Seems the best deal for this performance level. Ought to be able to run everything well for a good while and you can use a freesync monitor which costs a small premium over a standard one.

So I ordered the one from Amazon on Monday - how is this one better?
'Recommendations' pretty simple and hardly offensive. Back to ya troll hole

According to AMD UK on twitter, the offer is on from the 22nd. ebuyer, overclockers, and scan mentioned, but not amazon.
I've already got my game code from scan

Couldn't resist this, even with the expensive delivery cost. Replacing a 750ti so I can dial up the settings in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

there's a delivery to a local shop option for a fiver, plus I gave an easy way to get free delivery by joining avforums.com, takes 5 mins to do!

Voted hot! Excellent price. I bought a reference 470 on release for £165 and have been extremely happy with it for the games I play.

If someone who gets theirs delivered today could let me know if the fans turn off when idle it would be much appreciated.
If you could also say if it has a backplate and how many heatpipes the cooler has that would be great.

No backplate but feels sturdy enough. Can confirm fans are off when idle.

Considering upgrading from a r9 380, either to this RX 470 or the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8GB for £215 & Civ VI. What would you guys recommend for 1080p gaming with some future-proofing for newer games? Is the RX 480 worth £65 more?

for 1080p i decided to get this. rx480 4gb is only 10pc better for 1080p gaming. and the 8gh not really suited for 4k gaming. so i decided to spend 150 on this for 1080p and in future can gey day an rx 490 when released and sell this. didn't see much difference worth 70 quid eg cheapest 8gb 480 around 220 if lucky maybe 230.

As previously mentioned this is definitely a different version to what the listing mentions backplate and seems to suggest a BIOS switch to select a factory overclock and LED button this has none of that.
Also the images for this card typically show the power connector on the rear of the unit, On this one they are placed on top
Not sure whether to keep just about to contact Scan

I posted a link earlier in this thread of the card on the sapphire site that shows pics with the power connector on the side. Scan do seem to have manufacturer part number incorrect and does incorrectly state there is a backplate but I saw no mention of the bios switch or led fans on the scan listing??

Yes sorry what I meant is when searching online for this I typically came across reviews and website that showed the power connector on the rear and BIOS switch. I didnt realise such a version existing as this until I saw your product listing (By that time I had already ordered)
The XFX is clocked 10mhz lower, not much of a difference admittedly! The XFX has a backplate whereas the Sapphire doesn't, not sure what benefit it really makes though. Next to no difference, I'd probably save the fiver

If you compare them side by side, it states that they both have backplates. The XFX card has 3 Displayport + 1 HDMI, whereas the Sapphire has 2 Displayport + 2 HDMI. The XFX has easily detachable fans, and a 6 pin connector (Sapphire has an 8 pin connector). Sapphire card is very slightly larger.
Personally, I would opt for the Sapphire card.

This is the Nitro, not the Nitro+. There's very little information about it.
As far as I can tell the differences are:
1236MHz clock instead of 1260MHz (2% difference)
No backplate
No LED lighting
No mode switch
Fans don't have two ball bearings?
Power connector on top rather than at the back
1cm shorter
I'm not too bothered about any of those. I'm happy with mine, good performance, and the fans switch off below 50 degrees.

Immense price.

Thanks OP!
EDIT: same product code as the nitro+ on scan but different clock speeds; looks like they just have a different listing up for the sale version.
I've already got my game code from scan
