I bought these for around the same price about 6 years ago and they really impressed me with the sound quality, considering the price of them. However, after about a year, the left ear cup went silent even though the cabling was in perfect condition and I had always done my best to look after them. For headphones on the go, I'm only ever going to go for bluetooth ones from now on, or stick to wired headphones primarily for DJ'ing.
But for the price, these are definitely worth a shot.

Exactly the same happened to me, and it was covered under warranty so I got a replacement free of charge (except the cost of posting my old pair to them). Lots of people seem to be unaware of the 2-year warranty on these.

I have these and sometimes use an extender to make the cable longer. Lol

At this price I guess you could let that slide

Yeah. I refuse to buy headphones without a detachable cable.
You probably could, I mean I find it's usually where the wire connects to the headphone that can be an issue. Chop it, solder it, good as new.

The wire isn't detachable.

Great headphones, they usually last me about 2 years before the wiring goes after pretty much daily use and abuse.

Can't you buy new wires?
I've had a pair of something similar for over 20 years and bought new cables about 5 years ago (and ear cushions which had perished)

I have these and they're very good.
They're on-ear rather than over-ear.
The cables do wear out at the point where it enters the cups; I've had to cut the cable and re-solder once or twice.
Still good value, although I now use Sony bluetooth cans.
Edit: to stop the cable from wearing out, I recommend Sugru to reinforce the connection

It's good for the amount of times I've had to strip the cable back and rewire it when it inevitably goes dodgy (gets used out and about 5 days a week)... Must have about twenty years of rewires before the cable gets to a normal length!

Very useful if you're sitting in another part of the room, away from your amplifier/PC/whatever. I have these phones and often use the full extent of the cable, and I live in a small house.

Tv in bed to not wake the missus would be one good use

Good headphones, just one thing to note is that the cable is around 3m long. So can be abit of a hassle sometimes

What the hell anyone needs 3m for - that's longer than my car, twice as long as my wife!
Have ones with 2m cable and it drives me nuts.

I find the cable length useful but they a a bit small and I don't have particularly large ears. Good headphones for the money tho.

My HD - 497 (I think they are) can virtually be rebuilt from spares, except for the earpieces themselves
