If you have delivery saver is £18.99 delivered @ Tesco (you can take out a free 1 month trial and cancel). Also free click and collect to store.
Oh btw Amazon is now £18.99 as price matched Tesco, driven from Tesco price matching Argos and beating them by 5%
Not much I think. It's pretty good if you don't have a computer, or tablet, it's a way of turning your TV into a smart TV so you can watch Netflix, youtube, iplayer, etc. on your TV.

Does this do what a chromecast does but without the tablet?
gordo1964
19 Nov 161#44
The Chromecast cast the content of your mobile phone/tablet onto the screen and uses the mobile/tablet to control the content. The Roku is like a now tv box. I think thr nowtv boxes are basic roku boxes with some of the functionality removed - if you watch netflix, nowtv, amazon prime video, wuaki, google play then you can watch them all through the roku. I use a roku 3 for my main televison as you can plug your headphones into the remote and not disturb the rest of the house.
shatteredneon
19 Nov 162#45
If you already have a Now TV box, this is pretty much the same except it has the Amazon Prime app. For me Roku beats most other streaming boxes because it has Netflix, Now Tv and Amazon Prime.

19 Nov 161#49
Heated for the price, though you have to be ready to accept that these won't be as fast as modern boxes as the basic design (CPU etc) is based on the old Roku LT design of 2013, think these are about as fast as a first gen 2013 Now TV box, though they do let you watch Netflix and Amazon at least....

Sort of, you install an app on your phone/tablet called TV Cast, this 'just works' for any non-DRM content you can find on the Web. Separately you can cast all Youtube content via the Youtube app.

Does this Roku Streaming Stick, definitely support support the Amazon Instant Video app on Roku?
When I went to the Roku website to have a look, before I buy, it said it is not supported in this region
I am an avid Now TV user, and have two of these boxes, but also pay for Amazon Prime, so if this Roku Stick can do it all in one device, will definitely consider it.

Only 1080p, I already have 4k amazon, 4k nvidia sheild tv, 4k xbox one s, 4k Android technology box and will buy 4k chromecast when it is released. Not buying old obsolete low resolution products like this obe. You can always watch 1080p in 4k box but not vice versa.
Martyn334

Depends on its use, for £19 its not a bad stocking filler for people, even if its just so they can watch Netflix / Amazon
sam_of_london
20 Nov 16#63
I hate these sticks, need very good WiFi to work as no wired lan port , continuous buffering due to low memory and in general poor quality and frustrating experiences . Better spend more money than waste 18.99. I am sure Roku has a 4k player and when 4l chromecast comes, there will be similar deals.

My Sony TV recently stopped supporting iPlayer and never supported Netflix, so bought this. it's brilliant ... no lag, pic quality is fantastic, really easy to use. I power it from spare USB on TV, so its not left powered up permanently.

Ironically, their own page which should allow you to resubscribe is broken https://support.roku.com/en-gb/article/208757168-how-do-i-unsubscribe-from-roku-newsletters-and-other-mailings-
They said they'd look into it. Oddly, I haven't had a single email from them - not even a "Thank you for opening a Roku account". I wonder if they're having problems with their system

I've just come off Roku on-line chat as I hadn't received my code. I was told that it had been escalated to their 'Concern' team! I've just taken another look at this promotions wording and it says:
"Create a Wuaki account and choose from hundreds of titles. The code can be used on up to 3 HD movie purchases. Redeem by 31 March 2017"
From your experience that doesn't seem to be what you end up with! I'm sure there must be some false advertising going on here? I doubt there are many people still looking at this thread but if anyone happens to have received a code from Roku and used it are you able to give a rough idea on the number of films you were able to select from and whether there is a particular link to those films given when you received your code?
[As there are a couple of similar HUKD posts on this Roku offer I'll put this question on those threads so apologies for repeating myself!]

Hi, Thanks for posting that list of films, that was really useful. I finally got my code today after nagging them 4 times via their on-line chat!
