Think I might buy for old times sake though this is a huge missed opportunity if it doesn't include Sonic 3 as the picture suggests, it's wrong to play them separately, even in development they were made as the same game until quite late on....

The Sonic 3/S&K crossover "lock-on" thing only works on Xbox 360, you just have to have both installed. Doesn't work on One as I don't think games can see if others are there (or some far more technical sounding reason).

Sure I know I owned them back in the day, just saying they are intrinsically linked, Sonic 3 even plugged into the top of the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge for the complete experience....

Yeah, but we live in a time publishers try to sell games in as many parts as possible than in a single one.

Snapped this up when I saw it. Was wondering why the cross-cartridge thingy wasn't included in Sega Megadrive Ultimate Collection, and I saw this (just in case youse were wondering as well):
According to Ethan Einhorn, the producer for the collection, the three "lock-on" games (Knuckles in Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Blue Sphere) were not included citing "tight development times", and that including them would have meant "dropping several titles from the collection altogether", specifically the aforementioned nine unlockable games since "they all required unique emulation solutions".[3] via Wikipedia

Because if u didn't buy it any of the other hundred times it was released on every format, u probably have or want retropie or something similar...and if that's not the case then u probably aren't really into retro gaming as much as u thought. The purpose of a deals site is not to spend buying stuff u don't need or want just because it's cheap :laughing:

Why is 99p too much to pay for an excellent retro game? It's much cheaper than the usual price it sits at. Your own disliking of Sega shouldn't come into how you vote for this bargain. I don't like coffee but I'm not going to vote cold on any Coffee maker/espresso machine deals because I don't like coffee.

I'm fairly certain buying sonic 3 and this doesn't combine the two games for the Xbox One

I feel it is my duty to let people know that a new 2D Sonic game is in the works and it looks amazing. And its being made by a talented team, so it should live up to the originals. I've already pre-ordered the collectors edition from Amazon!Sonic Mania Trailer
