Not a chance.
Amazon price matched this from Tesco a few weeks ago, the one in my order history dropped from £349 to £332 without me doing anything - LOVE their price guarantee.
Also Amazon are now offering anyone who preordered the Ps4 pro console a couple of game bundle deals. They offered Dishonored2 for PS4 for just £20 (pretty sweet deal if you ask me) and also COD Infinite Warfare Standard edition for £42, however after a quick chat with a non-gaming-savvy representative, he agreed to give me the Legacy edition (with MW remastered) for £42 also

The PS4 Slim is already less than that at £230 with two physical games and three months NowTV!
The Pro is not getting glowing reviews from major media and the results are said to be widely controversial. All depends what screen you have and according to Digital Foundry the results are only impressive on top of the line TVs worth thousands...
I would bet the sales numbers will drop after the hardcore gamers get their preorders and come Christmas or even Black Friday we will see bundles with multiple games for around £300. Only time will tell though

Apparently it is not true 4K or not "native 4K" which is annoying. It also doen't have a "Ultra HD BLU RAY" drive which is disappointing. 8 Nov 161#69
Is it just me or is this actually a pretty pointless console?
The way I read it, it's supposedly offering 4k gaming, yet there's no 4k drive, so surely it'll only achieve '4k gaming' by upscaling... except very few games are likely to support that at the moment... and even if they do support it then the benefits of this console will only be seen offline... as if your playing online it'll have to dumb everything down so that it runs smoothly with the older model PS4's (that most other online players will be using).
It appears to me that the original PS4 just wasn't powerful enough, so Sony have chosen to release a more powerful console that is still short of being what it should be, I mean, no 4k drive, so no true 4k games or movies unless you want to buy everything digitally, which is a very risky thing to do where Sony are concerned, not only because their prices are always really high compared to retailers but if your PSN account gets compromised or banned (through no fault of your own), then you are left with nothing.

8 Nov 161#72
I agree in some way, I don't see the point of a new console that is limited by the old, but then again the PS4 has 50 million users so a new console using the old architecture and platform is going to be limited in some way, like you say with online play. It won't be any worse than a standard PS4 but then again it won't be any better either.
I've a 2016 4k OLED TV with HDR, cost a decent amount BUT it doesn't have a 4k player. I'm digital for games and mainly media (Home Server plus 4k Netflix via TV) but I do want a machine capable of playing the best content via disc, this 'Pro' is a halfway house. I'd have paid £399 for a PS4 Pro with a 4k enabled drive.
Time will tell but right now your buying in to an idea where as a standard slim PS4 is fully established user-base, supported by all developers, same online play as PS4 Pro and still has HDR.
Mine arrives Thursday.....
titchyyyyy
8 Nov 161#73
Been a Sony fan for a long time now, got multiple PS4's. I just can't seem to get excited for this console.
Gutted really.
EpicRickyC
8 Nov 16#74
You don't need a 4k drive to play 4k games. The drive was only to play 4k movies. Any game can play at any resolution regardless of the drive as long as the console can pump it out and you have enough space on the disc to fit in the nice 4k textures, which a standard blu-ray is fine for.
The benefits will be gained online too. The pro version will have to run at the same frame rate, I assume, but you can still play at a higher resolution, or at the same resolution but with added effects. I mean if they chose to patch the game for the pro. Otherwise it would be identical.
It's probably not worth upgrading your basic ps4 for, but for people without I can see them going for the pro.

I'm half-tempted to trade my launch PS4 in and get a PS Pro. Anyone else take up the offer on Shopto or similar? I've just bought a new 4ktv but it's hardly top of the line. Was like £700 so presumably hasn't got 10-bit HDR, which I hear is the thing to have. Hmm, not sure...

MyPetFrog
8 Nov 161#125
Not true. Take a closer look at many of the already patched games with their choice of either significant graphical improvements or increased frame rates (or both). Check out Digital Foundry's YouTube channel, it'll take you through the great options in the likes of Tomb Raider, COD, BF, Ratchet n Clank, Titanfall2 etc. (all in 1080p btw, I'm not talking about 4K even)
Not to mention the improved graphical quality of PSVR (still to be announced in more detail but anecdotally on Reddit etc people are pleasantly surprised already).
freeman76
8 Nov 16#126
Most of the respectable sources have said unless you have 4k its not a huge difference and largely unessential at the moment. Despite what you say the only game to take proper advantage of the PRO for 1080p owners is tomb raider. Before posting info you should research more, there are plenty of resources available now, and high quality video analysis all which show for 1080 owners there is very little difference at the moment. Give it 6 months and we will know more once devs start making the most of the tech (if they do)
MyPetFrog
8 Nov 162#127
Google for the NeoGaf article on how good Titanfall2 looks in 1080p on the PS4, I reckon you'll be rather surprised! COD MW remastered too also looks great, and the Infamous titles. There's way more than just Tomb Raider just now, and patches will come thick and fast each week  Personally, can't wait  The most respectable for me is Digital Foundry, they were pretty positive on the 1080p performance.
slannmage
8 Nov 16#128
Smoother framerate, but if a developer chooses 30FPS on the PS4, they have to stick to 30 on the Pro.
Well I want all my games to be 60, I don't want to be forced to 30, it's the whole reason of wanting a more powerful system.
So I'll just stick to PC only.

Isn't that only when it comes to multiplayer? so that those on the Pro don't get an advantage over those playing on the PS4 but they have already patch Rise of the Tomb Raider so it can run at a higher fps.

8 Nov 16#131
Why would new games come out using 30fps now?

Personally I'm doing it on day 1. Reasoning is, the upgrade is an inevitability.... I have the drive, so at some point I'll need to do it and as time passes those 4k/1080p 60fps updates will be reasonably sized patches. I have around 80GB free on a 1TB console so a few updates and a full size digital purchase and it will be full.

Ive just backed up my ps4 to an external hard drive (350GB only took 2 hours), I think I'm gonna put my old 2TB drive in and do it straight away. Hopefully it'll be done in 2 hours.

I've heard that backing up to a USB 3.0 drive is significantly faster than the transferring directly between consoles via ethernet cable so you have probably gone with the right option.

I have already read up about that, but what I need to do is -
1. copy PS4 to external backup.
2. remove 2GB drive from PS4
3. remove 1GB drive from Pro and install 2GB drive from PS4
4. install 1GB drive to PS4
5. restore backup to PS4
6. copy PS4 to Pro
So it may be easier/quicker to just get another 2GB hard drive and leave my old PS4 as it is - but I'll probably take a hit on the old 2GB drive if I sell the console on ...

First off i think you mean to say TB not GB,
Secondly after step 1 i think you will need to visit the PlayStation website to get the latest version of the system software

HDR, whilst very impressive, is still in its infancy. All screens with HDR on them that are currently available have made some sort of compromise, ESPECIALLY if you're an avid gamer. You won't be losing out big time without HDR at the moment as you'll still enjoy the 4k (or upscaling) benefits the Pro will bring. Perhaps think about upgrading to an HDR TV in a couple of years when the price has come down a bit and they're more refined.

Collected this morning, had it sat next to me for a few hours all boxed up, it's huge! Kind of regretting/buyers remorse as my 1TB Ltd. Edition Star Wars Console has nothing wrong with it

I sold my metal gear PS4 for £255 to upgrade to this. Did really like the colour of it too. My PRO is currently sat in its John Lewis bag too in the front room..I hope it doesn't stay in there permanently!

Sold it on eBay the day I had a offer of £1 listing. I think I sold it around the time the Pro and slim just got announced. I thought I was lucky myself when i saw the auction make that much! Listing below just to prove I'm not blagging!
Ahh that explains it! I've kept mine and at the moment and trying to sell is impossible, so many great deals on Slims and now the Pro. Thought about keeping it (the Star Wars one) but it is excessive having 2 PS4's, one for VR and the other for 4k and a PS3, might as well have just built myself a rig. Still haven't opened the Pro yet so 89 days left to return it!

Good deal considering the 2 year warranty. Really tempting but I'm forcing myself to wait for Black Friday in hope of a bundle with a couple of games for sub £350

Good deal....excellent service by JL...picked up release day from local store. Canceled my amazon order before release but was still able to use the £20 discount code they sent for Dishonoured 2 and then took it in to CEX and got £32 cash for it, as didnt want the game. Works out £320 and 2 years warranty for release day Pro....not greatest deal in the world but without staff discounts etc, seems the best price I could find...and traded another 4 "old" games in at cex while I was there for Rise of the Tomb raider, to see what the pro can do with a new release with the extra graphic options....Thanks for the thread OP!

Amazon price matched this from Tesco a few weeks ago, the one in my order history dropped from £349 to £332 without me doing anything - LOVE their price guarantee.
Also Amazon are now offering anyone who preordered the Ps4 pro console a couple of game bundle deals. They offered Dishonored2 for PS4 for just £20 (pretty sweet deal if you ask me) and also COD Infinite Warfare Standard edition for £42, however after a quick chat with a non-gaming-savvy representative, he agreed to give me the Legacy edition (with MW remastered) for £42 also
The Slim version... Maybe.
One game would be nice for the 10th! :sunglasses:
Tesco have had mine ready for dispatch for about 4 days now, so hoping they are OK for release date delivery...
Except not.
Even at this reduced price you would need a 26.4% discount, very unlikely?
The Pro is not getting glowing reviews from major media and the results are said to be widely controversial. All depends what screen you have and according to Digital Foundry the results are only impressive on top of the line TVs worth thousands...
I would bet the sales numbers will drop after the hardcore gamers get their preorders and come Christmas or even Black Friday we will see bundles with multiple games for around £300. Only time will tell though
I want to be that kid outside of that shop, like Mr Bean was outside Harrods on Christmas day.
£259.99 plus a game once the fanboys have all got one.
Oddly enough, I too have considered putting the money into a PC rather than this.

Gutted really.
Either way it still doesn't work out with the price the person said they got it for, obviously later they confirmed they were a Tesco employee and not a John Lewis one.
What is your point?

Waitrose collection thursday
Well it seemed silly not to - after all I did have a JL gift card with £2.35 left on it ...
Not to mention the improved graphical quality of PSVR (still to be announced in more detail but anecdotally on Reddit etc people are pleasantly surprised already).
Well I want all my games to be 60, I don't want to be forced to 30, it's the whole reason of wanting a more powerful system.
So I'll just stick to PC only.
I don't think mentioning you own a PC has anything to do with this either. I do, its a monster, but its not the same as using a console for most people.
Any help from anybody will be much appreciated as i cant make my mind up :disappointed:
1. copy PS4 to external backup.
2. remove 2GB drive from PS4
3. remove 1GB drive from Pro and install 2GB drive from PS4
4. install 1GB drive to PS4

6. copy PS4 to Pro
