this is about half what I paid for it.
be aware that only the digital version ( more expensive) cuts off at the desired pressure.
this one works fine though & is at an excellent price , almost tempted myself.

works well and for £10 its better than anything else. don't rely on the pressure gauge. use a manual pen type or something accurate. but it does the job.

ANALOGUE? How can a compressor, which in its basic form uses a piston or motor to squeeze air through one way valves be anything other than analog....
Or does it only compress "Analogue Air" and won't compress "Digital Air"...
Analog or Digital display maybe, Digital controls to make preset pressure seleciton and control easier, I can understand , but the "analogue" or "digital" side has nothing to do with the way it actually does its work, marketing department obviously had a few buzzwords left over when deciding what to call these...

If you want to get technical you can get digital motors, digital valves and digitally controlled pistons.. :smiley:
Or reversal, electricity is only 'digital' because we round the numbers of electrons knocking into each other, technically you could call this fluid/analogue..
Binary coding is only a switch where we set the limitations, these are and can be fluid/changing or 'non existant' (quantium)..

I think I paid about £18 for the digital one....I think it's worth it, as you set the pressure and it will turn itself off once desired pressure has been reached

Hi Dobbus, Tesco have the latest digital one of these with the round display for £25. I believe it is the RAC635. It's been out of stock for a long time but now back in stock. It's a big more powerful than the previous digital one ring did (RAC630) with the rectangular display with the three buttons underneath it.
I bought the RAC630 rebranded for Aldi about 2 or 3 weeks ago as a present for someone. Went for that one because it comes with a three year warranty. I think Lidl also do these at a couple of points during the year like Aldi. Anyway, aldi one was £15 or £16.
Amazon will probably do the RAC635 at £19.99 on Black Friday like last year

Thanks that's really helpful. I was looking at the ring ones on amazon. I'll likely bite on the current RAC600 for £19.99 as it seems only the speed and cord length are different to the 635. Really appreciate your input.

Digital motors are, generally, digitally controlled analogue motors. Digital valves tend to be made up of an array of digitally controlled analogue valves. Of course, if the motors or valves were operated by your finger....................

I've got one of these but the only problem i have is thay as soon as I start undoing the nozzle from the tyre valve air comes air starts escaping which brings the desired air pressure down again. I prefer nozzle with a latch which locks and unlocks.

I have one of these - as per the last comment - the nozzle lets some air out when putting it on and off, not great but ok...
I took mine to Mongolia and back - got a lot of use with over 10 wheel changes... still working now :smiley:

I've had three different Ring products and they all broke very quickly, they are definitely right at the bottom end and I have little intention of ever buying their stuff again.
But the reviews for this one seem unusually good, so maybe worth an exception.
My point was the term "digital" is to define it or assign it to a number so it can be manipulated or repeated with better accuracy/precision using units of measure.
Where it be for performance or efficiency, repeatability means that it can be predicted and forecasted instead of using guess work/experience alone.
That being said; 'analogue motors' are made using digital parts, ie machine milled or pressed, uses electricity and electrically controlled systems. Output of the system has been quantified and tested digitally for safety and performance.
Far do you want to go calling it an 'analogue' device..? :smiley:

Very very fiddly. The bit about the not cutting off when the desired pressure is reached means I am never sure if too much air has come off the tyre when I remove the pipe. Put in some more money and go for the other one.

Oh dear. I could create a never ending list of things that at some point in their creation are touched by a digital process, but that wouldn't make the end item digital. A Mars bar would be a prime example. But have you ever seen a digital Mars bar?
Electric motors can be controlled by analogue or digital control systems.
In the case of the pump, it's driven by a single speed 12v DC motor. The only 'digital' element (apart from your fingers) is the display.
The use of 'digital' is a marketing ploy that waves two digits at naïve and/or ignorant consumers.
All these types of compressors usually have in the instructions small print you are only supposed to run them for so many minutes at a time continuously , then give them a rest or you will burn the motor out.

Or just pay 50p a time. Or even £1. For the number of times you need to do it versus how long any low-grade electric device will work you're probably better off without unless you properly invest.

And as I said, the motor could be a digital motor which can provide pwm to the motor for high efficiency /power etc (eg Dyson motors).
I don't see what the problem is with calling something digital when it has some element of it being digitised to create higher efficiency/performance.
Perhaps your issue is that it may not be high performance/accuracy just because it's digital (due to quality controls or materials). which is a different argument all together...

always check prices on toolstation though as they are generally cheaper with better customer service as well
