I convert mine to MP4. I haven't really tried anymore. I think the version I am using is 1.7 but I haven't read that page in a week so maybe there is a newer version but 1.7 is still working fine for me.

Yes, bit slow but surprisingly much less issues than the built-in YouTube and iPlayer apps, in my experience.

for less then 4x the price you can have 6m entertainment pass or 4m movies. And a new box (which you can sell if not needed). Little reason to buy the cheaper refurb old version with short pass.
