Was looking for a cheap phone, advisor was flabbergasted when he checked the price of the 1 Lumia 435 and it came up as £5
Should be nationwide but he reckoned stock levels would be low! Not a super phone but for £5 I can't really complain!

At £5 you're not buying into a thriving software ecosystem. If you want to run a few apps, check your email, browse the web, then buy this. If you want something which has a long future ahead of it, buy an iPhone 7.

I still have one left that's not charging before I boot it to eBay I might try it again. Must say never had any issues with android and csipsimple I rely on having a soft phone number with rotating 7 phones. Also the music player was very flaky but for a fiver spent and 43 webuyfor voucher back no big loss just hope that bill gates fiver obliges the 550

That's weird. Maybe 'battery saver' is on (this stops push notifications)? Maybe the app is set to not run in the background under 'battery saver'?
I own a Lumia 1020 for over 3 years now (I like photography and to me, the camera is still the best you can get on a phone) and have all apps that use push notifications working fine - Whatsapp, Skype, Outlook, Facebook, etc.

I got it wrong apparently you have to use push notifications to get zoiper to receive calls. Why should I jump through hoops when I traded in both for an m4 aqua on android which was a doddle to set up
pengwyn
10 Nov 16#112
If it can't receive sip calls from zoiper without the app being running then it's lacking something. The app itself stated that it doesn't have push notifications. I have had the 435 and know this as fact. Maybe the 435 being low end isn't a typical wm. Have you owned any wm phone or are you guessing?

"For a start" haha. Give it a rest man, I can reply to ANY comment I want.
You STILL don't seem to grasp this. I'll try one more time. Read this one through a couple of times. See if you can get your tiny brain to understand this: There is this thing (you may need to look this up for reference) called diversity. This means that whilst one person likes one particular thing (in this case a mobile phone) another different person can like a different thing. That's what humans do. Now, person A is no different to person B. They just have different tastes. If they think the iPhone is the best phone on the planet then they are not wrong. Because that is the best one for them. Now person A choses not to be a pleb to person B because of their choice. That's how it should work.
So feel free to investigate the mind blowing concept of individuality. It seems to have passed you by. Go and enjoy your phone. Let others enjoy theirs. It's really not that difficult.

There are many other phones, he can't list all of them and decided to use the iPhone as example.
This site is about finding the best deal for a specific product, not the cheapest price among a range of products.
There are android phones similarly priced to iPhone, but it all comes down to personal preference.
My iPhone cost me £23 pm and is cheaper then most top of the range android phones, however this means it's the best iPhone deal. I can't say it's the best mobile deal as it depends on what phone you prefer.

My older son gave him his old Sony Xperia phone (smaller than my Sony Xperia Z1) and he was only using it to play games (he's only 9). There were several games downloaded, however, the phone won't start up properly anymore (googled it and it is a common fault with this model). I don't want to pay to have it fixed as it wouldn't be worth it. He does have a Nintendo DS Lite to play some games on, but he used to like playing the other games on the Sony phone. I just wanted something cheap that is capable of playing a couple of games - I'll ask my older son if he can remember what he downloaded and then get back to you. Thank you.

He could have used an Android phone instead (and not got this response because; fanboys). He didn't even suggest that iphone is the cheapest/best. If he likes recent, popular games you would be better off looking for a cheap android phone.
Afraid he won't get pokemon on this, checked on mine and pokemon go is not in the store. There are plenty of games and apps available but not all main ones and not usually the newer, popular games. If he's not fussy then probably ok to get to use for phone, internet, camera, email, etc and there are plenty of games on it like some of the angry birds apps if just wants some to play occasionally while out and about. I guess ok if he had another device at home like a tablet to play others on normally, but if intending to be used as main device there probably won't be enough variety of games for him and the screen is not very big.
If you want me to do a search in the store for any other games to see if compatible I would be happy to, just reply with list and I'll let you know.

Ok its not the highest spec but it has plenty of features and is easy to use. I use it as a sat nav mostly now. If I didn't like all my games and apps so much I would happily use it all the time.

Set X exists such that it is everything an iPhone can do.
Set Y exists such that it is everything a £150 phone could do.
X∩Y would therefore be large, however X∩Y ≠ X. Within this context, this implies that Y is larger than X, but not such that X⊂Y.

Sure, buy the iPhone 7 if you want something for the 'future'. But nonetheless, the masses will be camping outside their stores in hopes of getting it on release day.

I'm not able to compare dozens of phones, but I got this a couple of years ago on a carphone warehouse payg upgrade thingy, and my battery lasts all day if I don't use the internet or leave wifi on. Even if I use it for a few hours tethering it doesn't drop below half.
I originally kept it without a sim card to play a couple of basic games and use wifi internet in an emergency if my laptop crashed, and I only had to charge it once a week.............. I realise most people will do all sorts of stuff which drains the battery quicker, but thought I'd mention that it depends how it's used.

If you want me to do a search in the store for any other games to see if compatible I would be happy to, just reply with list and I'll let you know.
He wasn't comparing this to an iPhone, in fact he was saying it was a very good deal.
Someone else complained how the software is going to be outdated and he merely said if you want a phone that is going to have loads of updates then go for a more expensive phone and as an example he said an iPhone.
Set Y exists such that it is everything a £150 phone could do.
X∩Y would therefore be large, however X∩Y ≠ X. Within this context, this implies that Y is larger than X, but not such that X⊂Y.

How can the £150 phone do almost everything an iPhone can do and a whole lot more at the same time? Either it cannot do everything or it can do more than.
With compliments, Tim Cook.
If this were a post about another latest model phone it would be completely different but why would you even think about comparing an iphone 7 to an old phone that costs £5 brand new ?
I would still be happy with my Nokia N95 if my mum didnt run it over with her car.
btw, have apple released those airpods yet ?
The Phone isn't bad (could be better mind?), but 1 for only £5?, NICE! (the one I formally bought it for, let's just say you can now potentially buy up to 10 of them/these now?), lol. :-)
For a fiver it's fine, simple. :-)
He is not! Read the damn comment in full.
Devro made a valid point DEFENDING the purchase of this phone, iSheep are one thing but idiots that jump on the let's hate apple bandwagon when someone posts a comment even mentioning an iPhone really **** me off.
LETS CHASE IT!!!!
I originally kept it without a sim card to play a couple of basic games and use wifi internet in an emergency if my laptop crashed, and I only had to charge it once a week.............. I realise most people will do all sorts of stuff which drains the battery quicker, but thought I'd mention that it depends how it's used.
Yeah a long future like till the iPhone 7 + or 7s comes out.
it's a case of horses for courses.
I know I for one can run all the apps I need on a 435, just not a fan of the windows phones, I phones too expensive and I'm more than happy with an android for around £150, which has done it's job for this last year and most likely next year also
