The Polaroid equivalent (had there been one) in 1967, would've cost 5 shillings

Don't be fooled by the once great Polaroid name: It's a brand ASDA bought to slap on Chinese made tat.
This TV may be good, may not, but the brand name is meaningless.
None of that going on, because it is the only tv in the whole country at that price for all we know  more store specific rubbish

Cant deny it's a great price for a tv, but had two Polaroid tv's in the last couple of years, both broke after about 14 months and asda didn't want to know, so vowed never again..... good price though !!!!

My parents have had one for years, still going strong. My sister in law had one that the kids broke and they still replaced it. Despite it being out if warranty.
Two sides.

Most of the 'own brand' and brands that have had name rights sold off (Kodak, Polaroid, Schneider, Becko, Warfdale and others off the top of my head) are all made by the same company, they're known for the poor design of the power boards. Either way you legally have a 2 year warranty so Asda would need to refund, replace or repair it.

I bought the one in Lowestoft, the TV that was at £79 was one called a Polaroid series 3...I have a feeling the full price ones on the shelves are series 1 they have both types on the asda website....
well the link doesn't work, but Google it...you get the idea

Colour TV has never been so cheap. Even in 1967 it cost around £250 for a 22 inch goldfish bowl screen with no connectivity, other than the aerial input, no remote, unnatural flesh tones, poor reliability and a manual analogue tuner with mechanical controls. This is equivalent to 4K on today's money. Compared to this, what's not to like with the Polaroid TV?

The main Asda doesn't have any. Go to Asda Living on the retail park. They have a few. Bought the Philips £149 one from there yesterday. A lot of tv for the money. Android OS, google play store, Iplayer, Netflix, Kodi & its quick so not sluggish through the menus like some TVs. Wasn't interested in the Polaroid ones they looked a bit naff but they don't have them running so it's pot luck what the image qualities like. My Philips has no dead pixels, ghosting or banding. SD quality is not as good quality as my 50" Sony but not bad by any means. Although I still haven't finished calibrating the settings yet. The HD quality is pretty great though. It is a bargain for the price.
By the way everybody all Asda stores are listing these at normal price. You have to get them to scan the barcode to get the updated reduced price. Strange I know but it's the same in every store. It is a nationwide offer as Asda living had a very small sign hidden up behind the counter however they were hiding all the TVs in the back. Seems very odd that they are trying very hard to hide this offer. Why even bother selling them if your not going to let people know. Strange.

Went to Asda in Bridge of Don Aberdeen after work thinkign I was wasting my time but there were some there! No idea how many as you just get a little card and go to the counter with it to purchase....even if it only lasts 2 years like a post above, for £79 it'll do....TV technology will have improved/gotten cheaper in two years :-) Possibly stock left there!

My Polaroid broke after 13 months. It's a lottery if it continues to work or not from what I've read.
None available in the Birmingham/Black Country area but heat to the OP for his original deal that led to the conversation!
