I should imagine that the battery would be large and would come with a replacement back cover with a bump. The battery on the G3 was never good due to the screen resolution but I chose to buy a spare rather than have the unsightly bumpy back cover but if you want decent battery life for this phone then this is it.

I can't get the link to work but just search 7500 extended battery for lg g3 + black cover and it's £12.80 all in.

I purchased a G3 off EBay, sent it back as I couldn't get 3g to work on 3. Must have been an import.

There were lots of moody ones on eBay, the sellers were taking cheaper Far East models and faking the model in the firmware so they looked like European models. Apart from the fact that they weren't compatible they would brick themselves if you updated the firmware as the process would put the actual European firmware on which is incompatible. Lucky you sent it back when you did.

Sorely tempted with this, loved my G2 (before if failed). Only concern is; this phone is 2 1/2 years old so how old is the refurb unit going to be?...

had one for two years, and had a love/hate relationship with it. was brill for the first year but got more annoying as time went on. the battery life was the biggest bug bear, then more recently overheating issues. still good at this price but for similar money you could get the huawei p9lite which will be more future proof and less likely to p you off!

I've had a G3 for 2 years almost and I hated it from day one. It had to go back for repair under warranty and since it's been much better! For the price you get a lot of phone. Just bought one for my daughter for xmas

I wanted to buy LG G4 from Argos £250 but when I made my deicision it was already out of stock...Now, Im considering Moto G4 as well as the price seems ok but the phone has worse reviews than the LG...I was also considering Xperia XA Ultra but it seems really big....The other option is Moto X...I have no idea which one is the best choice and the prices are very competitive.... Any recommendations?

Was going to get Moto G4 for my son for Xmas, but the Huwaei P9 Lite is similar price and has much better reviews and feedback. Looks like it will run the likes of Pokemon Go better.
Anyone else think this is a good move?

Great phone but both my girlfriend and I had problems with it overheating. In the end they both died within a week of each other after around 18 months of normal use - so at least they're consistent! Took them to a shop to repair them and the guy said it was a common problem with the LG G3.

A good mid range device still, flagship of 2014 and a good phone in 2015, but now, nothing more than average
I had an LG G3 for 2 years and upgraded to a Xiaomi mi5 last week
The processing on the G3 is pretty good but the 820 in the mi5 is lightning fast
G3 can get quite clunky and laggy with high usage but the mi5 has no problems due to the extra 1GB of RAM
G3 overheats like mad, like literally too hot to hold sometimes/when charging
several software bugs occured in my G3 e.g. spotify auto pausing, shutting itself down, heavy static in audio, etc..
The resolution is fantastic, amazing screen, but it eats battery, so my g3 lasts for 3-4 hours of usage max.
Even a replacement battery from LG (official) did very little
It's essentially a 2 year old phone with a rlly nice screen wacked onto it, its good for the money but I wouldnt advise it as a flagship/high end device
I also wouldnt recommend it for gaming as it gets extremely hot, lags considerably sometimes and games just make the battery drop in minutes
Personally I would advise people to spend an extra 30 quid on perhaps a Mi Max or 70 quid on a Mi5
For a EU based phone this is good value for money, but it certainly is not a top end device anymore, almost obsolete for a phone junkie like me
Good for a 2ndary device, for a kid or light usage, however I will be selling my g3 on, it belongs in 2014-15 imho

Ive had an LG G3 as a secondary phone for about a year (typing on it now) and its great for a secondary phone as the resolution is good and it's nice to hold. However, with a 6s plus being my main phone, this feels very laggy in comparison. Once you start trying to multitask it'll feel a bit clunky.
I've paired it with a 32GB EE data sim and its great for multimedia uses like streaming football that isn't possible on the iPhone.

Which one ticks the most boxes for you, depends what you want out a phone, camera? screen? size? dual sim? and so on, watch lots of reviews on youtube. I got fed up waiting for a Xiaomi to get shipped from china cancelled it and bought a p9 lite, good phone for the money.

I recommend the Mi5, ok camera in low light but in normal/good light it is honestly world class
Dont be put off by 4MP front camera either, it has an f2.0 aperture so crisper photos that most phones (usually 1.2f)
Alternatively, the LG G5 has a cracking camera and although it isn't under 200, it's affordable
This phone rlly doesnt have a great camera, I found it to be very grainy
I got my Mi5 in 6 days from eglobalcentral, you just need to know where to buy from, not aliexpress or gearbest
I would recommend none of them as EU phones are a ripoff, but if you must choose outta that lot, the g3
The 801 has overheating issues, we all know, but its still a pretty decent processor
2GB RAM is average and for most tasks it does the job, just make sure to not have 20 windows open at once
LG software is quite heavy, I liked it but some prefer skeleton OS like Oxygen from OnePlus
However it has cool features like dual window mode, selfie gestures, LG health and quick tips, its nifty
Phones such as G4 have inferior graphics, worse processors and the same RAM, plus this has a 2k screen
Almost all other phones at this price are stuck on 1080, even high end devices are mostly 1080
Out of the phones you chose the G3 is the clear winner, it won Smartphone of the Year for a reason
But, if I can convince you to do one thing, buy a Xiaomi :') more bang for your buck
If not then the g3 is for you

I recommend a ZUK Z2 (Snapdragon 820/4GB RAM/64GB ROM) can be had from Ebay UK for under £200. This will also get Nougat. Plus plenty of custom ROMs.

Ive never heard of Xiaomi but I had a look at it and it seems really good! however, is it true that there might be problems in orderding the phone, warranty and it doesnt have Google Store and apps? the battery is also non removale and theres no SD slot? is the price attractive? is the phone durable? I dont know if I am ready to take such a huge risk and order online from unknown source... any suggestions?

eglobalcentral, 201 quid, paid via Paypal so covered, included 6-8 day insured shipping for the international version Mi5 porting miui 8 atop Android 6.0
Bargain
If you buy from these guys there is a 1 year warranty PLUS you're covered via paypal, so you're honestly fine
True, no removable battery but Quickcharge 3.0 means you dont need an external one :innocent:
Its the international version running the latest MIUI on Android 6, so it has google play and everything as normal
My banking app (santander) also works fine on it, so meh
No SD slot but standard comes with 32GB storage and for 20 ish more you get 64GB, how much space does a phone need xD
Also if you can afford an extra 50-100 there is a premium 4GB RAM ceramic model as well as the 'Mi5s' 5.5 inch model too
Personally I just went for the standard 3GB RAM version and its smooth as hell, coming from a very heavy phone user too
EDIT: The phone is back up to 211 with insured delivery, so extra tenner, but my point doesnt change I think.
They're mostly all made in china anyways :')
what about VAT and utom duties, warranty etc? the website seems unreliable...

I cant speak for everyone but I ordered an LG G4 through them, no problems, no taxes and fast delivery, my mum broke it and we got a refund through paypal
Bought my Mi5, it was as cheap as the chinese sites, it was sent via tracked DPD which was nice
Their Ts and Cs now state they cover any taxes or customs see 16.1 here no hidden charges or anything
no issues so far, amazing phone, slim, fast, crisp, bright, absolutely love MIUI, feels like iOS w/ google play to me
Only took a week to arrive, and tracked all the way, dispatched within 2 days of ordering, pretty good
12 month warranty too and the option of paypal, a rarity on such sites
So personally I have to rate them highly, they're cheap, they offer quick turnaround, have warranty and paypal
Go for it I say, just my opinion tho

Yeah, its a great phone but its very risky to order it from eBay or any other international online retailer eg. from China.... You never know what you get, the warranty issues, tax, customs etc.... :/
miimiii
27 Nov 16#51
You had a good experience with the company so you're lucky but I read other forums and opinions about the retailer and it doesn't look good...They don't have good reputation and there are problems with the phones after a while, issues with warranty and refund, other shipping, tax, customs costs etc..Moreover, I have a simcard from GiffGaff so I don't know if it works with the phone from China....The phone is great and I wish it was available in the UK at a cheap price but I believe ordering it from a Chinese online retailer is too risky... I don't want to lose any money ...Its too much hassle...You got your phone a while ago but you don't know if it is going to work in a one year time... or even after 6 months... I think I'll have to wait till Boxing day and see the deals in the UK...I'm disappointed with Argos and the LG G4 , cause I think it was a good deal and a good phone... Anyway, thanks for your advice and honest opinion
