So, I spotted yesterday that Currys does online deal for this TV at £699 (in store is still £799). But they only offer standard 1 year warranty. Therefore I went to my local John Lewis and asked for price match which they did with no hassle whatsoever. So I bought it from JL for £699 with their standard 5 years warranty:-)
Code TV30 will save you £30 on top of at Currys (£669).
Depends if the extra spend for the warranty is worth it to you.

It's not just the extra, it's any warranty, Currys have the worst service going. Two TVs and two tablets at Currys both have been a nightmare, waited the full 28 days both times, one of which the TV actually sat in the shop for a month behind the counter, not only that nearly every time they tried to fob me off for another few weeks waiting while they "attempted a repair". For the tablet after two "repairs" I ended up claiming a refund off my credit cards warranty after their repair place wrote it off after only 48 hours. John Lewis on the other hand I've never had a single issue with warranty service, and they don't try and con you into overpriced extras, just tell you what you need and to get it on amazon.

I would prefer extra 4 years warranty rather than £30 savings but you're right.

You get that anyway. It's just that John Lewis make it easier to access.
I have a UE49KU6500 (49") which is basically the curved version of the KU6400 series & standard def sky looks really bad frankly. The good thing is, this TV has a built in Freeview HD & Freesat HD tuner. So you can get lots of HD channels through Freeview HD, you'll need an aerial for this like these: goo. gl/vjb2jP). Using the satellite cable that goes into your Sky box, you can also get pretty much all Sky channels using the built in satellite tuner, but the paid channels won't work as an actual Sky box is needed to decrypt those channels.
I have a Sky box but the missus still watches the odd channel broadcast in SD...... I'm really reluctant to change from my 50 inch Panasonic plasma as the picture is really good, though sometimes, a little dark.

KS7000 is almost 2x more expensive and when you watch both next to each other there is very small difference in picture quality so I'm not sure if it is worth paying extra ££££ but this depends on preference as usually

its only acceptable if you want to chuck how much extra cash at a TV, not everyone wants to spend over a grand on a TV

It is a good point, but I think I will take the risk on stock - the price after all, is locked for another 28 days. I don't want the headache of returning the TV if I find a better deal on Black Friday!
eslick
7 Nov 16#22
between now and black Friday is less than 28 days, so they should refund against any of the normal companies they match against without sending the TV back. I got caught last year waiting and lost out so got in early this time

The John Lewis 5 year warranty isn't all it's cracked up to be. I bought a Sony 55inch from John Lewis in the summer of 2014 costing £1200. A few months ago I noticed several dead pixels which were quite noticeable on the screen. I called them to make a claim and after some initial tests and self remedy that they talked me through on the phone, the dead pixels remained on the screen. A week of emails back and forth before an engineer was arranged to come out to replace the LCD panel only to be informed two days before that they've reviewed my claim and have now decided it's not covered by the warranty after all, stating that the locations of the dead pixels does not interfere with the viewing. I told them that it did interfere with my viewing as I can see them, in particular in very light scenes, and the fact that I know they're there now and I can see them all the time. They weren't really interested and in not so many word, told me that they're not replacing the panel and it was tough. Maybe I was just unlucky with my claim. Certainly next time I would probably go for the cheapest price available.

Simple, Write a letter informing them that after seeking legal advice you will proceed to recover the cost of the TV in the small claims court. Unless they remedy the matter in 14 day, you will start your legal claims and add any additional charges.

You need to tell them it's a £30 off marked price with a voucher code available to everyone. They have just priced matched the extra £30 for us after already dropping the price to £699 last week from another retailer.

cheers. I rang them again and low and behold they can now do it... Although not at that point in time because it was greater than £100 so I've had to submit a price match. Only thing is that I think the Curry's 30 off is only for today. Maybe it's wishful thinking they'll process the price match tonight?!

John Lewis refused to price match for me giving the reason that the tv at Currys came with Gamefly Cloud Gaming whilst the tv at John Lewis came with Playstation Now Cloud Gaming. I'm not very impressed with this excuse.

8 Nov 16#44
send an email to their chief executive office, [email protected] they told me the same twice last week and promised that they would get their price match team to add to their checks that playstation now and the cloud based games is the same, as it is, cloud based is the generic name. They should then price match following that you should get a reply in a couple of hours.

Yes, because John Lewis is the only honest retailer. The rest will shout about their price matching policies to persuade you that they have the lowest prices when they have nothing of the sort, and if you challenge them they will grudgingly give you the discount but be as hush hush about it as they can.

I was using old Sony KDF E50 rear projection tv for last 3 or 4 years. it was only HD ready 1280x720 (I think) but it was OK. I only changed tv for more multimedia connectivity and because Sony died. I don't think 4K is needed for standard cable signal and if you prefer to save some money buy full HD for half the price....
