this may seem like a stupid question but i know nothing about these things, do you pay a subscription to access all the extra channels or are they included free? woukd something like this be worthwhile for a four year old i.e extra kids channels? Thanks
Yes, LOADS of free Channels are on this as standard!.
Apart from your BBC 'License fee', all the Terrestrial Channels including BBC iPlayer would be on it as standard, as will You Tube App, TED TV, Catch Up TV, 4OD, etc, etc?.
Plus a few freebie try before you buy Channels/App's too, like Netflix, Disney Life, Amazon Prime Video, NOW TV (be it their Entertainment Pass, and/or their Movie/Cinema Pass, and what have you's?), and shed loads more App Stations/Channels besides ....
Your kid/kids will be more than just aptly entertained. :-)

Pants, I think I should have bought one of these instead of the Fire stick which I got for Amazon Prime TV. Seems like this Roku does that AND Nowtv which would have been better.

I bought it this week via an earlier post. Very happy indeed as I only watch catch up tv occasionally. I haven't watched live TV for 2 years and don't miss it either, licence money saved nearly £300 :sunglasses:

Can you side load apps on this like the fire stick?

Definitely 17.99 on amazon. Looks to be a code that is sent to you when you register the stick to get free rentals. Is this gadget reliable for casting photos etc to from a tablet? Tempted but had bad experience with Chromecast....

Argos only 4 free movies I think ask amazon or Tesco

Be very careful on the "3 movie deal". it's selected movies (not a great selection and certainly not "hundreds" of titles) Also I haven't had the code yet, similar to others, so don't count your chickens. It's a poor offer.

Not possible I believe.

As far as I'm aware, only an Amazon Fire is capable of allowing itself to be sideloaded with KODI?.

But via the ROKU's Developer Mode' (as per the NOW TV Boxes that spun off of the original ROKU Boxes, etc), you can PLEX these?, and in doing so, it would be possible to do things with it like making it an IPTV! (where via a NAS System of sorts, your then able to endlessly stream your OWN 'Media' to this, so via it, eg. your ROKU/PLEX/NAS System 'Set-Up', etc, your then able to watch ..... lol).

Plex is a standard Roku app - no need to sideload....

My bad!, I mind was via the way of the NOW TV Boxes 'restrictions', etc? (I've got load's of NOW TV Boxes lying about, but never had a ROKU Stick before ..... ) :-)

A few have said similar on other threads a few days back etc, but some ALSO said that, but that being said, some also commented upon the fact that they done there's more than 1 week ago (eg. a few day's shy of 2 weeks), then got their respective Codes last week too, etc?.
See what happens?.
That aside, there may be a few random FREE NOW TV Codes that may also come your way for Entertainment Pass, and/or Movie/Cinema Pass, etc via your ROKU Stick and the like ..... :-)
Frustrated it has been over a week and now promotional code for the free films.
There does not seem to be an easy way to contact them. Anyone got an email address or phone number?

Same issue, I contacted them via the online chat and they provided me with a code. Frustrating that it wasn't automatically sent though, I have now brought and registered a second device....and same issue again so I will contact them again today to obtain my second code. It's a poor choice of movies though, but I was going to buy them even without the free movies, so no dramas.
