Personally don't think its as good as my Pioneer Kuro or an LG OLED but this gets pretty decent reviews.

They don't..Pioneer no longer make TV's...but anyone who has owned one knows the blacks were the reference before OLED's came into play.
I think Martin Dawes would equal it...My mums came with a 6 year warranty on her Panasonic.

My family got our Pioneer Kuro back in the day from them and then my mums Panasonic..Very honest people and they let you demo the units with your own media so you decide what looks better and not a demo...unlike some stores i know *cough*currys*cough*

It definitely is a 8 with FRC doesn't mean it's not a decent set it gets good reviews but the KS future proofs you to a much greater extent.

Nope!, only thing I'd trade it for is an OLED tv which i'm waiting for the standards to settle.

I love this TV, I've been watching closely for months and will be on a lookout on Black Friday. I don't know Martindawes... I prefer Curry, John Lewis, or Argos because I know if something goes wrong I can just walk down the road and speak to them about it!

Has anyone got a link for this TV that states it 10bit panel and not 8bit or 8+2?
This is 10 bit premium panel and its amazing in every aspect. Got 49 version and couldn't be more happy

I bought this tv from John Lewis last week at 999. The tv is great but I've noticed on totally black screens or black screens with credits- there seems to be a lot of light bleed in the corners and around any bright areas (e.g. The PS logo when a PS4 boots) - is this normal or is it down to settings?
iz123456789 to grimpickings79
18 Nov 16#42
pretty much all tv's have that problem if your brightness is up all the way to the max!
you can't expect any tv (doesn't matter -£500 or +£5000) to push that much light/brightness/pixels without some sort of light bleeding through the corners or whatever!
closest solution is during night/dark times just simply turn your brightness down to whatever you think is reasonable and you won't see the light bleed too much

They are talking nonsense the review on avforums states it's motion handling is good.
Thats what I had read. I did read (somewhere - can't remember exactly where) that there were lots of motion blurring issues. None of the reviews seems to mention this at all though.
Any owners care to chip in ?

Yeah this is still the best TV for the price, you won't get any better unless you spend an extra grand or buy an OLED. It's really annoying for movies with letter boxes, but any other time it's really a non issue. However what I did is just make a black border of my own to go over the bottom part of the letterbox (where the less are) and it covers it nicely. The TV really isn't bad though and you can adjust brightness, watch HDR content will make it worse as it has to boost brightness.

Is the hdmi box a pain when wall mounted? I run enerything through my amp so it seems an extra step. I'm stuck between this and Sony kd55xd8599bu
I'm coming from plasma and can't justify the 2k for oled at the mo

It's better for me personally as it's 3m long and I can hide down below where my consoles are. This saves me from having a few cables going to my TV, including my digital audio. However if you have a system already..... then it shouldn't have any impact on you, it can easily hide behind the TV when wall mounted, or if you amp is less than 3m away... just whack it in there. I personally like it as I can stretch it over and have all my cables be 0.5m short to the box.

My sky box and kodi box are actually on the other side of the room. Long hdmi cable from amp to TV all hidden in the wall. Just think not having one hdmi actually on the tv is a bad design from Samsung .
Will just have to Velcro that box to tv if I decide to get that on Friday .

Its been out of stock since Sunday at John Lewis. I've phoned up and its due to be back in stock on the 2nd Dec.... something doesn't sound right. All other stores have plenty of stock, are they avoiding discounts and price matches around black Friday?

if you've already bought one and the price goes down anywhere else within 28 days do they price match or only if their own price goes down? currys are down to £979 as of last night and showing in stock.

They are now saying they'll be placing a new order on the 2nd Dec. If that is true, it seems a bit odd for a flagship product from a top retailer..... as i say, are they trying to avoid black Friday discounts?
