Posted this yesterday but got expired as the code was not working. However there is now a new code which is and knocks £60 off the total making it the lowest price this set can be bought for. This is the lowest price seen using code ALL60 to get £60 off the listed price of £998.99.
Cashback available via Quidco /Topcashback with a further £20. Was 8.4% at topcashback so may be increased again?
Hope it may help someone

You're wrong, it is 10 bit.. No 8, or 8+2.. 10.
TVs have to be 10 bit to qualify for the UHD Premium certification, which this has.

The retailer isn't going to care, they won't even see the glue, it'll go back too the manufacturer and they want care either, besides you'll have your new TV before then any ways.
Seriously no one cares, I've worked at a few repair places, these big companies just contract it all out and there are so many steps in the chain. You have someone (like how I was) working for feck all looking at it, half the time we couldn't be bothered, said it was fine, sent it off. Other companies buy it, sell it as refurbished or whatever....
No one is going to care about a bit of glue, especially since they glue it themselves, just don't use any glue that's going to dissolve the plastic.

Very informative thread, thanks to everyone who's contributed. Been on the lookout for a new TV for a while but had no idea what to go for. Seems like this is one of the best options available so will keep an eye out for deals where it might be a similar price from RS or JL

You won't get it for 1080p unless you can find that LG OLED 1080p TV for under £1000. However I dunno why you wouldn't go 4K when you're spending this much...
£999 with richer sounds and 6 years warrant, RS all the way for me.

17 Nov 16#49
I considered that but then you've permanently stuck it on if anything else goes wrong and the retailer could probably argue that you've invalidated your warranty

I popped into Currys to check on the models they had there and both the 7000 and 8000 had rear bottom corners coming away. On mine the side came away, I've tried to show in the pic, engineer said only way to fix is apparently rip it all off and replace. Apparently this would likely damage the logic board (or whatever it's called) which would need replacing too. Other than that i had no issues with the TV and quite liked it.

It's only a plastic bac panel that comes loose at the top and you cannot see it. Just the glue due to the heat, just get some super glue and sorted.

17 Nov 16#46
I have read about the glue coming out on the KS7000s in some people's models...haven't heard the same for the 8000s. I know it's different materials on the back but if it's glued the risk still exists. That's why I'd be unlikely to buy this TV from anyone other than JL or Richer Sounds...the guarantee is worth the small saving you'd get from somewhere else.

can anyone recommend a sound bar to go with this tv ? Would it be best to have a matching Samsung one ?

The Sonos Playbar gets fantastic reviews everywhere and connects with an optical cable and is compatable with this TV. It's currently £599 but I'm hoping it gets discounted somewhere on BF fingers crossed!

I was being an idiot and thinking about the UE55JU7000 i had the year prior, my bad. The rear panel issues are definitely this TV though, JL's swapped mine out for a Sony 55XD9305 after having some rear panel issues based on other customer reports. Long day in the office....

So how did you verify over the product specifications? I'd be interested to know how you worked it out anecdotally...
Parfy
17 Nov 16#42
This model (and the 8000 to a lesser extent) suffer from the rear panel coming loose at is is stuck on rather than screwed. Samsung went for a 360 design philosophy and whilst the back of the TV looks nice it doesn't always stay where it's supposed to (instances of this reported on AVForums).

Only for you, it's all standard brackets and you simply put it back on the original stand to return it. That beind said returning anything to Curry's is both akward and infuriating and it probably would be a pain as they always make you wait the maximum period before doing anything about the problem just to make the fact they sold you a broken product even more annoying.

17 Nov 16#35
weird just had a email from richer sounds , they have a 7000 and 8000 models and the 8000 is a lot more expensive so how could it be the us equivalent as mentioned above
slannmage to REDBULL2K7
17 Nov 16#36
I linked the 49 inch 7000, they also reviewed the curved 7500b55 inch... they're all pretty much the same.
The 8000 is practically the same tv but on a new stand and with worse colour calibration out the box.
This is from people who don't bother to put the TV in a proper mode or set it up correctly, the TV is great for motion, in fact it's one of the best for the money..... set 'Auto Motion Plus' to 'Custom' and both sliders to 0. Also it's probably best not to have it in Movie mode as it's always the highest latency mode since it doesn't matter for movies, put it into a Game or Sport mode or possibly even leave it in Standard.
