As a Kinect owner, I can honestly say it's not worth it. Microsoft are clearly phasing it out which is a shame as it's quite a cool bit of tech. The only thing I really use mine for is logging in...

Sorry, Should of been clearer, I don't have Sky set up to run through the Xbox, it's connected to the TV separately. Thing is, it's so easy to use Kinect to control media, that I fall in to using it, even when the device I'm using doesn't have it, once or twice in the past it's taken me quite a while to realise why it isn't working.
Using 'Cortana' instead of 'Xbox' wouldn't work for me when I am using the Xbox, as I've chosen not to switch it over.

Upgraded to the Xbox 1 S recently, was horrible not being able to control it with the Kinect, surprising how quickly you come to rely on certain tech.
Luckily, as stated above, MS provide free adaptors and they're delivered pretty quickly.
(Still doesn't help when I pause something on sky and can't understand why saying 'Xbox Play' doesn't work!)

Not without the adaptor no... free if you owned an xbox one and upgraded to the S (need to put call in with MS to get it) - otherwise costs around £30
If you had an original Xbox One and registered a Kinect with it then you may be able to get one free. Of course, you have to hope that the pre-owned Kinect you buy hasn't already been registered
Nice. have some heat. just wish the pc adaptor wasn't another £45 on top.

All this hate on the kinect, do people know how to use it? Apart from the TV control which is handy as with kids the remote could be anywhere...my kids love Just Dance the latest version was released the other day. Not sure where all this talk of not being supported comes from. Also use on windows 10 Do a 3d scan of yourself and then use in a game 3d project or print yourself on a 3d printer! Gotta be loving that.....dead tech lol nothing else can touch it for 25 quid the tech is insanely cheap....

The VR headsets Microsoft have shown for Windows 10 use internal hardware rather than external sensors, so no, not necessarily.

Good price. Kinect for the Xbox One was almost viable technology. A significant improvement on performance compared to the 360 version. A shame it is not more supported.

If Scorpio is anything like the new Xbox one S then there is no longer a dedicated port to plug the kinect into and an adapter needs to be used to use it via USB iirc

Windows 10 compatible VR sets should work with Xbox One, VR and Kinect? Worth getting at this price.
Try Battlefield 4 with it turned on, peeking around corners means you have to.

Uses I have for my kinect:
. Xbox On, Xbox Turn Off, Xbox Pause, Xbox Play, Xbox go to Netflix etc.
. IR receiver/blaster (included in Xbox One S now I believe).
. Playing FRU, never laughed so hard watching my partner play!
I bought it for a similar price from CeX a few years back (traded in The Evil Within I got with my Xbox from some price error at Tesco, thanks HUKD). For me it's been worth every penny.

Nearly down to the price shortly after launch again. Shortly after the console launched these were available in CEX among other places for £20 (link), then Microsoft decided to announce they were going to sell the console without Kinect bundled, as soon as that happened the price sky rocketed.
I think I will wait a bit longer for it, kinda want one but only for a couple of games that unlock extra features. Might pay £20 when it drops back to that.

I'm not up to date on the new kinnect but I had the old one...have they not made many games using this? It seems a real waste as the old 360 kinnect worked pretty well. I had lots of dancing games and kinnect sports for when friends were round and we were all drunk...great fun. Shame :disappointed:

See I'd disagree. I love my Kinect, and am tempted to pick another one up with the assumption the Scorpio would be compatible. Using voice commands is great, especially to record clips on the fly. Being able to walk in the room and navigate to a game without touching the joy pad is brilliant.
It's a shame MS killed the thing

Good if you use it for TV control commands. I don't think they're going to give up support for it in that sense. Their whole ethos was to make Xbox One a TV / Game centre from the outset. Kinect still gives the best TV controls, plus it watches you constantly :stuck_out_tongue:
