Picked up 2 of these from my local super store, they had quite a few and they didn't seem to be any big rush for them. Have installed one and my initial thoughts are - my last used 20 years ago aerial doesn't seem to be working so no Freeview. Linked it into my video processor and adjusted the picture, very few options here, for example no ability to change individual colours or hue etc.
It feels light weight and cheap. It is quite a thick unit at the back and doesn’t sit as flush to the wall as my older set, I have about a 10 cm gap now.
The set shows up the difference between my sources far more than my other screens do. My skybox feed looks better than my freesat box. Not sure if this means the set is actually resolving the picture better but in viewing terms…
To me the picture quality looks worse than my old, but well regarded in its day, Hitachi 32" 720p screen and my projector too for that matter, some judder on panning, some halos round people etc (even with sharpness turned to zero) some jagged edges and distortion on spots/lines etc but for £199 I don't think you could expect more. Its all liveable with and better than one should expect for the best picture
Audio sounds pretty good on speech – haven’t listed to music or action films yet
Apps – These look to be heavily biased at Europe and it took me a while to work out where the headline UK apps were, but once I found them they all worked far faster than my Now tv box does, probably because the TV is hardwired to the LAN
The biggest issue I think is the feet, if you are planning to use the feet and a table it needs to be at least a meter wide. The feet are 97cm apart to the outside edges. The other option is to buy a table top mount that uses the VESA mounts on the rear.
Think of it as a bargain priced cheap TV and all in all for £199 I don’t think many people will be disappointed.

Thanks to the OP. Ordered Friday AM delivered Sunday AM!
Set up and working fine. I've upgraded the firmware, they call the new firmware "Netflix Update" but it also has a new iPlayer version with live TV over the internet.
There is a leaflet inside the box to EXTEND the warranty free by 6 months (18 month total) worth doing this now / when you unbox
Pros
- Picture Quality. This is a great LCD panel with back lit LED. Colours are bright and picture / motion is fine. Watched Planet Earth 2 and the expereince was very good.
-Sound. Ok this is a budget TV but the sound on this TV is exceptional at this price point. The speakers are large (indeed they make the screen thicker than you might expect but that's OK for better sound IMHO. As well as decent speakers and amps the unit has DSP processing for virtual surround and supports various audio formats. Amazing! The volume control is well thought out with ballistic control providing a good range of sound control for quiet and loud listening 10/10
- Excellent remote (not a Netflix users but I keep pressing the huge Netflix button by mistake) might be worth waiting until Dec to try the free one month so you have it over the festive period?
-iPlayer implementation superb defaults to HD which is fine, option to downgrade to lower bit rate if you have a slow / busy internet connection
-WiFi simple to setup and secure 2.4.gHz only but WiFi at this price point is amazing. Works well
-YouTube App some minor bugs (initial stream may stall) works well with Android Phone you tube app TV appears as a casting device, Was able to login to my account on the TV see my subscriptions and push new items onto my queue from the phone. Interface using the remote was also good.
-Miracast works well can push photos etc from phone reasonable and fast implementation
-HDMI full CEC support (disabled by default)
-Simple to use user interface
-TV Tuner (not tested) appears to have USB Storage based PVR
-Vesa 200 x 200 and 11kg so simple to install and lift. I ordered this stand (302043368020) but overkill but it has scope to holder larger / heavier screens, Don't need the pull out feature for watching but it makes cleaning the vents, installing new devices simpler.
Cons (both really minor - its me knitpicking)
Slight light bleed on high brightness to be fair you'd only turn up the brightness to these high levels in daylight also when a picture is displayed on the screen there is ZERO bleed visible this is not a problem with the TV all low end TV and some mid range units have uneven backlighting. If you watch very dark images late at night or in a darkened room on ANY LCD TV you will see the backlights. Only emissive display technology eliminates this this is NOT a problem with this TV but all on emissive TV (e.g. all LCD tvs) at high brightness there is a small amount of panel bleed and on mine there is a very slight dark spot on the bottom right corner. Again hard to notice and certainly not worth returning the unit. I've seen far was worse on the edge lit TV costing much more! If this is an issue set the TV up to Movie mode and adjust / calibrate to minimise the impact. This should not stop you buying this TV as its a by product of the backlighting system in use.
There is very minor light spilling out of the rear of the unit again not a problem and expected on these lower end models
-Some complex features like CEC turned off by default probably to reduce tech support calls from folk who might not need this. Those who do can turn it on.

Mine seems to be broken. Turns on says 'sharp' ten turns off, turns on by itself again says sharp and turns off again. Repeats over and over and won't load. Can't do anything with remote. Have taken plugs out and in again. Any ideas before I contact manufacturer?
Thanks

That wasn't the only issue with the tv. It would also refuse to turn on from standby with pulling out the power plug and re-inserting it in. I would get a refund if I could get something similar for about the same price.

Have you tired the same HDMI cable and source with both TVs just to be sure. Its possible the fault you describe is inte the upstream leg (Sat->Tuner>HDMI) ? Also worth factory resetting the Sharp TV.. Just a thought, something to try when you are waiting for Tesco to comeback.

Sorry to hear about the way you are being treated. I had some issues like this after the first firmware update (not has frequent as yours) a couple of points
1) If you are use the TV on the network (wired or WiFi) refrain from pressing any buttons until the initialising message has gone. Its a spinning circle on the top right. I can get my set to crash if I try and access YouTube while its booting.
2) I found most of the issue I had went away if I went into settings and did a factory reset. I had to do this AFTER each firmware update.
3) Before powering off the TV make sure you stop playback and close YouTube / iplayer etc.
Some questions / suggestions about your setup
1) Did the problem just happen out of the blue or did the set never work?
2) Is the set near any heating or electrical equipment - if its on an extension lead try plugging it direct to a wall socket. just to see if that helps.
3) If you have devices connected to the TV unplug them all (Physically remove the connections to the TV) then see if the problems occur e.g. TV only with internet, TV with Aerial, TV with SAT Rec, TV with Game console
4) Make sure NOTHING is plugged into the USB ports (I've an LG set - High end and it crashes all the time if I have a USB HD plugged in!) the power used by the drive is from the same 5+V rail that powers the "SMART TV" board technically its called a PC-Card the other mains boards in the TV are T-CON (timing controller for the LED) and Tuner boards.
5) I assume you are turning off the TV at the mains for at least 30s after each crash as a warm reboot is not the same a cold restart.?
I've yet to find a good "SMART TV" I've a few and the best ones are the "DUMB" TVs like my KURO. I have every TV in the house connected to a Orange Pi / Rasberry Pi with onboard network tuners / NAS this is so much better than the "smart" TVs I've seen and the Set Top boxes offered by Virgin. Sky is ok but their boxes are costly / restrictive. Even top end brands put really cheap tuners in their sets, so recommend an external tuner like Humax.

Well we bought this TV at the Tesco sale price and it resets itself 3-4 times an hour. Goes off completely then reboots. Tried two firmware updates with no success. Contacted Tesco who told us to contact UMC who own sharp or manufacture the sets. After a pretty condescending phone operative conversation we were told to take back to Tesco for a refund. Told them we didn't want a refund as it was in a sale and they had no more stock and that we wouldn't be able to get a similar set for the money alls we got from both Tesco and Sharp/UMC was tough. The warranty is nonsense. They will not repair the TV due to it being over 43" so anyone have any future problems don't expect a repair or replace. The best you will get is a refund. Which isn't going to buy you a TV of the same size/spec. Couldn't believe what we were hearing. Totally disgusted. Tried everything, emailing, calling, managers, tweets neither Tesco or Sharp/UMC would budge. Its over 43" so we won't even come out and look at it. Refund is the best you will get. RIDICULOUS!!!!

Any Vesa compliant VESA 200 x 200 (mm) wall mount that can take a 15kg load will be fine (TV is 11KG according to the specs if not base stand used). You might want to add some hardware to the TV (Roku, Amazon stick, Chromecast, Apple TV) but these are normally tiny.
I checked the Vesa specification in the manual Page 10 covers view angle for wall mount, page 38 state the VESA 200 x 200 (mm) for the 49CFG6001K model. The manual I used is here http://www.umc-uk.co.uk/instruction-manuals/Sharp/6001K/Sharp%20-%20User%20Guide%20-%20SHA-MAN-0178-%20SmartTV%20-%2060%20models%20v5.pdf ).Ideally you need a solid wall if you full control over position. If you have a stud wall you can mount the stand on the beams or get special fixing for plaster/b The stand I select had a lot of control for motion and could be pulled out for viewing to almost any angle. There are thinner, simpler stands for a lot less. I paid £15 for mine but the price had gone up. I also purchased a mount that could take a larger set, so when I replace the TV the stand can stay. I also chose a stand with the mountings I need for masonry - The fixing can cost more than the stand so its worth thinking about your needs now and in the future. For cabling I will drill a hole behind the TV and run power / sat. / ethernet / HDMI next time wiring work is planned. For the time being I have no TV cable in the room but the unit has iPlayer and WiFi which works fine even on HD. I have the power cable running behind a radiator so its not too visible. I've hidden a thin HDMI cable behind the power cable so it looks like only one wire goes to the set. This will do until summer when building work is planned. The HDMI goes to an Orange Pi that runs Kodi and use network over mains to get a TV signal from a remote Server (Rasberry Pi with a £3 USB TB tuner) works perfectly for now with no local TV areal connection. I got some radio remote for the Kodi (£4) as the unit is in a conservatory and IR remote don't work too well in bright sun
Hope this helps what sort of stand / set up were you looking at?.There are plenty of options and price points.

thanks for the info. I'm currently running v2.05 2016-11-29 20:40:22. The last freeview issue happened about 3 days ago. When I checked the signal strength it was jumping about all over the place, but interestingly after re-tunning the signal strength and quality were fine again. I've checked and there is no maintenance on my transmitter (I'm in Inverness). Wifi is fine today.
I've turned off Standby scanning as you suggested.

Was it due to the firmware updates? There have been 2 updates in the last month (reported in this thread one withing days of black friday and one a couple of weeks after black Friday. If its not the firmware updates it might be channels on low power for maintenance (need your post code to check transponders or have a look hear to see if that the cause: https://ukfree.tv/extras/BBC_Engineeering
Have you got standby scanning on? This looks for new channels when the TV is off) the default is off, might be worth turning this option off in case that's the cause?

I noticed the streaming client does not handle errors in the network etc. Youtube is fast once it has loaded. I've not used the commercial Youtube app before. Orignally I was going to buy a Rasberry Pi or Orange Pi and install LibreElec just for the streaming (MKV) and the Ad Free Youtube plus FreeSAT and Freeview (I've another Rasberry Pi in the house with USB tuners so can stream the SAT / Areal feeds including HD) but the TV works nicely with the built in Wifi and software. Might delay my purchase of Rasberry Pi until I see a good deal.
To be fair most TVs have really poor streaming and the codec support is patchy, likely due to patent licencing issues. That said this unit is DTS/AC3 licences but that might be a chipset level implementation, part of the sound system ie decoder + amplifer combo circuit board.

Oh thanks. I've got some of the TV's listed and there recommendations are a bit off the mark. As I said there is no best setting as you need at LEAST a day (high ambient light) and a night setting IMHO. I think the default presets are great just flick through the settings (Personal, Movie etc) if it asks leave HOME MODE says yes this is just the default power saving. The changes to settings are normal transient (do not survive a restart, unless you edit a profile or use service menu - Not recommend unless you are 100% sure of what this means)
I'm impressed with the default presets settings, as I said try the different sound modes too (the sound and picture menu) just trying the different factory presets might be a safe options for you?

Absolute bargain used a USB and it played everything with no worries , it's little things that I'm so impressed with like auto play next video file etc
Only down points is aquos apps rubbish no 4od etc but I have a firestick so no worries
Plus lack of more settings but I have left everything default as I'm very happy
If you are using the built in tuner via an aerel, then select cinema mode. Try the different sound modes to see which one you like. I set the brightness up for daytime viewing (This is stored on my set on the personal setting) and for night time I have brightness turned down (This is stored on as my movie profile). For sound I have the virtual sound etc all turned off.
If you have deviced connected to the TV its worth using an HDMI cable these can be had on ebay for under £1. I'd really advise avoiding SCART and RCA Video connections for the best picture quality. Let me know how you get on I'm in the processing calibrating setting mine up so happy to share specific settings that work for me if that's helpful. Once you have setup the TV and sources there are other options you can use to make things simpler (eg. disable inputs that you do no use etc)
The TV has an onboard DNLA client so can stream media from a range of source plus Miracast (for streaming content from phones. The Youtube software is very good for a smart TV. If you are interested you can use a Rasberry Pi with LibreElec for Youtube as this strips out the adverts worthwhile if there is a lot of Youtube watching!
Ok didn't know it was that advanced. I use it in my living room with light coming in from the window. I was just hoping for a generic settings improvement, they provide this service on the Which website but not for this model it seems. Just really looking to see if i can change any settings to improve picture quality e.g. adjusting the contrast or brightness,

What do you mean best? Best Picture Quality -well that depends on source and lighting? Best economy that's easy ECO mode with min brightness. There are important factors to consider, if you provide some insight into where you are using the set an the ambient lighting that might help. To be clear there is no one setting for a perfect set up. I have presets for daytime and evening viewing. Drop the light output in the evening. There are options for sharpness etc but these really need to be aligned with your TV picture source. Again some of these setting have no impact if you are watching on line content.
Lighting
1) Are you using the set in direct sunlight
2) Are you using the set at night with room lighting
3) Are you using the set in darkness for an AV room / Cinema room
The you need to consider your sources
1) For the best picture link a up an external tuner, though the on board tuner is fine for most uses
2) Have you set up the Wifi / Ethernet and tried the iPlayer and Youtube apps? (Worth linking your you tube app to a Google account so you can add subscriptions (these can be free or paid)
3) Games consoles etc
Audio
1) Surprisingly this TV has really good sound. For the best sound use an external AV Amp and speakers (studio active would be my recommendation- no need for fancy brands or special cable stock microphone cable is fine and a sub if you budget can stretch a good value brand like BK Electronics is fine)
2) Headphones this TV has headphone out the entry level sets are fine or again if you want the higher end AV wireless headsets are good, get closed cans for bedroom use without disturbing others.

Sounds like a reasonable question to me. How are your speakers connected to the TV? Are you using the headphone socket 3.5mm? Look at the Audio setup (Its called Sound I think and there might be an option to disable TV output.) The headphone socket should automatically disable the TV sound.
Are you using an external source to drive the TV eg, a Humax FreeSAT unit ./ Sky TV / Virgin Cable box? Is so you can just set the TV volume to zero and use the Audio out on the set top box.

All fine, re-tightened slightly still fine. Rechecked this morning in daylight ZERO bleed in daylight even on a full black screen. At night there is very minor irregular backlight but this is only visible on a totally black screen with no image, so not a fair tested. Watched some HD video and the screen looks perfect. I'm going to try the fix for light bleed by loosening some of the screws on the frame. The suggestion that the fame is over tightened and is warping the panel sounds spot on there is no reason for this level of bleed on a high quality LG panel. I think the torque setting on the driver in the factory was too high.
Is the Warranty extended through Tescos or Sharp itself?? Time to google the links methinks.

Its the Amazon Fire TV box with the Kodi instal I use so it's straight into the Hdmi port as it's powered by a mains adaptor. Working really well. It's a shame that there's no access to the standard playstore so it could be added as an app but the external kodi supported boxes and sticks are cheap enough. I've also enabled auto standby in the Cec menu so it turns the box off when I turn the tv off. To turn it on I just select the source as hdmi and it switches the amazon box on.

Had a slight issue with light bleed right in the middle of the lower part of the screen which was driving me nuts on dark scenes. Loosened the screws from the rear of the set and slightly prised away the bezel and it disappeared. Seemed like it was putting a bit of pressure on the screen itself causing it. Nice that it's CEC capable so enabled it in the menu and it controls my Amazon fire TV from the remote. (The exit button is the back button on Kodi if anyone's using it)

Yes, mine arrived (my one, to NI, not the in-laws one). Have used HDMI (Kodi box), iPlayer, Miracast of phone & YouTube - very impressed! No backlight issues for me (I would be irked by them if bad, but not go looking).
My volume was set to stun (about mid 20s) - very quickly reduced it to under 10!
The shipped feet are very far apart (97cm between the outer sides) they would be better narrower (both for looks & the range of suitable stands). I doubt that putting them 20 or 30cm closer would affect stability too much.

Verdicts out on Aqueous Net, but I already have android boxes, so it's something new to play with! All in all, very good, thanks again OP

I'm very pleased with picture quality compaired to my 5 year old Samsung! I updated the Netflix ok but can't get WiFi to work?? I also noticed this morning that brightness was going up and down slightly on its own! Anyone else any problems?

I will say this about the TV, the light bleed is significant, it's not really good enough IMO as a living room TV, more suited to a bedroom or guest room.
For £200 though, wow.

I went to the hotel mode menu, and simply disabled everything apart from HDMI 3 (which my roku is plugged into).
Not that I want to, but you cannot disable the Freeview tuner as far as I can tell.

Its worth noting that non Microsoft r/w on NTFS and ExFAT is risky. If you have existing recordings any writes to the device can potentially corrupt the drive so back up. USB flash / SD is not a good solution for TV recording. Cheap HD are better. To format large drive FAT32 there are utilities eg
Which options did you use to do this I'm wanting to do something similar. Also any other options of interest found when you used the service menu?

Yes it does, but some folk want to put this on surfaces narrower than the original legs are spaced, so have purchased aftermarket stands and legs for wall / narrow desk mounting.
The orginal lets provided with the set are spaced wide for improved stability there is also a tether on the rear to fix to the wall to prevent the unit from toppling forward.

"Currently in-laws have 1 foot attached & other side supported by a book/catalogue (I haven't seen it, but this was my suggestion)" and me!!! I will look at the options you suggested, many thanks for you prompt reply <3
I must add that the legs ordered have not yet arrived (ordered late Friday & posted Monday); Amazon item B01I3JOCF8 £16. Also look at ebay item 291817129342; £14.03 + 99p postage. Again, I have not used either, but both were top of my list.
Currently in-laws have 1 foot attached & other side supported by a book/catalogue (I haven't seen it, but this was my suggestion).
EDIT: as for wall mounting, not sure, but I wouldn't have thought a wall mount would be out of the question - I know when my cousin rented out his house, the tenant nailed dozens of pictures to the wall & he said he couldn't charge them because it wasn't structural. Yes I just went into settings (once the TV was on the network) and under firmware there are options for online update or USB I opted for the first. There server is slow so the download took just under 5 mins and then the update took another 5. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT TURN OFF THE TV DURING the update. I had on issue 3 hours after the update the screen said on even after I press power off (the LED said blue) I think it was just a glitch after the firmware update as it was the fist time I'd switched it off. After the update TV reboot (softboot) so make sure you are not recording anything etc! After the update I'd check things are still working and then power off the set, then remove the power just once to ensure a hard reset.

Guy at tesco wanted to order me a replacement - he could not believe that it could be out so quick either! Just think where it is going - need a 23 cm surface 97cm apart for the feet (not sure how wide each foot is). Wall mounting should be more straight forward.

26 Nov 162#157
Well I can point you to a £10 piece of black shelving in B&Q as a temp option (24cm by 118cm IIRC) - would sit across the stand & TV sit on it. Otherwise it is some legs (£16 on Amazon) or a stand as low as £15 on ebay, both of which fit the VESA mounts on the TV. Failing that a new TV table.

I still don't know if the parcel was addressed wrong (Tesco fault) or delivered wrong (Yodel fault).

Now looking at options - ebay item 262682896123 looks like an option at £17 delivered (the item looks better than the engrish in the ad). I note that it only goes up to 400 by 350 (should be fine as this is meant to be VESA 200x200, though I am confused as to why the 48" model uses 400x400 and the 49" uses the much smaller 200x200).
EDIT: Now went for Amazon item B01I3JOCF8. Just 2 legs that attach to the VESA mounts (will do all sizes from 200x200 to 400x400, just in case). Managed to get the above type down to £15.02 on ebay (291817129342; £14.03 + 99p postage), but this type gives better options & access to any ports. £2 cheaper on Amazon over the same seller on eBay!

25 Nov 162#112
Ordered one earlier, does anyone know the width and depth between the stand feet? I want to make sure my TV stand is big enough.
frownbreaker
25 Nov 161#111
That's just a guideline look at the stand it is Vesa 200x200 and the max load is 25kg. The TV is 11.6Kg and Vesa 200x200
So the stand will 1) Fit on the back of the TV 2) Support a unit TWICE the weight of this TV 3) The larger screen is not an issue as the excess will overhang the frame.
Suire you can get this one for larger screens http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tilt-TV-Wall-Mount-Bracket-26-32-40-42-46-47-50-55-LCD-Samsung-Sony-HOT-/262400417922 but that costs more, but it might be worth if if you want the mount to take this screen and later on perhaps a larger screen? Worth looking at the pull out and swivel mounts (£17 on eBay) as these are useful for 1) positioning away from the wall ie not flat against the wall with a tilt) 2) Pull the screen out to plug in accessories e.g. Chromecast, Rasberry Pi etc)

Just been looking on the Tesco website & they have a 43" Sharp Smart TV, similar to this one (except screen size, obviously)
I just hope they put that model on sale at some point too, since it's currently £249. If they reduce that TVs price to around £130-£150 I'll definitely buy it.
This 49" is a scorcher of a deal, but too big for my bedroom.
Come on Tesco, drop the price on the 43" !!!

Was going to purchase a 40 inch screen for the young lad's bedroom this Christmas but seen this deal so went with it instead. At 200 quid for a 47 it's a no-brainer.
Ordered online with delivery to door next week FOC. **** the turmoil of waiting in a queue @ Tesco and having to endure getting car parked when I can get it delivered for free. I'd even have paid for delivery to avoid the mayhem which is Black Friday.

Think of it as a bargain priced cheap TV and all in all for £199 I don’t think many people will be disappointed.

but the EBay one only up to 32inch?

25 Nov 161#97
I was in the same boat. The 32" is currently sobbing. The Sharp may "only be £200", but it's a pretty good display. Booted up Portal 2, from a GT820m, when I got home with it and saw no obvious problems. IMO, good buy.

Yes - I've answered my own question.
This is a link to the Manual I have to say it's pretty impressive for the price. Yes it's not 10bit, 4k, HDR etc but it's £199 and from a retailer with good customer service.

Yeah,. I m not a noob on a pc or anything lol I've tried everything I can to get my money into real money. Every bank has a different transfer time, looks like I have a bad one. I could get a paypal card or send the money elsewhere but nothing is instant enough for me to get this t.v today lol , and no doubt in 1-3 days it'll be gone.
Anybody found any t.v in this price range which are just as good ? maybe 43" smart ? or 40" 4k in the 200 range ?
If i dont get a new t.v xmas the christmas films won't look as good !!! HOME ALONE HELP ! thanks lol

I use my PayPal account a lot - thousands of pounds of transactions per month. The money always transfers over pretty much instantly - their emails state 'within two hours'. Not really sure why you're seeing different? Could be your bank, or might be something to do with account verification? It's always worked like this for me.

You's are my witnesses, my wife mumbled that I should get it in her sleep...

Is it the same problem on all sources? Might be worth doing a factory reset / retune just in case.
I clicked on a link here but it's expired
Having said that, also have a 4yr old but stand seems steady enough. Should really use a wall plug to attach it to the wall though.
I've turned off Standby scanning as you suggested.
Have you got standby scanning on? This looks for new channels when the TV is off) the default is off, might be worth turning this option off in case that's the cause?
To be fair most TVs have really poor streaming and the codec support is patchy, likely due to patent licencing issues. That said this unit is DTS/AC3 licences but that might be a chipset level implementation, part of the sound system ie decoder + amplifer combo circuit board.
I'm impressed with the default presets settings, as I said try the different sound modes too (the sound and picture menu) just trying the different factory presets might be a safe options for you?
Only down points is aquos apps rubbish no 4od etc but I have a firestick so no worries
Plus lack of more settings but I have left everything default as I'm very happy
http://www.heronfidelity.com/blog/tv-picture-setup-guide.html
There is a nice video on that page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2kfFFwxSWo
Let me know how you get on there are other guides too all aimed at different levels of reader e.g. https://www.engadget.com/2010/12/30/how-to-connect-and-set-up-your-new-hdtv-all-the-cables-conten/
I must say I am very impressed with this set , haven't touched settings and picture is very good in my humble opinion , minimal light bleed for me , plus good set of features and ports , for the money this product is great

Are you using an external source to drive the TV eg, a Humax FreeSAT unit ./ Sky TV / Virgin Cable box? Is so you can just set the TV volume to zero and use the Audio out on the set top box.
The serial number is also on the box to save you taking it back off the wall
If you're using WEP (you shouldnt be), it may be that the TV doesnt support it (it shouldnt)
Theres an adaptive brightness/contrast option, it might be enabled.
What settings work best for you? I've turned most options off or down.
For £200 though, wow.
Not that I want to, but you cannot disable the Freeview tuner as far as I can tell.

... On a plus point, took the Roku Stick back for a refund and they gave me the full whack back, so a free tenner for me
push bottons on RC........MENU,1,1,4,7
push bottons on RC........SOURCE,2,5,8,0
I got the setup one to work no luck with the sources. Setup menu had hotel mode, can set the start-up settings.
The orginal lets provided with the set are spaced wide for improved stability there is also a tether on the rear to fix to the wall to prevent the unit from toppling forward.
Obviously check this out don't go on my recollection from 20 years ago.
I have two usb's one USB 2.0 formatted with Fat32, and one USB 3 formatted with exFat. All is well with the Fat32 drive - I can record/pause etc. I can watch videos etc.
But my other stick has movies, videos already stored - it's 64Gb in size but formatted using exFat so I can use files bigger than 4Gb. But I've tried this in both slots and the TV cannot "see" it.
Thanks.
With regards to the issues I had, they were Yodel (box clearly labelled for home delivery).
Happy at the moment
Won't be opened until Crimbo, but just read a comment on another feed, that after the update, the TV died - hopefully that was possibly due to it being started up straight after being delivered from the cold...ours will have a month of secretly stored room temp
I was 'lucky' to talk to several helpful folk; Adil at Tesco Direct (very helpful, called me back repeatedly as promised), Meagan the helpful South African girl at Yodel, the nice Scottish girl at Tesco's contact centre & Janice at Yodel in Selby who also called me back as promised (thanks to saynoto0870.com; http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php).
I still don't know if the parcel was addressed wrong (Tesco fault) or delivered wrong (Yodel fault).
I am happy to confirm that my in-laws have now picked up the TV from their local Tesco. I'm going to take 2 paracetamol & lie down in a darkened room!!!!!
All is well that ends well...
Thanks again OP & ianfromnotts. Hope yours arrived Jorg & good luck tommytse22!
Helen
 [yes that is massively rye]
EDIT: Tesco can't believe it will be out today, while Yodel reckon it has been mis-scanned & has not been delivered (NSS - I told you that), but will be delivered today! Fingers crossed!
edit: saying that as soon as i posted it dropped to 52
On Yodel site it says 5 deliveries before yours - anyone know if that is from start of run or in real time?
You can give it a try, but it's says the same thing on the 43" Blaupunkt, but when you're about to go to the payment section - it says there is no stock left.
Parcel details for Parcel 1: *******************
that is the tracking number you put in the yodel website along with the delivery postcode
Thanks again for all your help!
I think Tesco Direct are OOS for this Sharp on their website but some store still have stock.
Have ordered this for in-laws who use a TV stand & just confirmed that the base (the traditional upside down T type) of the old one is only 56cm. Have asked the width of the stand now (though it won't help as it is pointed)! Arrghhh!
Can you confirm that the feet are 23cm deep?
It gives the link to the similar model that was posted earlier.
tv? Ive ordered but now wondering if it'll fit on my tv stand!!
I just hope they put that model on sale at some point too, since it's currently £249. If they reduce that TVs price to around £130-£150 I'll definitely buy it.
This 49" is a scorcher of a deal, but too big for my bedroom.
Come on Tesco, drop the price on the 43" !!!
"Sorry, we don't have enough Sharp LC-49CFG6001K Smart Full HD 49 Inch LED TV with Freeview HD items in stock right now. This item (s) has been added to your save for later basket. You can try to purchase this item again by reducing its quantity."
Ordered online with delivery to door next week FOC. **** the turmoil of waiting in a queue @ Tesco and having to endure getting car parked when I can get it delivered for free. I'd even have paid for delivery to avoid the mayhem which is Black Friday.
Although based on the review above I think i'll give it a miss, picture worse than a 32" 720p Hitachi? I'll pass

This is a link to the Manual I have to say it's pretty impressive for the price. Yes it's not 10bit, 4k, HDR etc but it's £199 and from a retailer with good customer service.
