Been wanting this for a while. Great price, but annoyingly the reviews on John Lewis seem to say it suffers from judder whilst other reviews say its fine.

Anyone got this who can comment? :/

Hmm. Some reviews seem to say it doesnt help BUT only on JL. If I purchase, and I'm not happy with it, I can still return it within 14 days right or is there some weird rules with TV's?
AcidJiles
25 Nov 16 1 #7
I would call JL or Richer and ask. Buy from whichever gives you the better answer.

Plus rtings.com a reputable review site from the states (KS8000 in US is KS7000 here) says no judder http://uk.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ks8000

Best place to get this TV is from Hughes. Just got the 55inch for £799. The normal price is £899, but they doing an offer where you can trade in any 32inch (or above)flat screen tv, as long as it turns on, has remote control and stand. The 49inch is priced at £799 but again you can get £100 trade in for old set, so £699. This does come with only 1 year warranty but for 10 payments of £10, you can get a 5 year warranty too. Cheapest way to get this brilliant tv.
bauk
25 Nov 16 1 #49
JL price match is a joke! There is always some kind of excuse or they don't get back to you until the original deal is OOS which gives them the right to say there is no stock so they can't honour it. Never knowingly undersold, more like bury their heads in the sand until the offer is gone!
utopiangames
25 Nov 16 #50
In the same boat but you can buy a stand for £40, I'm after the 55" and understand I need a 112cm unit so no good for me, not sure about the 49" you might be ok.

Yes Currys is 5 yr warranty and I'm hoping TCB pay out as I've just ordered it via this route ! I also hope that by paying with a discounted egiftcard (6.5%) bought from Edenred won't stop the cashback from being honoured. Picking up tomorrow from store

I simply cannot complete the purchase! Tried debit card and paypal and it is simply not accepted. Called bank and they told me my card is 100% unblocked and they dont see any issues on their end. Maybe currys is rejecting the transaction in the end by some reason?

Orville
25 Nov 16 #63
With tops it is £60 cheaper at Currys. Sure Currys CS is pants, but the chances of the TV going wrong are very low and both stores provide the same 5-year warranty period. If prices were the same I would choose JL every day, otherwise I prefer to save the money.
Orville
25 Nov 16 #64

I got the 55" today from Hughes for £799. Normal price is £899 but you can get another £100 off by trading in an old tv. Must be 32" or above, flat screen (lcd), must turn on and have remote and pedestal stand.

Crampton & Moore have matched - however if you want the

Samsung UBDK8500 HDR 4 K Blu Ray Player - they have it at 149 rather than 179 at Currys
Samsung HWK650 is 239 rather than 349 at Currys (prepay & delivery to store)

However Currys say they will price match.but as it is part delivery and part collect at store, I am not sure how that would work.

But £1186 is much better than £1447

Orville
27 Nov 16 1 #115
Whether you can spot the resolution difference depends upon viewing distance and the eyes of the beholder. Far more important than resolution are dynamic range, contrast, brightness and blacks, all of which this TV is rated excellent at. "4K" is the marketing headliner, but there are many improvements within this TV over previous years models. It is as good a TV as £800 can buy at the moment.

WhoThrowsAShoe

It hasn't yet, I'll give it another few days then try to raise it manually. Worst case scenario is it will have cost £750, but to be honest I'm so impressed with it I won't lose any sleep. I'm using it exclusively for PS4 Pro (Battlefield 1) but did put the LG "chess" demo vid on it last night and was blown away, seriously good picture quality.
WhoThrowsAShoe

Just had a look at this TV in Currys... was not impressed? the back was coming away from the tv, A very common fault (from a guy that knows) sure lots will be going back  I expected to go "WOW" But no way, think everyone is driving them self mad over this TV? Very poor build quality  very plasticity look and feel. do not believe all the hype folks. Thats my opinion anyway. nothing personal
Orville
29 Nov 16 #127
The back comes away on some sets because they use a small ammount of sealend and double-sided sticky-tape to hold it in place. If the TV is on all day within a warm environment (a typical electronics superstore) then it is more likely to happen. At least it does not stop the TV from working, and it can be easily fixed.
plumberman56
29 Nov 16 #128
Sorry but the build quality is pants.. had a good look at the tv's build quality and I'll pass on this product. Surely Samsung can't be for real fitting the back of the tv with double sided tape. It's a joke.

You sure will be carrying it around... "back to the store you purchased it from" if it doesn't fall apart by the time you get there? Just being honest.
Biggunspaul
30 Nov 16 #131
No because if you buy it from John Lewis they will come and collect it from your home and replace it with a new one.

Do you always buy TV's that feel nice in the hand ?

Got to say it but your reason for not liking the TV is one of the oddest reasons I've come across before, the back coming off I can understand to an extent but like I said that's what a free 5 warranty is for, maybe if you only had 12 months it would be more of a concern.

Personally I buy a TV for the picture quality as the number 1 reason to buy or not to buy, maybe you are sitting on the wrong side of the TV to be so hung up what the back end of it is doing.
plumberman56

Was I stupid spending 525 for the ku6400 instead of buying this for my ps4 pro?
Orville
1 Dec 16 #138
You certainly were not stupid. The ku6400 may not match the ks series on spec and performance, but it is very good set for the price. You can always spend a bit more to get a bit better. The trick is finding the best option at your given price point. Both of these are great for their price.

I got one of these and I cannot manage to tune any TV channels either with my pre existing satellite connection on coaxial cable or with a new aerial. When I try going to self diagnosis -> signal information it says "this function isn't available". Why the hell?? Anyone knows how to proceed?
Orville
14 Dec 16 #141
Could be a faulty set. Try a full reset by entering Settings > System > Start Setup menu. Make sure your aerial is connected beforehand. If this does not work then you'll need to have Curry's replace it.
