care state this is a 8bit panel that can accept a 10bit signal

You see that's the thing, I'm not saying that is 100% 10bit panel, why? Because I have no concrete proof, the only evidence out there thus far is that rtings have tested the US equivalent of the TV and say that is has a 10bit panel.

then show me the stats that prove this is a 10 bit panel you contradict yourself saying it cant produce HDR premium yout argument is colours are rich?? This set will read HDR meta data and it has good colour but it doesn't have good local dimming or get bright enough to display HDR well

Right, just as I thought, you have nothing to bring to the table.

If you need a link that shows you this is not 10bit you obviously dont know what your looking at

So simple that you can provide me with a link that proves that can you?
I doubt it.

It cannot produce 10bitHDR its simple

Please tell me how you have come to this conclusion? I understand that the lower peak brightness doesn't allow it to reach HDR Premium standards but beyond that the US equivalent X800D reviewed by the much trusted rting.com had this to say "The X800D features a wide color gamut. It covers almost all of the P3 space, which is great. When watching HDR content, colors are rich."

Its 8 bit not ten if it was a 10 bit panel with them specs you would be asking for your money back as the specs on that panel cannot produce 10bit HdR

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't spot that at all. 99% of the time I order only if something is sold be or fulfilled by Amazon direct. I wasn't interested I'm buying so hadn't checked on this occasion. I agree, anyone who wants contact first; nope.

The TV won't be able to display white on black correctly. For example a moon on a black sky. You will see light leaking into the black sky.

One is silver, one is black... that's it. Same set otherwise. 8099 seems the name of the 8088 in other countries. In UK it's the 8088 (black). 8077 is silver. They are all 10-bit.
6 Year Warranty from Richer Sounds worth the the extra money.

Apparently it IS 10-bit, but the colour gamut isn't as wide as some 8-bits, so it doesn't necessarily count for very much. 8-bit with dithering is comparable anyway.
This is an IPS panel though, so be aware blacks won't be great, although you'll get better viewing angles.

Good luck with a price match at JL. They only sell KD49XD8099BU and do not accept it as the same tv.

It's currently £556.96 Inc. delivery at Amazon; one left in stock:
Beware, those prices are from 3rd party sellers with 0% feedback. Any seller that asks you to email them first in the description is a scam.

HDR without dimming features on the TV equals clouding and blooming.

Well to be fair it isn't, but it's still the best you're getting for the money so you can either wait until next year when TVs will all be true 10bit and there will be more OLEDs and Full Array backlighting... or you can buy now and get 8 + 2.

However it lacks Trluminous Colour this model in Argos has. I'm surprised the amazon deal hasn't been posted on HUKD yet.
