Do you need further equipment to use this? I recently bought a Xiaomi Yeelight bulb as it's considerably cheaper, and there's a smartphone app to control it.
I believe that the idle power draw from those bridgeless types can be quite a bit higher, so you may not be saving as much as you think with the led bulb.

I dont understand... so lets say i bought these bulbs for £29.99 and just put it in.. would it not work?

yes, but only like an ordinary bulb.
For the WiFi and colour change ability you need the 'Bridge' hardware, about £20-30 2nd hand off eBay.
WARNING: These are very addictive and once you start you will just buy more and more

Those Chinese converters are a fire waiting to happen, I'd be damned if I'd take the risk. Read some reviews, they overheat. Plus with the bulb having to be on at all times it's too much of a gamble. The better option would be to hold out, there's bound to be a sale on E27 bulbs this week.

Great price. I'm now in danger of having more bulbs than light fittings...

Great price, ordered 2 of these last night from amazon for 50 quid. Having to refuse delivery today and reorder instead of them refunding the difference - but annoying but thats for the spot op!

Aren't the E27 bulbs the newer ones with the more accurate greens etc. I almost snapped this up this morning but thought the B22 were the older versions? One of the reviews has a comparison with E27 vs "older" bulb and shows the greens are a massive improvement on E27.
Anyone know if these B22 are newer versions? Or are they simply the bayonet versions of E27?

Kay, they're definitely the newer richer colour. I bought one two weeks ago.

Love these. Whole house had these, whites and personal hue, good fun using Alexa or your phone. Just wished I could get colour changing to work with Alexa, still can't figure that out although with scenes it's supposedly possible.
Alexa works fine with scenes for me in the UK. Had to use the new hue app (when I say new it's about a year old now!) and re-add the scenes which I had been using in the old hue app. If you also choose to have the default scenes as well, Alexa has access to the colourflow scene.
Once you have that set up ask Alexa to scan for new devices and it picks up your scenes.

Set up a scene in the app and save it. Give it a sensible name like Bedroom Morning or Lounge Reading. Then say Alexa, set the bedroom to morning.

How are the new richer colours bulbs? I have the old ones and wonder how much of an improvement these are.

are they much different to the generation 2 lamps? I already have 3 in the living room but have ordered one of these for an extra table lamp I just hope the colours aren't too different.

Great deal. In the US the RRP was cut from $60 to $50 but with the £ down so much I fully expect the £50 UK price to stay and at best drop to £45 so this is a no brainer. The bulbs sell pretty well on eBay so I can replace all 5 of mine and make most of the money back selling my old ones.

There is a stock shortage currently so doesnt look promising...
Do the dimmer switches ever go on offer? They always seem to be £19.99. I have enough bulbs now, but need a couple more switches and maybe the strip lighting... Hmm.. Addictive!

not sure but better value to buy the dimmer with a white lamp kit for £30 when in stock (if you know your going to use the lamp)

that's the wrong way round for the bulbs on this deal, also just be careful how far you screw the bulbs into the adaptor, I've blown 2 Hue bulbs with these, also using adaptors is not great as they also add another 1 to 2 inches of length onto the bulb so they're more than likely going to stick out of the light fitting/shade etc.

21 Nov 16#35
Don't these require the other way around though? Bayonet in converted to E27?
Crustybeaver
21 Nov 16#38
As others have pointed out these connectors do not convert a B22 bulb to E27 fitting.

I have quite a few GU10 recessed ceiling light fittings in my house but resigned myself to never changing them due to the costs of the GU10 bulbs and the fact there are quite a few in the same room (got 8 just in the bathroom)

Hi Paul,
I've got one of each now (and soon 2 more of these). The new bulbs have a much greater range of colour than the old ones, particularly blues and greens. So you can match to old colours (if you use iConnectHue you need to set the old bulb first then drag to the new one), it's just that the old bulbs suddenly seem much more restricted.
Though the range is more similar to my living colours, but the bulb has an option to alter colour temperature.

You can change the Scenes with Alexa if you add the Hue skill. IFTTT doesn't work with Alexa in the UK yet

It's not cheap on its own I'm afraid.
Although sometimes there are deals to be had. I got this kit from Currys for £75 a while ago.
