Seem to be a Currys/pc world only version of r1 360's. Can't find any details on the Samsung site. If anyone knows anything about these please let me know

I have two R1s that I use to boost a HW650 soundbar. The are perfect for that and can get plenty loud. They cost me around £100 a piece back in the day so this is a good price

can u use these with out soundbar ?

You can set the independent volume levels through the TV or app. Once the surround sound is set up increasing the volume increases everything (soundbar and surrounds). Similarly increasing the sound on the surrounds increases the soundbar volume as well. it can be bass/soundbar heavy but it tweakable if you fiddle with it. It's about £350 - not £1,350 - so for the price it beats the crap out of tv speakers

The initial setup was a little too front weighted but the +/- 6 you read about (which is for balance only, vol is separate and is fine) is enough to deal with that. Definitely sounds better than the soundbar alone but it's not a patch on my proper system (yamaha 3067 with mission audio 7.1). Not a fair comparison by a looooong way, but for the price I'm happy.

That's exactly my setup and they work fine with the android app. PC app was a bit ropey sop I stopped using it (kept losing a speaker). You find the speakers using the app, group them with the sound bar then an option for surround setup appears in the groups menu. Drag the relevant speakers to rl/rr and then change to d.in on the soundbar and you're good to go. Can confirm they are working properly as surrounds. I used a test video which sent a signal to each one individually. Soundbar provides fl/centre/fr with r lites as surrounds rl/rr. Subwoofer is the .1 obviously!

thanks for the reply! Sa some comments that they are limited to only +- 6 volume and are overpowered by the sound bar. DO you find the surround to be worth the purchase?

Well, I think they are good but I've never had any other type of network speaker before, so nothing to compare them too.
I like the way you can play separate tracks to each speaker or set up 'Groups' of speakers and also connect them to compatible Samsung TVs of which I have 4 around the house.
The Samsung multiroom app is pretty good and although it can stream the music from my phone, Spotify, Deezer, TuneIn etc, the downside is that its unable play from my NAS.
EDIT: I've just discovered I can play form my NAS (ReadyNAS).
Just noticed my NAS listed to the right of the baked-in streaming services. YEY, happy days!!

Any one got experience of using these as rears with a soundbar? Have the HW-J6500 but reading conflicting reviews online about these only outputting stereo and not surround sound when paired

I purchased four of the proper 'Samsung R1 360' for under £100 each over the last month from a vendor that is banned on HUKD, so I'd better not mention them.
I did try posting the deal twice, but it got removed.......twice.:disappointed:
In fact the first order of 2 x Samsung R1 360 (WAM1500) = £188.00 + £9.30 delivery.
My second order of 2 x Samsung R1 360 (WAM1500) was £135.93 + £9.30 delivery
Admitedly there was a club discount code applied to the second order as well as a mystery discount, which I knew nothing about and assume was a random glitch (I wasn't asking any questions).
Maybe 7% Quidco too.
So basically 4 speakers for £343 (including delivery) and potentially 24 months of Deezer (which normally costs £10 per month).
The Deezer will have to be split over 2 accounts @ 12 months however as I think you can only use two codes per Deezer account. :disappointed:

I had my hdmi cables chased into the wall for wall mounting and last thing I need now is getting a soundbar which will need a power source chasing in . a lot of hassle now that we decorated.

aw ok. Only thing was buy two of these plus a soundbar will cost cough £350 are there any other better solution that would be better value to add to the tv to give surround with my tv.
ronaldmacdonald to satty83

Depends if you want wireless and separate systems. £350 is peanuts for the level of performance you will get over standard tv speakers

thinking of getting two of these to use for surround sound with my Samsung ue55ks7000 I was told I can link the tv via Bluetooth for this however will I still need a a sound bar if so can anyone recommend one which will work well with these.
ronaldmacdonald to satty83
20 Nov 16#25
You can link to the TV directly. I would get a soundbar though purely for the better sound than the tv speakers. I got the HW650 for just over £100 sheets on fleabay (ex demo).dont need to spend a fortune

Not sure if they would work as surrounds without a compatible sound bar. In the multi room app to get into surround setup i had to group the speakers to my soundbar. I could be wrong as I don't have the latest Samsung tv but I think linking these to the tv would just give you 2.0 sound with the speakers being l/r as opposed to rears. Hope that makes sense!

Get a Samsung level box for around £30 if it's just for occasional streaming, but major plus is you can use it like the Amazon echo, but you need to press the button to activate, can also act as a speaker for your mobile calling out whatever notifications you want using the Samsung Level app.

would not bother as I bought 2 r1s from currys because of the free deezer worth £120 as my membership had just run out,(and an extra bundle offer of another £100 off)so effectively these 2 speakers cost me £80 and speaking from someone who has over twenty speakers ranging from sonos,bose,x2 aiwa exos 9s etc(these are crap, don't bother get x2 sonos play 1s instead TRUST ME)i have got these as a stero pair in my bedroom as they won't be used much.
mabenson to leobella
19 Nov 16#21
That's a good point. These speakers are not eligible for the deezer offer. If you want these for streaming then go for the bundle on r1s deal. For me they are surrounds for my soundbar and I have amazon prime music which I'm happy with so am happy with the cheaper price.

I believe you can have multiple speakers linked to the same source such as your mobile phone. They can all be linked together so you can have the same music playing in different rooms.

Well that monkey was well trained and had it spot on.
Only difference is the colour graphite grey instead of black.
The RLite also does not qualify for the 6 months of Deezer Premium that the R1 gets.

Went to Currys and they had a Samsung specialist in so I asked what the difference is between the r lite and r1. His answer, 'slightly different plastic' and that's it. Apart from that they are identical. So definitely a deal!

Currys/ pc world are selling the r1 360's too. There's already a post on it due to incorrect discount being applied in the bundle. These have a different name which isn't on the Samsung, Amazon or any other site I can find. If they are the same it's a deal. If they're a cut down version then, meh.
